Flanker Pilot upon return to base: You won't believe how crazy that fight was! I fought the F22 till I had no weapons left. Then the F22 ran away once he saw I would never give up. I swear!
1. That flanker pilot did an amazing job fighting an F22 (he got much closer than most to killing and even managed to force a merge). 2. He was also smart enough to know when things were over and surrender.
Except that would never work unless the Raptor pilot was willing to escort him into captivity... Which in middle of mission like this wouldnt be possible

If the Flanker pilot ejected, fair enough. But he would NOT have gone home in a real-life situation like this. If you believe otherwise, you're incredibly naïve.
That Chinese flanker put up a great fight, novel strategy forcing an F22 defensive and then got close with some Fox 2s! Then was sensible enough to surrender when he knew he had no chance. Great piloting by that player.
If it's a real mission there won't be just 6 F-35s. There'll be E2D Hawkeye, F/A-18 Growlers and F-35s armed with AGM-88 HARM and no AGM-158 since it won't fit inside internal bays and compromise their stealth if it's outside.
@@night8285 If it was real, their S-300 sites would've been taken out with JASSM-ERs launched 900km out from B-2s before the strike package ever got sent. Then they could just mop up with Stormbreakers and SDBs on whatevers left.

But I think actual surrendering would have involved GS escorting him back to home base. It would have been a POW or defection situation, not just allowing him to turn tail and run.
That pilot showed skill makes the encounter. He legitimately almost got you with the Fox2 at 7:36. If you had spent more time and munitions on the first plane, it might have made the difference. This has to be one of your best yet in the F-22.
I've always wondered if it was possible to surrender in a dogfight but never knew how that would work without simply getting splashed anyway. That was unexpected but also something I'm really happy you were able to capture.

Excellent sportsmanship from everyone on that first fight. Very well-fought on both sides, and an honorable yield from the Flanker and equally honorable accept from GS. Love to see it! Cool video. One correction... that's an AGM-154 JSOW launched by the F-35. I was part of the team @ LTV that designed it back in 1990. It was originally called AIWS (Advanced Interdiction Weapon System). Among other things, I oversaw the submunition deployment rocket sled test @ China Lake. Lotsa fun.
I thought I had seen this one but I don't think so. This was fascinating. Getting into the merge with the second jet, launching on 4 jets at once with no response, that F-35 being downed by the SAM. The scenario felt real well rounded like you were a part of a larger operation. Would love to see more videos like this.
Imagine: you're flying your country's standard fighter jet. You know the enemy is flying stealth birds locally. You know you are getting close, but nothing on RWR or radar. Suddenly, your RWR goes off, and a blip appears for but a second on radar before disappearing. Your RWR does not stop. You have no idea where the missile came from, nor how close it was fired. Suddenly, your aircraft explodes. You are dead. This is what it's like to fight a Raptor. You know it's there. Somewhere. But you have little hope of finding it, let alone destroying it. If you're close enough to see it, that is only because it allowed you to get that close.
This vids are so good. You start to watch this kind of cool and laid back. Five mins inn you are already closer to the edge of your chair and your face is closer to the screen.
that flanker reminded me of the German soldier they let go in 'saving private Ryan'. He went back, rearmed and killed more. You dont let go of the enemy who've shot 6 missiles at you!
Accepting surrenders is just one of those pesky things the good guys have to do, especially in an age when everything is recorded and Monday morning quarterbacked to hell and back by more committees than there are grains of sand on a beach.
That was spectacular! Was it online or something? I think in a situation like that, the F-22 pilot would never release the Flanker. He would escort him to an allied airbase and capture the Flanker.

If they offer to surrender, why wouldn't you take that offer? So long as surrendering means the pilot landing his aircraft at one of YOUR airfields. You certainly wouldn't let him go home so he can come back and go up against you again another day.
i really enjoy this style of video. i could watch you do BFM for hours but these are really cool. the chaos of 15v15 is awesome as well, its been a while since you did one of those. lets be real here all of your videos are great.
Imagine letting the Chinese pilot go because he disarmed himself, then he finds himself executed by his superiors because he basically just gave up in the middle of a dog fight.
That guy never would have given you the same respect. He probably went back to re-arm and will come back out and try and shoot you down again. If it’s a target you take it out it’s an asset that you let your enemy continue to have. He could easily have ejected, and you take the asset away.
Me to my Navy father: "Dad, while you were miniboss. Did you every tell the fighters while in operation to let the enemy go?" My Miniboss Father:" *Laughs* you wouldn't be in the wing for long. Enemy wouldn't do the same for you, promise."
Imagine how terrified the pilot would be in a real life scenario, doing his best to get across that he gave up, only to just see the Raptor on his 3 just flying straight and watching like the UFO it is
People are rightfully awing over the flanker surrender because that was cool, but I'm just happy to see my favorite missile, the AGM-158 JASSM being used in a GS video
My suggestion for videos is 2v2 and 4v4 mission postures. I'd love to see attack/defend two islands with two forces. Each force is tasked with defending an island and another force tasked with attacking the other island.
You're a better man than I. The guy with the landing wheels down would have gotten a bullet in the wingtip. Surrendering means losing your plane. You get the chance to slow down and go to a desirable altitude for ejection. But then you either eject or you go down with your plane.
The pilot has intel to report about his tactic, which allowed him to delay and merge with a Raptor. Its better if the Chinesse don't get this report. Of course, if you down him, he might survive and report it anyway.
I’m shocked no one is screaming the last kill was a “war crime” because he was supposedly not offensive. To be clear I don’t think it was, nor do I care but it’s always funny reading dumb comments like that. Love these videos.
That surrender was unexpected but also witty, but also that he could have proved lethal for the f22, but the stealth worked as a deterrent for his missiles, if i were in that f22, I'd have let him go too, you have to respect his attempt and wits and also saving a whole fighter jet from being burnt down to nothing.....

This is exactly what the f22 and f35 was designed for. As you can see they succeeded near perfection minus the one casualty.

My suggestion for videos is 2v2 and 4v4 mission postures. I'd love to see attack/defend two islands with two forces. Each force is tasked with defending an island and another force tasked with attacking the other island.

You're a better man than I. The guy with the landing wheels down would have gotten a bullet in the wingtip. Surrendering means losing your plane. You get the chance to slow down and go to a desirable altitude for ejection. But then you either eject or you go down with your plane.

Doubled edged sword. Either you kill him, or he returns to base and rearms. I know it's a game, but not sure it would happen in a real war scenario.
The pilot has intel to report about his tactic, which allowed him to delay and merge with a Raptor. Its better if the Chinesse don't get this report. Of course, if you down him, he might survive and report it anyway.
@@JohnB-mo4kqi would assume in this type of situation they would be escorted back to the base with the air group they surrendered to if possible.

That surrender was unexpected but also witty, but also that he could have proved lethal for the f22, but the stealth worked as a deterrent for his missiles, if i were in that f22, I'd have let him go too, you have to respect his attempt and wits and also saving a whole fighter jet from being burnt down to nothing.....
