i never knew much about drywall & sanding for hours only to have it look like crap after painting until my mother - in law told & showed me the secret of put it on as thin as you can (usually couple layers) but then you only need a wet sponge to level it out. (no sanding neccesary). it made it more fun when sanding & dust weren't involved. luv u kid's.
Hi Nick and Jen. Good to see you today. Good work on the taping and mudding. Apparantly I misunderstood your intended use of the garage space. I thought you were also intending on using is as a shop, with a lift, for project and repair work. If you are intending on using it as a shop in the winter, I hope you don't regret not insulating the walls and garage doors. It will get awfully cold in there and make it difficult to spend any length of time working on projects etc. Just my 2¢ It's always nice to see the kids and Charlie. I hope you are having a good time at the dunes and on your get away. See you on the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
Great thoughts on working in the bitter cold winter days in an uninsulated garage. I’ve had to do that many times in my life and had wished the garage was insulated.
Great video thank you for all of the hard work to most of us it may just seem like fun and games but I have no doubt it takes longer to do it 'cause you're filming on top of everything else have a great day
You can also blow in later….because I believe you WILL regret no insulation not just for heating but for the heat from the outside in summer…other than that things look awsome
Moved here to Tulsa from the East coast…I hate no insulation in my garage are!!! Super cold in winter and super hot in summer…I really cannot store anything out there!!! Miss my old homes back east where it was always insulated!!
Dear young man , MUD is what you observe after rain on your soil around , simply water and soil mixed !! What you are applying to plaster board (not ''dry wall'' or ''sheet rock''' ) is a sort of lime mixture paste stay healthy ..
I understand that you have your reason for not insulating, but consider the fact that you've come too far to start short cutting because of expenses, amount of intense labor or whatever the reason may be. I usually sit back and just enjoy how beautifully your family work together and how everything is coming together, but, speaking from experience, this could become a big issue and a lot of problems later on. Keep moving forward with love and know that you are blessed!....
Ahhh, Wax on, Wax off. I turns out that I hate watching drywall mudding almost as much as I hate actually doing it. Except that it doesn't take as long.
"your so good at filling holes" (Nick) "No actually you are" Jen!!! LOL I love all the se_ual innuendos between you both ans Jen i think goes by the motto" If you got it flaunt it" And she is very good at it! Nick you are one lucky guy, you both do amazing work together and seem to have lots of fun also!!!!!!!!!Jen is always so beautiful and you both look like you stay in good shape, both energetic and a delite to watch!!
You need to rent some drywall tools....2,4, and 8 inch boxes so it will save you so much time...... a bazooka to apply the mud and tape at the same time....I used to do drywall 40 years ago, so I'm sure the tools they have today are much better and easier to use. Good Luck, hope you neck and back make it thru for you!!!!
Many years ago I had a house built and the drywall was done before the furnace was installed. Because it was below 50 you could always see the seams. FYI
Great Job Nick & Jen! Jen, you have invented a new workout routine: you are Karate Kidding your dry wall - let’s see, “Mud on, mud off, mud on, mud off, mud on, mud off!
@@donnamueller2098 hi! I know the feeling of cold winters….. I lived in Maine for many years. It was beautiful in the winter but the winters are very long and dark. You have created a great home where you are. Best wishes with whatever life takes you. K
If I knew who made the decision not to put Insulation in our garage, drywalling and painting it, only to have to live thru summer months average temperature's in the garage 135 degrees. not to mention freezing temprature's in the winter. BIG MISTAKE!
Why didn't you insulate before putting up the drywall ? Crazy amount of heat lost in the winter and also keeping the heat out in the summer .. I don't get it .. all that work to build something nice and then cheap out on the important stuff .. just say'n
I get it too for cost but if they ever try to run a heater down there even short term, the lack of insulation can cause rapid temperature changes in the back side of the drywall and it can condensate. Once that happens, mold will set in eventually. Ask me how I know…. 🤷♂️ Hopefully they never experience this issue.
@@Shep5847 just park a couple of hot cars in there during the winter and there is the “heater”. Look at their deck build videos. He didn’t flash the ledger board bolted to the house. Looking forward to the rain running down their walls. Moisture from the outside plus condensation means soggy dryway/mold. Can’t fix stupid.
@@redcoyote7 gotta love social media where people post all their foolish decisions and are “upset” when people with more experience point out the mistakes. The black mold that will certainly form is a serious health hazard. But hey, you do you.
That is exactly true … a lot of work to do without the insulation being added they will probably learn this in a few years down the road hopefully mold does not sit in and I like to do stuff in the garage. The insulation keeps it warmer in the winter cooler in the summer.

How strange you said that, as I was watching y'all drywalling I was thinking how peaceful that looked and how I wouldn't mind doing it myself.
Hi!! I see your house is up for sale, I don’t think you have mentioned it yet? Good luck
Yeah I figured this was coming. Winters rough especially with the kids out there but at least they tried

Couldn't you rent a bazooka?
Ya I would put something in the wall before dry wall but it is all good but the question I have is are you going to build the main house still ?
But why no insulation 😢
