    I have that exact amp. It is not 75 watt output. That what you read is the input it needs. It is a 25 watt output. Hence the name 25R. People often make that mistake that they think the wattage on the back is the output. But it isn't. I know it is loud and you would think it is more than 25 watts. Notice the number on the back is next to the 110V. That is the volts it needs to be plugged into. Then the 75 watts is there. Meaning the wattage it needs to operate. Great review other wise.

    I wouldn't say I liked the amp but I did like your enthusiasm for it!

    Amp sounds more lively and responsive swapping the speaker with Ragging' Cajun. Speaker swaps are the biggest improvement over everything else to getting a better sound. Most manufacturers use the cheapest designed made speaker in these smaller style combo amps to reduce cost in manufacturing. You just did a major upgrade here.

      Yes, I agree! It was startling how much better it sounded. I really loved the amp after the upgrade.

    This is a 25-watt amplifier. Hence 25R. The R stands for Reverb. The 75 watt marking on the back is the amount of power it draws from the receptacle.

    Nice demo and to the point. The overdrive on a Frontman will never sound that great, even with a new speaker, but I did notice improvements with toggling back and forth on your video. Both clean and OD channel sounded warmer and not so harsh, so worth the speaker change for sure.

      Thanks. I was quite happy with it. You're right, though, the overdrive is a little ugly.

    Fine demo, thanks! Ragin Cajuns cost a bit more in 2022, but I still bought one. Good speaker.

    The "operation" was a success! Wow. Good job.

    They cost double the price nowadays, at least at Thomann in Europe, but I guess it's still worth the change, they sound great

    I also put the raging Cajun into my FENDER super champ X2 and it improves the over all volume and tone slightly but it took the shimmer away, if I could just find a week balanced speaker that retains the shimmer but added the good characteristics of the Cajun it would be pervert for me. Glad ever think worked out for you !☺

      perfect not pervert, thanks again RUclips for changing my PROPERLY spelled words.

      Haha. I noticed the error. Did you get your dream speaker? I'm also looking for a speaker with nice treble but not too harsh or ice-picky.

      Well, then choose one of their MANY other options besides teh Ragin Cajun. I chose the RedCoat Ramrod, it'll be here in a few hours. I too didn't want to give up the sparkle as much so I split the difference with my choice. It'll have most of the highs and plenty of guts. Let's keep in mind, stock this amp has WAY too might treble, most people run the treble knob at 1 and the mid at 5 or more and the bass at 3 to make it sound "balanced". That said, removing SOME of the highs with a more serious speaker makes good sense, I think the Ragin Cajun in just a tiny bit too far. So, maybe hit their website and you'll find the listening/sound test page where you can compare the exact same guitar tracks to all of their speakers. Maybe you'll make the same upgrade I did. If you wish to hear my choice, just message me.

    WOW ! That was very good improvement the ! clean channel ACTUALLY sounds like DELUXE Reverb and the gain channel ACTUALLY sounds like a tube amp maybe Mesa boogie, but wow that clean channel sounds so Good.

    It took away some of those high frequencies, and made it sound warmer... Reassures a person that "Hey, your bridge pick-up is not useless after all." "Say Whaaaaaat???"

    I tried this replacement and had to put the Ragin Cajun in a Peavey amp instead.
    I could not get the Fender speaker out! No matter how I would twist and turn it, the speaker would not come out the hole in the back. I did not try to remove the amp control 'box' that was in the way. Was there a trick to get the Fender out of the cabinet?
    The Ragin Cajun made the Peavey sound super. Super Upgrade!

      My amp let go of the speaker easily once it was unscrewed. are you saying you were completely able to remove the screws but then the speaker itself didn't have enough clearance to come out of the back of the amp?

    • @kep67
      @kep67 8 лет назад +1

      Yep, speaker had no clearance to come out. The control box / guts are in the way. My Fender 25 internals looks just a bit different than yours. I'll just have to see if I can remove that lower back panel.

    • @davidthegood
      @davidthegood  8 лет назад

      Rats. I would go ahead and take off the panel. Even if you have to slit it out of there with a knife or something, it would be easy to repair - and fortunately, it's not like the amp has real collector value or anything.

      You can swing down the front of the cab to change it. There are 2 screws on each side of the cab. Undo the top two. One on each side. Then the front piece that the speaker is attached to will pivot down like a door. I have seen a RUclips video on it but can not find it now. But it is that simple. Two screws and done.

    • @kep67

      I see. I see that now.
      Thank You! I'll give that a try.
      much appreciated

    Does this ragin cajun speaker pair well with multi effects?? + would it be suitable for like heavy rock-metal sounds + is the amp as loud as it was before u change out the speakers

    • @davidthegood
      @davidthegood  8 лет назад

      Yes. I've run some serious shred on my petals through the amp and it handles it much better with the Rajin Cajun than with the original speaker. The amp is louder now and can be cranked higher without breaking up than it was before. It was like I turned a practice amp into a small state amp. Still can't believe the upgrade. Just the size of the magnet was amazing.

    • @oatlertprasertkong5287
      @oatlertprasertkong5287 8 лет назад

      Nice, thanks for replying, would you mind sending me a video of the shredding and metal sound this amp is capable of?? if tht is too much to ask for then its ok. :))

    • @davidthegood
      @davidthegood  8 лет назад

      I can't, unfortunately, because the amp is currently being kept about 1,000 miles away from me until I can get it shipped to my current location... otherwise I'd be happy to.

    The grille on my vibrates a lot. Do you have this issue? How did you correct it.

    • @davidthegood
      @davidthegood  8 лет назад

      I didn't have that problem with mine but I have seen it before. If you can tuck a little felt in there it will help. Everything has to be tight or it'll buzz.
