  • This LEGO® Gumball Machine sorts up to 74,000 gumballs automatically every day! 6 different colors can be sorted!
    Color sensors detect the colors of the gumballs, and servo motors control releasing the gumballs and shifting the sorting channels into the correct positions so the gumball candy goes into the right bin.
    Please enjoy this LEGO® Technic MINDSTORMS EV3 robot MOC!

    My favorite part was the sorting mechanism; the fact that the same 3 parts on the slanted cover were used multiple times in different ways for all 7 columns.

      Thank you so much for watching and for the comment! That's one of my favorite parts too! It was challenging to get that working exactly right, but the result worked out well! Do you also build with Technic, or do you have another favorite theme?

      @@BrickMachines1 Actually, yes, I do build with technic. So far I have a couple of small things on my channel, mainly just a remote control pack addition, but I’m busy building a scuffed version of a 3D printer. I did make 2 video game consoles, one with a cartridge slot and reader, the other with a disc reader. I had a video for the cartridge slot and reader console, but I took the video down because the video ended up doing poorly, and the console didn’t have any full games to show yet.
      TLDR: Yes, I build with Technic :)

      And working on the 3D printer would be awesome! I have one that's been sitting unplugged for over two years that I need to get fixed up and working!

    That was so satisfying to watch...the ability for the machine to read the color so quickly was my favorite part.

    • @BrickMachines1
      @BrickMachines1  2 года назад +4

      Thanks for commenting gilgaladaiglos! It's amazing how fast those sensors can read--sometimes close to 1 millisecond! The program has the sensor take 10 readings a few milliseconds apart and then determines which color was most frequent to decide the actual color before sorting it. Makes it a little slower but more accurate generally.

      Also, my fav part is actually the way the gumballs fall out when you pull the tab, but the rest is sick af as well. Love the pinball-like sorting system.

    I like the releasing mechanism. I'm looking for an automatic releasing system, that can select each item 1by1 to feed them to another machine. For Technic pins not balls, so it's harder to hold them in a storage. But your releasing with auto-return by rubber bands looks good and doable to automate.
    Nice machine + speed!

    • @BrickMachines1
      @BrickMachines1  2 года назад +1

      Thank you Mr. Jos! Oh yeah, storing and releasing gumballs would be a lot easier than pins! When you finish your MOC I'd really like to see it! Out of curiosity, is it like an assembly line you're building?

    • @profjos
      @profjos 2 года назад +1

      @@BrickMachines1 It's a complete logistics line I'm trying to make, guess there will never be an end to it, I can always add things to expand. Now I'm looking for a setup to fill/empty my pallets with goods, and have them being sorted and stored in the high bay warehouse. All full automatic and fast offcourse. Currently making a complete 3D model from the current setup, that will take a few more days.

    • @BrickMachines1

      Wow, that sounds incredible! I love those kinds of machines. Something about moving goods and materials around can be so satisfying to build and then watch afterwards. Do you have anywhere you're posting where I could see the progress? Oh, and I was wondering if it's EV3 controlled or what controller you're using instead?
