- I found some Cubs minor league sets with some fun/odd/awesome cards tucked in them. Plus, some $1 rookies, 80s oddball sets, and other assorted items. #collect #thehobby #baseballcards #80s #tradingcards
Great pick ups! Love the Tru Value cards and you can't beat that Cubby Bear card! Classic! Thanks for sharing and keep on rocking!
@@DontTalktoRobots the True Value cards are totally awesome, but finding out there is a second version of all of them with a different ad has me wondering if I need to chase the rest. The answer is yes, of course. Haha. And the Cubbie Bear card is quickly moving up my list of my favorite cards. Thanks for watching!
Yo! That Cubbie Bear was going through some tough times that season. 😂
@@victornegroncards Right? I mean, we’ve all had some rough days/photos, but they don’t usually end up on a baseball card. Haha. And above all else, why isn’t the photo centered?
Cubbie... you're scaring the kids again... Little did they know a simple visit with the Snuggle Fabric Softener Bear in the washer and dryer would bring back Cubbie to loveable status. Nobody knew about the trouble he got into in his side gig with the ShowBiz Pizza Place Band... But he powered through that - for the fans! It was a happy ending haha... What a great bunch of cards!
@@blixcards I think we see why this was the last year Cubbie Bear looked like this before they did a refresh of the look of Cubbie Bear. Haha. And some fabric softener definitely would have helped.
I like the Cubbie Bear mugshot card.
@@Just_Falcon5446 That is what I literally called it as well. Haha. I went and looked through all of Cubbie Bear’s cards. After this card they changed Cubbie Bear’s look to a more kid friendly look.
Very cool Hershey Hawkins card!
@@PennySleeveSteve Absolutely! I was stoked to find that. That was such a fun one from a great set.
Nice pick ups. Jim Tracy played College baseball in Marietta Ohio close to my hometown.
Very cool. Ironically, Jim Tracy went to Badin HS in Hamilton, OH, same as Kent Tekulve (although it was called “Catholic HS” when Tekulve went there). Tekulve also happened to go to Marietta College. Hamilton -> Marietta College pipeline, apparently.
@@dimeboxdiscoveries that is crazy they went to the same high school as well. Kents son also played there. He still come back once in awhile.
@@themediamarauder1582 Very cool.
Man, I had a bunch of comments lined up for all of the cards…until Cubbie Bear popped up. A van with no windows?! Hahaha! And then the Cubbie Bear voice! I’m dying.
That last set is so great too. I saw that Hawkins not to long ago and love it!
What if the Moon was made of spare ribs Jeff? Would you eat it?🤓
@@macwaxxstacks There certainly is a lot to unpack in this one. Cubbie Bear is certainly one of my most favorite cards. I did the voice for my girlfriend and she was both laughing and freaked out. That’s how I roll. And I use that exact same spare rib quote anytime someone mentions Harry! Lol. “I know I would!”
In sorry, $2 is still a great deal on that Morgan. Heck yeah! The baseball card mag and Burger King cards are fantastic pickups. That Cubby Bear is a freak. Ha
@@zachandporter Right? That’s what I’m saying. $2 all day for that card. You know l love my oddballs, and being able to finish the set all at once for $5, I’m in. And yeah, I had to do a triple take to make sure I was seeing what I thought I saw on Cubbie Bear. Each time I looked at it, I felt like I found something new. It is quickly becoming one of my most favorite cards. So much going on with it, none of it good. Haha. And my next video is going to have a lot of Big Hurt cards pulled out of a nickel box.
Lots of great pick ups. The Cubby Bear card is interesting. I have seen it before but can’t remember where. Lots of great Cubs sets.
Yeah, I was like I HAVE to have this Cubbie Bear card. And the Kodak set was loaded with Harry, Maddux and the pre-rookie Hersey Hawinks. Thanks for watching.
Nice Cubs sets. I still have some of those Baseball Cards magazine cards in an album, my first baseball cards. Love their 1969 pattern ones, which included Mark Grace and Ryne Sandberg.
@@diverdave2179 I love those ones. The ones that look like 1969 are from the 1990 set. A beauty, and an affordable set still. I keep meaning to buy it, ut I never pull the trigger. I think you are convincing me to do so.
@@diverdave2179 Oh, and my next video will include a Steve Avery card. And thanks to you, I made sure to notice if he was throwing as a lefty in it.
@@dimeboxdiscoveries Go ahead, man! I think Dwight Smith and Jerome Walton of the Cubs are there too.
I was lucky enough to snag a 1969 Topps Al Kaline, my only one, from the Philippines of all places (my native country).
@@dimeboxdiscoveries Haha, thanks for remembering, will wait for that :)
