  • Legendary comedian and actor Cheech Marin of the famed Cheech and Chong comedy duo appeared on VladTV, where he spoke about his career, childhood, and family life. Born and raised in South Central LA, Marin grew up in a Mexican family and later learned to speak Spanish more fluently while traveling to Costa Rica. He also touched upon his career journey, which began in comedy during his school days, where he would keep his peers entertained with his wit and humor. He revealed that his first experience with cannabis, a central theme in the Cheech and Chong movies, happened in college. Cheech explained how he formed his comedy duo with Tommy Chong and how they transitioned that success into a string of classic films. Cheech also talked about his solo success in film before speaking about the feds raiding Tommy Chong. Later in the interview, Cheech offers his thoughts on the shift in attitudes towards marijuana and much more.

Great to hear this guy's wisdom. He is truly one of the very best examples from his generation. So many young men in that era did exactly what they were told and walked willingly head first into death and disfigurement in vietnam. They murdered and raped children. They brought back with them nothing but ptsd, hard drug and alcohol addiction, and domestic abuse. They gave into their lesser nature and lived out the most horrendous destructive fantasies man can imagine. And even worse, they claimed to do it all under the color of "honor" and "duty to country."
But cheech said no. By standing up for his beliefs and morals under enormous pressure, this humble man named cheech would end up doing far more to serve the people of America than anyone who ever stepped foot in vietnam. The positivity and goodness that he shared with the world made a real impact, eventhough many overlook him as campy, the laughs and kindheartedness was real. It was shared by hundreds of millions, and it still radiates from him today. A far greater and more positive legacy than any vietnam fighter will ever have. He spoke for the silent majority and gave a voice and a sense of camaraderie to those who were looked down upon and dismissed by the groupthink of society. He achieved all of this through simple "lowbrow stoner humor."
It's a blessing this man is still here to see some of those tables turned and society not only accepting, but celebrating many of those elements of the so called "counter culture" that they had vilified for decades, particularly cannabis. Through all those phases of society cheech remained consistent and steadfast and true to himself. He never sold out or rebranded, but waited for society to come back around to him. He became a true American Icon. Its great to see him have such prosperity in his later years.
I have no doubt if the 70's had produced more men like cheech, America and the world would be a far better place than it is today. He is a great positive example and a true American icon.
God Bless Cheech Marin, and God bless America.

He’s definitely titled to his opinion. 1st amendment is as important or even more so than the 2nd but with the audience he has and followers. He should stay neutral because he has no freaking idea what he is talking about obviously. At least on that part anyways. Great guy no doubt but shit like that gets to me.

In the late 70s, in Pennsylvania, there was a HBO-like pay channel called PRISM, and they played the first 1 or 2 CnC movies, in the DAY TIME, during SUMMER, SO, as 9-10 year olds, we got to watch them almost daily. Then, in 1981, Nice Dreams came out, my favorite, and i bugged my parents until my step-father finally took me to see it. We both laughed our asses off, the entire movie. CnC helped make the 70s so Awesome!

Born in a Mexican home in Los Angeles California from birth to 12 grade, I'm 100% sure Cheech Marin spoke Spanish, but like most Mexican Americans raised in Los Angeles he grew up ashamed of his culture, that's how powerful white people were to make someone feel less than human because they were Black, or Brown and spoke Spanish, which is a European language. Mr. Marin have some guts before you leave this world and tell the truth.
