This is an audio demo of a custom sound bank of 64 patches (32 single and 32 double) for the Oberheim OB-X8 Synthesizer programmed by professional sound designer Matia Simovich / INHALT (Sequential, Elektron, Roland, Novation, Akai Pro ...).
Matia was one of the sound designers on the shipping factory banks for the Oberheim OB-X8 (patch 1 "It's an Oberheim" and many others in the X8 factory bank) and this library continues in that well established INHALT sound.
Each patch is presented in two formats: double and single. The main emphasis of this bank is the double patch version which is a true stereo version (4 voices on the Left, 4 voices on the Right per key) which features a super wide, naturally chorused massive stereo field version of the single patch. Should you not want the stereo version, each patch also has a corresponding single patch version (full 8 voices).
The sysex file is split into two separate files (one for the double bank and one for the single bank) and BOTH must be loaded for this library to work. Single patches write into the OB-Sx bank and Double patches write into the entirety of the Double Bank.

These patches sound incredible. Very vintage 80's for sure!!!! An OB-X8 would compliment a Prophet 10 Rev 4 so nicely!!!!
Yep. Totally compliments it
That’s good validation - I have the prophet 10 reissue and have this one reserved in LA
@@rykuu8395 That's wonderful. I also have a Prophet 10 Rev 4 and hope to one day be able to add an OB-X8 to my setup as well.
For years I had an OB-Xa and Prophet 5 as my primary synths. Great tag team. The Oberheim is the Les Paul and the Prophet a Fender Strat. What more do you need?
@@jamesmeeker6933 What else do you need? Richard Barbieri to program them. His Prophet/Oberheim sounds on 'Tin Drum' are divine.
Great sounds....and absolutely perfect musical passages for demonstrating them.
The raw sound of this sounds amazing and great sound design as always!

Love from Vaterland

Great programming as always! 💪🏻 Could you make something really gritty and dirty? It’s the only sound I haven’t heard yet in any demos. I wonder of it’s the instrument or the programming 🤔
The x8 isnt really a gritty synth and an oberheim wouldnt be the first thing I’d use for those sounds sans maybe the xpander. Maybe with use of xmod …
@@INHALTVIDEO I meant as gritty as the OBX or VS-1 from Abstrakt. I quite find a difference there.
Are there bell sounds among the presets?
Not that I remember. It was more about highlighting the true stereo aspect of the double layers
Woop woop! Love your Prophet 6 patches, will likely download these too :)
🥂🥂
Very nice!
Would be nice to hear the OB-X8 in this kind of funky context: ruclips.net/video/wS3t6N7IRqk/видео.html
These sound fantastic!👍I have seen comments elsewhere that complain about the weak bass & lack of 'grit', but your patches demonstrate that all is good!👍Nice 'tip of the hat' to Simple Minds & other great artists!👍p.s. If you don't mind a suggestion....perhaps you could take the audio you recorded for each patch, run it through some effects (which the X8 lacks), and post a second video, so we could hear how'd they sound in a gig/studio performance?🤔
I like such ’dry’ demos. I know what my FX sound like; I wanna know what the *synth* sounds like.
People who think it lacks bass probably have Beats and BOSE as their preferred listening tools.
The OBX8 has a ton of bass and deff has that grit too.
It will be interesting to see how people use this in their arsenal.
@@dankeplace Absolutely right, deep basses low ends, transients, a lot of grit and character, I guess ppl is speaking without never play one and listening to demos around the net without "listening". My OB-X8 is what the best analog I have in my studio since the Jupiter 6 age...speaking about poly analog.. a very nice warm monster!
I'll be glad to accept a donation of an OB-X8 and would have eternal gratitude towards the donator!donation!!
Sounds great. I'll grab these when my X8 finally arrives
Hoping to see you give the trigon a going over
Nice one M8.
🥂🥂
Nice bank as usual Inhalt! ❤
🥂🥂♥️💪
So beatiful! Sounds exactly like my Oberheim Matrix 1000! ❤️
It is absolutely a great sounding synth , I don’t know why something is missing compared to the real one. It is more obvious for me on pads (take any retrosound demos as comparison)
It is not psychological I’m sure and I have no issue using a clone to replace an old synth. Anyway great music can be created with this synth … the mystery of sound color differences won’t be clarified for me until someone makes s deep dive technical comparison
As a long time user of an ob8, vintage two voice and other oberheim synths, I don’t really think anything is missing here … it sounds like an oberheim through and through
@@INHALTVIDEO no disrespect I believe we can all hear differently and this is fine to have different opinions (I’m also owning an ob-8, TVS , ob-sx…). If I try to put words on a ob-x pads : mellow and very emotional sad … like here :
m.ruclips.net/video/C_GUbRiv81w/видео.html
To my ears the ob-x8 is not providing this dimension, maybe it’s a programming issue, honestly I don’t know…
I think the OB-6 sounds better then the original and this one.. 🤷 so who knows it's just preference....I like all of them though.. they just sound different.. but obviously they are different..
@@INHALTVIDEO I have a TVS Pro and an OB-X8 on its way. Sound-wise do you think is pointless keeping both?
@@isham16 To me the main differences I hear from the OBX and OB-X8 is how close to your face the original sounds in comparison. Somehow it sounds more present and touching. Also I hear more animation going on between the voices, more organic, and deeper and/or louder volumen on the low registers. Programming aside, the music played also influences a lot on how you react to every instrument demo.
