Another fantastic video, lsaille. I certainly hope it helps and inspires newer players to continue to grind on some of the trickier parts of the early game. Here's a few things I would also like to add: 1. You touch on it briefly near the end but I think it bears stating further that after Level 3 hand is achieved, shotgun becomes a much more powerful option and can be used for reliable damage output at a distance compared to Lvls 1 and 2 hand, though careful aim is still required and still probably not recommended to be used on spiders until a level of proficiency with shotgun tech has been mastered. 2. At the 230 second mark when the 6 Squid Is are spawning, if you have cleared the arena before they spawn, you can move towards one of the N/S/E/W ends of the arena and kill up to 3 Squid Is before they even gush. This can make the 230 wave much more manageable but the spawn locations are entirely up to RNG. 3. If someone is struggling with clearing the barrage of Squids after 230 before the Gigapedes, homings can be used very efficiently by first clearing out as many skulls as you can quickly before using the homings, that way they will target Squids, preventing regushes.
Wait. Wait. WAIT. WAIT IT WAS THIS SIMPLE!? I've been bunny-hopping all over the arena, fighting of hundreds of skulls in front and behind me, maneuvering between towers blindly with my back, relying on nothing but the sound, all just to get to 220 seconds And yet I could just calmly walk around in the middle? Holy hell. This was an eye opening experience. Thank you!
@@Delamortes damn dude congrats! Any tips? I’ve made it to a out 300 seconds but I took a break from the game. Those last 200 seconds are a whole different ballgame
I can't explain to you how much this video helped! I went from a record of 68 seconds to 189 in one run lol Thanks a ton I'm really starting to understand how the game works now
This is great! Thanks a lot. I panic during the first spider trio and I had absolutely no strategy for this part. It's awesome to have a detailed tutorial explaining the basic mechanics of the game...
@@abelarda It all comes down to practice - it took me 80 hours to hit 500 for the first time and grinding the first 250 seconds really comes down to honing an artform. Eventually it's all muscle memory, but having a guide really helps smooth out the early uncertainty of how to approach it, considering I gave up on the game with a personal best of 220 for 6 months and ended up bruteforcing my way to 500 much later on.
Hey man! Thanks for the really helpful and informative video. I like long videos, but sometimes struggled with how long some explanations were. This is perhaps also because I had a decent amount of hours in this game, on a crappy laptop screen, with a terrible mouse, etc. I was never able to top 120. My second game on a decent set up I easily break that, but was still stuck not very high above that. I watched your video to the 28:33 mark. I'll have to finish it soon. I got to 230 not long after that and today hit 266.6 my friend who's been on top of our friend board for a long time is pissed. Thank you...so much for this video. I went from 60/70seconds to 160 seconds in less than half an hour of practice based off this video. It made the chaos a lot less chaotic!
Thanks a lot for the guide and tips, this is very helpful! I really wish the game had a mode where stuff is randomized instead of being so scripted where it would be more of a on-the-spot skill playstyle instead of relying that much on memory and trial and error. The game is amazing.
The website Devildaggers.info is a very indepth site for the game where you can get ahold of asset editors and make entirely modified spawnsets / maps, etc. I used to do a fair bit of that myself and had a spawnset with 4 bosses appearing before an endgame loop. So if you were looking for some more variety, that's a good place to check out.
Been stuck at 234 seconds as my personal best, but if I make it to 214 seconds, that feels like a good run. The first wave of triple spiders is tough enough, but the second wave always overwhelms me. I've watched this video half a dozen times or more, but I haven't been able to achieve that smooth dispatching of the squids and skulls past the point of the second hand upgrade. All the same, I'm thankful for this guide as there's not much in the way of careful explanation.

oh okay, so I just can't aim. That explains everything. By the first minute I have been frantically jumping around, not being able to clear and getting overwhelmed .__.
Thanks for the tips and video man, been picking the game back up today and managed to claw my way to time 150 before this video, and hope to go much higher now! You make the game look so easy and calm I had to ask myself if we were even playing the same game haha! I will ask, what are your tips for movement how and when to use movement mechanics? And what FoV do you use?
Glad you found it useful, my fov was 95 for a long while but I've since moved to 100. Basically the sweet spot can be anywhere between 90-100 I'd say, if you go higher the perspective is very wonky, and if you go lower it limits your range of vision too much I find. For movement, the basic expression I tend to use is "bunnyhop and strafe are overpowered". A lot of what dictates good movement is knowing when to use it, and the best answer I can give is that it's situational. You will find the more you play the more you will consciously (or subconsciously, depending on your skill level) be aware of when skulls are around you. Playing with headphones is a real boon for that extra knowledge because all sound comes from enemies in the game aside from your movements and firing, so if you hear a dry laughing sound behind you, you will know it's a sign to strafe left or right, and turn to cut down the larger skull on your tail. It really just does come down to practice, and going into explicit specifics is really hard to do because no run is exactly the same, you will always need to improvise to some extent. Hopefully that helps, you should find that with time you can push past what you think is possible quite easily, I quit for 9 months when I was at 200 seconds for example. But persistence pays off and it's really just a case of how far you want to push yourself in the grind.
L Saille thanks a ton for the in-depth comment, that combined with the video has helped me push to 210 seconds today! I look forward to more progress in the future, and when I break the 250 mark I’ll have a large thanks to give to you!

@@CerebrumFroth The spider on the arena that appears at the 39 second (or 39000 points mark) will suck up the gems and eat them if you don't kill it, so the best thing to do is to target it fast when it first spawns on the arena.
