I heard her three times in December 2015 and found her transportative, if that's a word. Also, TM Krishna (trance-inducing) and Sanjay Subramanian (shakti). Sure, some performances will be better than others--these people, like all geniuses, like all of us, are "only" human. If she and all these other singers could lift us to exalted states even just occasionally would be remarkable. That they can do it often is extraordinary. If they did it every single time we might become numb and unappreciative. That they can do it at all is miracle enough.
One takes heart from the fact that the opinions expressed are interesting, but subjective ( cf. ' Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder ' . ) . For my part , many positive aspects of the singing art are evident.
The audience is also participating and evokes nostalgic moments. Bhakti Bhavam has been evoked when you see some of the Ammas sitting their with closed eyes. The singer had done her job. In fact this is better than a superlative technical performance ?
nothing to say! great excellent inspiring SANGEETAKALAANIDHI sudha simply takes you with her nuanced music congrats to her I think she has become the youngest women musician to receive the birudu her guru MLV AMMA received it when she was 47 ,in 1975 now sudha is receiving it at the age of 45 (sudha was born in 1968 may so not counting this year 2014,her age is 45 she actually joins a select group of vidwans and vidushis who received the title in their 40's semmangudi has an unbeaten record till date of the youngest ever sangeetakalanidhi he got it when he was 39,DR BALAMURALIKRISHNA got it when he was 48, now sudha in her 40's may the academy honour great vidushis like KUM.KANYAKUMARI the QUEEN OF VIOLIN,the divine VEENAI GAYATRI, the scholarly SOWMYA and vidwans like the PIONEER U SRINIVAS, CHITRAVEENA RAVIKIRAN etc
oh I was wondering what her date of birth is ! actually I gathered the date by an article in kumudam magazine in 2012,anyway thank you a million for the correction man! so it makes MLV the youngest recipient! thank you again
Mulugu neelotpal She s 50+ according to me.... She got music scholarship in 1977 and she came under the tutelage of MLV. If u guess she was 20 when she met MLV... She married Shree Raghunathan in the year 1982....So she is around 55 according to me,,, I may be wrong....
Contrary to comments below I felt there was something missing in the concert. I have seen many concerts by Smt. Sudha and have thoroughly enjoyed them, but I don't know why I felt that the kutcheri didn't build up to that elevated "trance" like atmosphere that I was expecting especially for this theme. One reason could be that the violinist was not as par with the calibre of Sudha and Vaidyanathan. A song about Shiva was missing which was noticeable especially after the answer Sudha gave for one of the questions saying for musicians all gods are needed. Would have completed the concert better.
Jaya TV I love your carnatic music in every concert. I love you so much that I thought a reply will be a little sweater than a comment. Hope you think so to. From Kavya.
Nowa, days . Sudha . Raghunathan sings asif poetry is cited in the cl,ass room I think fame and titles have gone into herhead. The bgreatest future is she sings without proper sruty and for the gallery. Many people may accept this, but people like me who have heard . G. N. Band . M. L. V of the same school cannot digest. She is highlly talented lady and I have heard beautiful katcheries of hers. Madam don't allow vanity to get into your head, worship music. - V. S. Sivaraman,. Hyderabad
Sorry to say, it wasn't a great concert. Very ordinary - compared to her very many great concerts earlier. Somehow the "naada" (timbre) was missing. God bless her.
RELUCTANTLY AND WITH ANGUISH IMAGREE WITHSWATI SIVARAMAN.THERE IS HARDLY ANY BHAKTHI OR DEDICATION IN HER MUSIC NOW A DAYS.I FEEL IF SHE COMES DOWN TO EARTHLY LEVEL IT WOULD BE BETTER FOR HER.SHE IS A TALENTED AND A SENIOR ARTISTE,
Podhuvaga Tamizhnattu pengalin ennam aangilathil pesuvadudhan,.ivargal thai mozhiyei oru thevadiyavai pol nadathugirargal. Vetkkam ketta eena piravigal. Are the singing carnatic music in English. That too their english is obnoxious. I am in Hyderabad I am proud of my mother tongue sweet tamizh, it is my breadth. I curse those who do not respect their Thai Mozhi. Shameless people.
Here in Hyderabad, even as a non telugu if I speak in English they look at you as an alien .Fortunately my wife is a telugu I manage with chaste telugu. In fact some people cannot speak telugu as their mother tongue is Urudu, we manage with them in Hindi which is similar to Urudu. You can find the vernacular papers in every house hold. But unfortunately in Chennai, people feel bad to speak their mother tongue though TN is under Dravidian partys rule. Particularly the semi educated girls /women are obnoxious in their pride by speaking in a Tamil programme. I am a chennaite, now only in Hyderabad and I feel very much for my sweet tamizh.
Exactly. no home work done to identify a theme. If Jaya TV was producing this series with different themes for every concert, it should not have approved such a 'themeless' theme. The concert is also lacking depth & shruthi shuddam and very superfluous in terms of classicism
The theme is about inviting God to our place, as she told agam stands for the place, may be your house or inside you. And the songs are ofcourse doing the same. Inviting Krishna in kannada, lakshmi in telugu, muruga in tamil, Ganesha in sanskrit. I find the work as convincing as ever. The original 3 hour concert was absolutely divine, a decent editing would have transferred the same emotion here.

Simply awesome. She's incomparable to any of the other singers. Priya sisters come a far second.
The artist dedicated cent percent to her profession done extremely well all concerts Aravindakshan Ramssseri
.
Prayers... and ananthakodi namaskaram for the blessed soul
Good concert and good answers to questions too.
Classic Sudha Thiruvaroor, vaarana mukhane
The kriti Hecharika ka Rara in Yadhukula Kambodhi has a tune similar to a Thiruppugazh in the same raga, Pachchaiyongiri.
As good as ncvasanthakokilams rendition of the same pithan endraalum paeyan endraalum song
Top program by Mrs. Ragunathan. Brilliant
Once against it's disappointing that artistes' names have been omitted.
No word to express. Fine,
Great 👍
ENJOYED LISTENING TO THE CONCERT

நன்றி உங்கள் தகவல்களுக்கு நண்பரே , இருந்தும் the vernacular papers எனக்கு புதிதாக உள்ளது.
+excali fedo -vernacular is nothing but the language normally spoken by the people of the partiicular state.
She can kill a human being just by her singing!!!!! Good God!
Smt Sudha Raghunathan performance is not upto the mark. Melody was absent and bhava was lacking. Surprising, indeed.
The theme "iRai aham" is not a theme at all. How many songs are in Carnatic music genre which are NOT on iRai?
