- Legendary comedian and actor Cheech Marin of the famed Cheech and Chong comedy duo appeared on VladTV, where he spoke about his career, childhood, and family life. Born and raised in South Central LA, Marin grew up in a Mexican family and later learned to speak Spanish more fluently while traveling to Costa Rica. He also touched upon his career journey, which began in comedy during his school days, where he would keep his peers entertained with his wit and humor. He revealed that his first experience with cannabis, a central theme in the Cheech and Chong movies, happened in college. Cheech explained how he formed his comedy duo with Tommy Chong and how they transitioned that success into a string of classic films. Cheech also talked about his solo success in film before speaking about the feds raiding Tommy Chong. Later in the interview, Cheech offers his thoughts on the shift in attitudes towards marijuana and much more.

Vlad, another GREAT interview. I was born in 64 and when their movie came out we all couldn't wait till the weekend to hit the movie at the mall. Our older brothers talked highly on how funny it is and once we seen it we couldn't stop immitating ever word said. Thanks again. Keep it up
Chong: we’re lost. Cheech: we’re not lost when you’re lost you don’t know where you are I know exactly where we are. We’re in the middle of fucking nowhere! 😂
What a career! Ive been following Cheech for 50 years.I used to get a lot of laughs in my teenage yrs using Cheech and Chongs humor
Did you follow his draft dodging years?!
@@P.P.McRockhard-i3m Zi doubt u walk on waterm!Excuuuuse me!
I enjoyed the interview. One thing I would have liked to see covered was his appearances on Celebrity Jeopardy where he just destroyed the other contestants. Cheech could have been a champion on the real Jeopardy for real.
Also the movie they made with Martin Scorsese.
glad to see such a great Icon being interviewed on here. Vlad need to find his lost Charlie Murphy interview...
Great to hear this guy's wisdom. He is truly one of the very best examples from his generation. So many young men in that era did exactly what they were told and walked willingly head first into death and disfigurement in vietnam. They murdered and raped children. They brought back with them nothing but ptsd, hard drug and alcohol addiction, and domestic abuse. They gave into their lesser nature and lived out the most horrendous destructive fantasies man can imagine. And even worse, they claimed to do it all under the color of "honor" and "duty to country."
But cheech said no. By standing up for his beliefs and morals under enormous pressure, this humble man named cheech would end up doing far more to serve the people of America than anyone who ever stepped foot in vietnam. The positivity and goodness that he shared with the world made a real impact, eventhough many overlook him as campy, the laughs and kindheartedness was real. It was shared by hundreds of millions, and it still radiates from him today. A far greater and more positive legacy than any vietnam fighter will ever have. He spoke for the silent majority and gave a voice and a sense of camaraderie to those who were looked down upon and dismissed by the groupthink of society. He achieved all of this through simple "lowbrow stoner humor."
It's a blessing this man is still here to see some of those tables turned and society not only accepting, but celebrating many of those elements of the so called "counter culture" that they had vilified for decades, particularly cannabis. Through all those phases of society cheech remained consistent and steadfast and true to himself. He never sold out or rebranded, but waited for society to come back around to him. He became a true American Icon. Its great to see him have such prosperity in his later years.
I have no doubt if the 70's had produced more men like cheech, America and the world would be a far better place than it is today. He is a great positive example and a true American icon.
God Bless Cheech Marin, and God bless America.
My fav person. Love u Cheech .
This man is a living legend of our time.
THATS THE POWER OF GOD SON ILL NEVER LEAVE YOU. HOW DOES A MEXICAN MAN GET FAMOUS IN CANADA ONLY THE POWER OF GOD. 1❤
Living Legend!! Hope he sticks around for many years to come🎄🔥🚬
One, if not the, funniest audiobooks ever done was the Milagro Beanfield War read by Cheech Marin. Unfortunately, trying to find it again is almost impossible.
Cheech Marin always makes me happy ☺️
Ceech is a real stand-up guy! No bad drama behind his name whatsoever!
Imagine how cool it would be, if he ran for president! 😃
You're right! During the whole interview, all I could think was, "man, what a cool guy!"
Mexican Americans love to hit up VladTV! Fucking love this dude always and forever!
Loved this interview,
My dad took me to the Drive in to watch up in smoke when i was 17 my introduction to cheech and chong, movies.

Call the ambulance in advance.
Thanks for the memories, Cheech and Chong

I absolutely love this person
Vlad's interviewing skills suck... I don't understand his success.bhis go to transition word is an uncomfortable .mm OK
Pot night back in the 90s channel 4 up in smoke was on I smoked it then couldn't get any was a dry up was murder watching it without a smoke lol 😂😂😂
Cheech..... legendary
How many times this dude gonna start a question with 'OKAY'? sounds like the discover credit card call in line.
I didn’t even notice this till I seen this now that’s all I hear is OKAY lol
The first to smoke weed on TV 😂 my friend.
NICE!!I NEVER KNEW BOUT THIS INTERVIEW SMH
Oh my God, it’s so late at night I have to wake up early 4 AM. I’m glad I caught this. Can’t watch it fully now. This man is a part of my youth Cheech and Chong the 70s into the 80s. What an interesting story this is going to be.
Intresting, his father was a copper.....my dad was a copper too, and i was well into drugs and got into all sorts of mischief!! My dad was in the crime squad and c.i.d. for 99% of his career , so was plain clothed, him and all his men were not like policeman, this was late 60's 70's,80's, early 90's, a few of mates died of alcholism, it was a heavy boozing culture, but none of his mates or the guys he was in authority of, seemed to be law abidding people! Not corrupt, just kind of a law unto themselves!!! They were always cool towards me,
He look high now 😂
Black n brown luv: 👍💯
Vlad enjoyed this one. Cheech's stories were wonderful to hear..
Back in 2017, cheech said that he pitied Trump voters and hopefully those voters realize their mistake. God you gotta love when a comedian gets involved like that. He’s definitely titled to his opinion. 1st amendment is as important or even more so than the 2nd but with the audience he has and followers. He should stay neutral because he has no freaking idea what he is talking about obviously. At least on that part anyways. Great guy no doubt but shit like that gets to me.
My favorite part is where he tells the cop.. his Name is Ralphhhhhh😅😅😅 🤢 🤮
😂
Legend 🚬😎🛸
Nobody will ever duplicate church and Chong. Grew up at 13 years old watching these movies and never stopped . I'm 42 now an I love alllllll there movies! Best guest ever
I love you Cheech! One of the greatest!
Just found your channel due to this Cheech interview. Evidently you do many interviews, but hoping you don’t say “OK” after every answer like you did on this one. JFC it’s annoying
I got a lot of play off my first name………muchas gracias Cheech & Chong!
🍻
U wanna see my paint job
Thunderstyle aaa
I was.....BORN IN EAST L.Ayeeee!
Love u Cheech u da best homie. 😎 know that you gave me many laughs n that i learned many lessons from you WISH U DA BEST ALWAYS VATO 💯
Love you Cheech! Your comedy is the stuff of Legend. Fact!
i thought it was the voice, he once tried out for Frank Zappa's band
Cheech and chongs best work is their records, big Bambu, the wedding album etc.!!!
Great job vlad another GOAT
I have no problem paying my dues for vlad interviews .i learned so much cool shit about cheech and Chong two Goats of weed counterculture.
An whole hour of Cheech and no weed ? Damm im Old
Black n brown luv: 👍💯
Absolute legend 💯
I used to listen to the albums and 8 track recordings.
Mexican Americans that was a funny song, cheats the bus driver is actually quite funny to I think basketball Jones it's absolutely hilarious.
Apple pie ************ from dusk till dawn
Whaaaaaaatsss….sapppppennnig….
Stop saying "OK" so much!
For vlad being a researcher he’s not very good. Refer madness came out in the 1930’s bro lmao
Cheech was in nine of Robert Rodriguez films....so yeah, he's his go to dude when making his films. Also One Upon ATime In Mexico is technically El Mariachi 3. As it's in the same continuity
@@mcentepede the fxck does your reply have to do with vlad saying when refer madness came out? Robert Rodriguez nor Marin were alive when it was made. It’s a 1936 marijuana propaganda film. You rambling about cheech being his go to dude has nothing to do with what I said. 🤣
I love Frank Zappa post mothers of invention in mothers of invention Frank Zappa mentioned in one of his documentaries actually of actually getting in touch and meeting for the first time Cheech Marin that must have been epic and I love Cheech and Chong as well as Cheech, is it cost to watch that I wanted to take a second to congratulate DJ Vlad because that's huge you have one of the biggest Legends sitting down and chopping it up with you congratulations.
In the late 70s, in Pennsylvania, there was a HBO-like pay channel called PRISM, and they played the first 1 or 2 CnC movies, in the DAY TIME, during SUMMER, SO, as 9-10 year olds, we got to watch them almost daily. Then, in 1981, Nice Dreams came out, my favorite, and i bugged my parents until my step-father finally took me to see it. We both laughed our asses off, the entire movie. CnC helped make the 70s so Awesome!
Much ❤ to you. Some of my favorite comedy records of all time.
Man, Vlad needs to up his research game.
Romeo from Tin Cup🙌
Born in a Mexican home in Los Angeles California from birth to 12 grade, I'm 100% sure Cheech Marin spoke Spanish, but like most Mexican Americans raised in Los Angeles he grew up ashamed of his culture, that's how powerful white people were to make someone feel less than human because they were Black, or Brown and spoke Spanish, which is a European language. Mr. Marin have some guts before you leave this world and tell the truth.
I made it my goal to speak 100% English and spanish fluently. But never wanted to be a priest.
The legendary
51:48 Laserdisc. Size of an LP. Player looked like a pizza oven. High quality image much better that videotape. Limited room. Had to flip it over half way through the movie. Wiped out by DVD.
Pocho, coconut. I used to dig his comedy, and felt it was my own, culturally. Some hip people understood it. He and Chong are legends, but he was white-washed in Granada Hills and Canada.
That was an ugly comment to make about a Chicano icon. Get over yourself.
Everyone is expecting the character from cheech and Chong up in smoke or nice dreams. Cheech doesn't want this interview to be about his stoner chicano character he plays . So this is nice to see him out of character .he wants to be seen and known in this interview as everything else . He is in his speaking "professional self .lol he seems annoyed .
Wow he has aged and still looks high AF! lol, glad to see him doing well! An icon for sure...
This was great ,maybe one day we’ll get a Theo von one
Vlad is such a dry interviewer, it's funny he thinks hes more important than the guests mean while it's the guests that make him relevant
“📕🙄Get Behind Me Heathen” 😂
Cheech was always my favorite. When he was on Nash Bridges he WAS the star on that show
❤ love you my friend 😅dang dude you are high 😂and I love it God Bless 🙏🙏🙏
He has the same life philosophy as Willie Nelson. Smoke weed and play guitar
Bro, making an effort to keep his eyes open.He has cuddle fish eyes.
Hes smoked so much weed his eyes are permanently squinted. how he see with his eyelids only 1mm open 😆
Hahaha he looks stoned even in the thumbnail
