Did you know that you could've gotten the 11000RPM Mecha tuned 86 from initial D if you just held the start button before entering that specific dealership

I remember this game, i play this on arcade in Timezone center. One of the best japanese 🇯🇵 arcade racing 2000s i've ever playing, very nostalgic 👍
Me too. I ever played 25 arcade games in Timezone. Back then, there were 100 arcade games that can be played.
One of my favorite racers on PS2, and a great sequel to the Side By Side series. A nice middle ground between Ridge Racer and Gran Turismo, it's a Touge racer and more realistic than RR, but still arcade style and not overly sim-like.
Yep. Shame even Gran Turismo 7 cant match Battle Gear 2 in terms of "BE FUN" gameplay.
The intro, menus, background it all comes together this is the game I played as a child and now found it thanks to you ❤

Man that intro with the FD3S kinda reminds me of Initial D
because Battle Gear/Side by Side are Taito's answer to Initial D
The intro is actually a homage to the second battle in Initial D: Fourth Stage against Seven Star Leaf`s Atsuro Kawai.
@Houki Chan That`s actually the only difference. Atsuro Kawai actually drove an R34 GT-Turbo (which is like a GT-R but is rear wheel drive and had less horsepower).
The attract scene is forever ingraved in my mind when I was a little child looking at the arcade

I often used the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V but sometimes I used a Toyota Supra

Oh man I remember playing this when i was grade 6 in the arcade here in the phillipines back in 2001 i think and i always pick the honda motors the honda eg6 and pretending to be shingo in initial d uhhh memories well umm its pretty good game while umm the battle gear 3 is much better but i would rather playing the 3 because of the gameplay but hey it's pretty cool game

2023, BATTLE GEAR 2 on both Arcades and PS2 are still great game surprisingly!
Despite not being as difficult as Side by Side, it still requires a lot of skill to drive well through those passes. The biggest problem however is the fact, that it ain't that easy to unlock extra tracks and bonus cars.
There's an arcade of this in my town. I am so happy by that. And also a Battle gear 4. EVEN MORE HAPPIER

Best racing game in terms of handling and car sounds. Just wish it had more JDM cars like the Nissan 300ZX, Honda CRX SiR and Mitsubishi Eclipse just to name a few.
Gran Turismo 7 should learn from this example.

I remember play this game in a arcade machine when I has 4 years old :).
So I'm trying to run this game on PCSX2, and it's doing this weird thing where the cars are all being rendered to the right of where they're supposed to be. Anybody know how I could fix this?

Does PCSX2 allow PS2 system link over iLink / Firewire for this title ( PAL = Tokyo Road Race ) or do emulators support any PS2 linking or ethernet network mode ?

ps2 emulators do support online on ethernet, although i don't think there is any iLink support
