Nice repair. I also use owned since new iPad 2 on iOS 9.3.5, for which I have had to swap digitizer at least three times (fragile). Recently I had to fix broken backlight (faulty choke inline led's output). I use it only for RUclips nowadays however and to my surprise, google cut it from servers three weeks ago (last app version on this iOS). Thanks to some smart tutorials I was able to restore RUclips connectivity by jailbreaking and manually setting the API version to the one accepted by RUclips servers. What a mess with artificial obsolescence.
4:30 Glad you mentioned that on this particular device. I personally sand these down when I run into them. But double check all around before you start to apply pressure, they can crack new displays too.
The answer is usually children. Children always break tablets because they don't know how to care for something so poorly designed. Seriously there's a ton of hollow space behind the display and even a brand new screen can be cracked if you apply too much pressure around the edges. It's like Apple wanted this to happen.
A little trick for children’s iPads is to leave the clear screen protector that comes installed on the inside of the digitizer making it far easier to replace next time your child breaks the glass. Trust me I’ve got three kids and they each have iPads that have had to be repaired multiple times I’ve got digitizer replacement down to less than ten minutes from the first time I warm up the adhesive.
Those devices should have never been updated past iOS 10. The 5s is fine, but the A7 iPads are terrible past 10. They have the exact same GPU , same ram, and same CPU pushing way more pixels. Similar to the iPhone 4s on 9.
@@xl7667 i have a A7 iPad here (the mini 2) that worked just fine on iOS 12 (which is last to support anything with 1GB RAM, in my cases, i have to save SHSH blobs and then try my best to replace iOS 9, which is somehow very difficult due to NAND was corrupt and the iOS 9 just got stuck checking for updates. 2 possible causes of return warranty: 1, the bezel adhesive is not been cleaned, although the 3M double-sided adhesive is very sticky, there is still a chance to cause a come off. 2, the bracket of the Home button is not firmly glued, according to experience from many technicians, only using 3M double-sided adhesive will sometimes cause the Home button to be pressed inside and lead to repair, kids press hard to cause a bracket deformation will also lead to the guide point on the back of the Home button pot cover to fall off and disappear. Plus, please treat the touch screen socket on the motherboard with extra care as it is extremely fragile, and please dilute the Home button flex cable with alcohol or heat gun/pad, cuz tearing it off directly or forcibly scraping it off with a pry bar is a very dangerous act and should not be imitated. Once again, please leave repairs to the professionals, especially for mobile phones and tablets with lithium batteries, do not attempt on your own to cause unnecessary injury.

Hello Hugh. I have 2 questions. 1st what is the adhesive you used in this repair? 2nd how did you check the locked status. I hope you a good afternoon.
From experience, the real danger of those bent in corners on iPads is that they put extra pressure on the digitizer and will shatter it at the slightest provocation.
1. No Jeffrey. Alcohol SHOULD NOT be used when fixing iPad. The reason is, the LCD can easily damaged by alcohol, even 99% IPA 2. The top of iPad LCD has a hidden tape underneath it. To remove the tape, gently peel the top tape. You might want to cut off the tape since it goes around the LCD and we only want to remove the part that goes underneath the display

can you make videos about replacing ipad pro 2018/2020 screen does they also require reprogramming for the face id to work? I am told by some that proximal cable needs to be reprogrammed while said no.
Just a note that was not mentioned is that an inexpensive heat gun will loosen up all the parts that are glued on such as the Touch ID bracket and ribbon cable, magnets and the digitizer (touch panel as mentioned in the video)
