- I went to my favorite market in Saigon, looking for the freshest ingredients to inspire a new dish. The incredible fresh creamy tofu is what started the idea for this awesome soup. I loved the idea of using tomato juice for the broth. Replacing the wheat noodles with fresh rice noodles, I think this dish could be a new classic.

I love market to table series please do more, your recipe are so creative and utilize all ingredients well ❤
Thank you, I’ll keep doing them
My suggestion, you might have more subscribers if you put Vietnamese subtitles on your videos . I really like your you tube channel.
yeah it would probably make good revenue for him but tbh i prefer his current viewer community better and also creating subtitles will take a lot of time too
Personally i like it's more this way, since I'm already familiar to this kind of food being also Vietnamese like you, i feel like having him making content for those outside of the country would be cooler, since he also translate for the viewers from vietnamese to English in his other series like breakfast for a buck
Your Vietnamese has gotten sooo much better! I’m so impressed, that’s a hard language to learn!
It's true, tofu is highly underrated. I think in the west it's mainly considered a meat substitute, which is a shame because it can be cooked in ways quite different to meats.
And we never get the opportunity to try truly fresh tofu that’s still warm from frying
@@yeschefwithchadkubanoff I heard there are benefits to freezing tofu, something about the ice crystals breaking down its internal structure making the tofu more absorbent? Haven't tried it with fresh tofu though.
@@yeschefwithchadkubanoff You should search for "Đậu hũ nhà làm" store, they will make the tofu directly from the bean in the morning and the quality is unmatched.
Vietnam is like produce heaven........everything is beautiful and delicious!!!
There are so many options for produce
Thank you, Chad. I'm going to cook this for my wife. Hope she likes it
I spent 4 year living in this area and I love this market so much because people sell a lot of fruits and vegetables. Besides, some food stores here serve delicious dishes. Missing this place.
To me it’s the best market
I like how you explain the thought process in cooking the meal. 👍
Glad to hear it
That garlic looks super interesting. Wish I could get that here!
Shoutout Chad, I think you are making some of the best food content right now.
Super appreciate that, thank you
ông này nấu món truyền thống chuẩn thật đấy,, từ lúc đi chợ đến chuẩn bin nguyên liệu rất dõ ràng
Đầu bếp chuyên nghiệp mà .
*rõ ràng
I haven’t been back home in 16 years. Love watching your videos and see VN now. Thank you!
Love this format 👍🏼
Awesome 👍
Your knowledge about our cuisine is really really on point. Kudos to you.
Underrated channel for sure. It’s exactly the content I need in my life
loved this content and watching you improvise in the kitchen, its a real look at what its like to cook at home
Been a viewer for awhile and this was the exact content I enjoy. Great job and I like your son plugging the channel at the end.
Awesome video. I like them all. Keep 'em coming!!
Absolutely need more of you shopping the market parts are definitely my favourite
Love this whole video!! And lol it’s always a treat to get lunch out after a full day of grocery shopping😆 and your kids are so awesome lol
I love this type of video. fantastic !
Thank you
Love this video Chad! I’ve watched it 3 times! I already commented how much I liked the market shopping but I also just think this is a great format for your videos! I guess things will change with the restaurant open.
I loved this video! Your market trip was great! More closeup and explanations of ingredients :)
Great, I’ll try. I’m cautious about being to “aggressive” with filming the vendors unless they are totally ok with it
Hoa thiên lý is not heavenly flower. If you want to translate it, it can be roughly translated to a thousand mile flower. Thiên is a thousand and lý is a metric unit of length which is kind of equal to 1 mile. Hoa thiên lý is the symbol of an undying love which cannot be separated event by a thousand mile.
“Có trà đá không một ly trà đá” your accent is so cute
I laughed a lot when I see your boy talking to us to support you more. He’s so so cute. Yep we will be more supportive.
the real man for family
Chad! You are such a good cook. I hope some day when I travel to Vietnam, I can eat the food you cook at your restaurant .
I enjoy your videos most especially the market to table series
23:46 he looks like wallace from wallace and gromit :)
Also finding learning the expected price of market things useful and interesting!
You made something kinda close to my favoutire Cơm rang dưa bò xD. Beef stir fried with pickled cabbage, tomato, hella lot of garlic and shallot as a side dish to go with fried rice.
The dish definitely inspired the flavors
You’re very good putting all ingredients together and making the soup from scratch. That’s what I do when I have veggies and any kind of meat in the fridge lol. Stir frying thiên lý flowers with garlic is also yummy, if you haven’t tried.
love this format!
Glad to hear it
I know where this market is , I stayed at a hotel very close there
The soft shell crab is expensive 😮
Your kid is so funny 😅
Crab definitely surprised me
big fan of these style of videos
Tan My market is where I grew up going with my Mom and Aunt. We lived in Phu My Hung and we would go to that market in the morning or even late at night. I just love the vibe in that market. It's clean and not too busy like other markets in other districts. They also have $1 vegetarian restaurant and I would go there to eat almost everyday if I'm too lazy cooking.
please do more of these!!!
Ok will do
My god I’m salivating harddd why did I watch this at night 😭😭
😁
Love your videos.
Love watching you cook. I find it relaxing lol
Glad you enjoy it
It's hard to get beef bones because people reserve them a day in advance, especially the Phó restaurant
Lol now I can say you have become a true vietnamese.
True vietnamese definition: go to market to buy stuffs and sit down to have some snack (or sometime a bowl of some delicious goodness)
This is such a good video, even suit to be a cooking tutorial to me
I had to immediately thumb it up when that adorable kid asked me to unprovoked.
So good. Let me order 1 bowl in the morning 😂
I’m trying to get the right space to start selling
"wow look at that big augh turtle that's humongus" flawless quote 😩🙏
Looks good
This series is really great! Your review of your own food is good / interesting, but I think there might be more viewing appeal if there was someone else (besides the kids) also eating the food. It would heighten the impact and the excitement!
That hotpot is nothing I am used to but great recipe for a noodle. Also really cool chilli oil. I want to know how it tastes like
More of this please.😅❤
Ok more coming
That looks amazing. I'd change it just a little and use napa cabbage instead of bông thiên lý and nạm instead of bò tái.
Món anh nấu giống món canh dưa (cải) chua, nguyên liệu gồm: gân bò, cải chua, cà chua, gừng, tỏi, hành tím, ớt, nêm với nước mắm. Ăn nóng với cơm khá ngon
Your kid is so cute🤣🤣
Please cook more noodle soup ❤
Good night from borneo
Fried tofu is actually one of my favorites. Hard to come by. The last time I bought some at a Chinese supermarket turned out to be made with rancid oil... The freeze dried japanese stuff is very good but they only sell it combined with Udon noodles...
Lol you are turning into my mom. "Troi oi!" :)
😂
Chad, not a bad experiment. I wonder if you could take a vietnamese everyday meal and recreate fine dine dish, where everything is one bite. Recreating those flavours.
man I scrolled through the comment section and surprisingly no one asked about the random big ass turtle 😂
good 🌷
Small squash flower has a beefy aroma when stir-frying. So you can make vegan beef dishes with it.
I like your son haha😂
Great video!! Only feedback is to use tripod for your cooking portion.
Hey Chad, if you ever find yourself in Japan, hit me up and I'll take you out for some ramen in Tokyo.
I need to stop watching your videos when i'm hungry.
Cook Vietnamese foods very meticulously….but very delicious….😋😋
bruh the crab-selling lady was trying to rip you off!
Agree with you. But I think because she tell him the prices so he can decide to buy it or not❤
no, that's soft-shell crabs, those are always much more expensive than regular crabs, especially when they're fresh and alive.
I was caught off guard, that seemed way high
My Mom bought some fresh made tofu from a Korean supermarket - best tofu I ever had! I 100% agree with you that tofu is underrated. Do you know where the garlic you prefer is grown?
sup, chad...thanks for the vid. i have a question for ya. is there a class that teaches the locals how to make american food? example: class to make a burger, to make spaghetti, a steak and how to age it, american bbq, mac n cheese, roast beef, etc. one class, one dish. i don't want to take 4 yrs of schooling, i just want a two hourish class. thank again
brought me back to the time one auntie sold me 1kg mangosteen for 300,000 vnd. I tried to bargain as my mom told to 150,000vnd. And then learned that I still wayyy over paid. that 1kg mangosteen only worth at max 100,000 vnd. So now I always call my mom or bf and let them bargain for me since i have no clue about vietnam market price.
I like how they up the price by 1000% because you're a foreigner. I'd walk away too
Definitely a specialty item
"Thien Ly" flowers taste a lot better when they they are fully bloomed and less bitter. Their bud form is just too over powering in the dish.
Looks very tasty
I want to see you talking more vietnamese to vietnamese people
❤
I'm so jealous you get to eat fresh food here United States We don't
Thank you so much
Love to chat. Love your channel I love your channel. I made a large batch of sticky rice. I soak it in water overnight. I put msg/mushroom seasoning/salt in the soaking water. I fucked up and put too much Msg so I have that sour ish after taste. Any tricks to reduce that after taste
I like the idea but I I probably wouldn’t put direct seasoning in the soaking liquid, a tea/juice/broth should be fine but I would wait on the seasoning for when I’m cooking it or after cooking
Nói tiếng việt giỏi ghê❤
We call it lonely garlic in Vietnamese
nice video! love the market trip, if possible, please do it again
Will do 👍
Ông bạn này sành ăn kiểu người việt mua thịt bò về xào bông thiên lý mua cả rau thì là nữa chứ ở việt nam rất nhiều người không biết thank you video của bạn
😋😋😋❤️❤️😊
there are some things you might have to do with the thumbnails tbh, they looked really good a few vids ago tho
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
that garlic would be like $30 here. lol
I think "bông Thiên Lý" means a thousand miles flower. Why? I'm not sure, there must be a story behind it.
You Cooking so well I like is Amazing 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍🤪🤪🤪😛😛😛😋😋😋🌶🌶🌶
Thank you so much
i understand cooking the beef in the bowl with boiling broth but usually thats done with way thinner sliced beef so they’re medium rare immediately but yours are still quite raw which i mean who cares but i just had to say it
Can get beef bone why don’t you used beef stock , can be cubes or liquid both are available in market .😊
You should teach your kids how to use spoon, look how hard they were at 22:31
Kênh nên có thêm phụ đề tiếng việt cho khán giả VN xem dễ hiểu ❤
i think you should open a restaurant
Working on it
😋💛👍😇
Missed Vietnam. Just want to remind you it’s week 1 of NFL football today. Go Eagles…
WWHERE CAN I GET THE SHIRT?
Chadkubanoff.com 👍
How do you avoid getting sick when the meat is out in open air like that?
Thịt tươi bán hết trong ngày thì bị cái gì
Good job chad, thanks for what you do
P/s i know you live with your family in hochiminh city, but i'm a big fan of Mc talk viet nam(not of you ha ha ha)
Could you introduce me to her when you and your family come back to hanoi please?
Thank you so much if you can help me
Have a nice day to you and your family chad
How much is one hundred gram …?
Đây được gọi là món gì ? Tôi thấy cách nấu rất lạ . 😂
what happened to the really high quality videos that you made for a bit? still good content though
I personally don't like the dill. The smell is probably something I don't like about it. I think your soup is better with pineapple to get that sweet citrus flavor.
