Was smiling the whole time lmao 😂
How can i learn photography with you and when are you coming to india ???
Always a joyful man!
Me too
So was I when I saw you doing OK! Cheers lads all the way from Croatia 😎
Takes a lot of courage to walk onto a construction site like you guys did. Awesome effort! I did this five years ago at a construction site in Saint Kilda. I thought I had permission but turns out not from the right person. The project manager rocked up and thought I was from a current affair!! It took some quick talking to get myself out of that sticky situation!
I think the best thing to take from this definitely is that pushing through rejection and just keep on keeping on will get you places, assuming the people you did give product to like it, that could open up doors to many more jobs in the future and it's good networking regardless
Also don’t try to slip into a strict corporate ladder offering unplanned services because they can’t even approve anything
This actually took some balls to do! I work in construction and half the time I’m scared to go in the site office… and I’m SUPPOSED to be there lol. Cool to see how you managed those situations!
having nothing to lose is a beautiful thing
@@kearlthekreator oh totally! Works the same way when I’m making videos. Even if things go wrong it’s all good cause it makes the video better. Win/win 🙂
Bro I did some work similar to your last one, at a smaller construction company, got paid $500 to do some drone stuff over a few weeks. But at the same time I took some aerial shots for their neighbour and she baked me a fucking cake! That's a huge W in my book 😂
500 for a few weeks? You gotta up your price man...
@@tykeboy16 it was 30 mins a week over a few weeks haha.
@@gedreeves9692 ah true, not bad lol. Good on ya man
Typically on things like this you go and toss it up take some shots and send em to them.
And the best feeling ever is when you get a call back from the ones that rejected you saying they love your work and would love to use your service this time, because they saw what you are capable of!
A friend of mine works at a solar company. He always laughed at me for playing with my "toy drones" About 6 months ago I get a phone call from him asking me to teach him how to fly. His boss wanted shots of the job site every hour during the day, and he was "volunteered" to do them. Now, that's all he does. No more dirty work. And he got a raise. Everyone hates him because all he does is report how much work is\is not getting done. Lol
I started targeting this niche about 2 months ago. Now I have 6 builders and developers on monthly content packages. It's definitely a great niche!
What do you give them in these monthly packages and how much do you charge
What drone do you use?
These videos are so great! So great to show people how to deal with rejection, and to never give up. I've been there also at the start of my career as a video editor, knocking on the door of every post house in my city asking if I can work for free. People really appreciate that level of persistence and dedication. Keep it up :)
yooooo!! These money making series were a killer back in the day. Still remember the walking into car dealerships like it was yesterday & used it as motivation to get out there and start getting after it!!
It's always great to see in these style videos you do is pushing through the rejections, another ace vid Mike. Always great to see how you approach people to gain work too, that's the nerve wracking bit.
I loved watching this. It doesn't matter what gear you have or what you're capable of if you can't walk in front of someone and ask for the work. Admittedly, this is hard to watch when you know it's your own problem. There isn't some magic formula to get started, just that drive to go ask and work through your fear. Obviously, there could be some tools like an Ipad and a portfolio of sample work, pre-established pricing/expectations that would inevitably help your conversion rate...but, dang....seriously, thank you for putting this out there. If you're not asking anyone for the work, there's nothing to convert. Look forward to checking more of your content out!
This is one of the best videos you've made Mike. Keep doing more of this concept, it's a lot of fun to watch!
Underrated. Underrated. Underrated. I love how they showed what a true sales process should look like. Talking to people, learning from rejection, and talking to more people, until you get the job!
absolutely loved this kind of video, please do more of these! this was class.
I watched this video because I work in construction management and admire your confidence when trying to sell your services. Basically what I wanted to comment was that one of those guys was right, you would have more luck going through a marketing department for the construction company or through the owner who is contracting them. Chances are any of those multimillion dollar projects you walked on to already has a professional media company contracted, and almost every construction site has a security camera that is mounted to do a time-lapse of the building over the years it takes to build. You will only have success when you talk to the people who have the authority to spend money. Thats the owners.
Preach. Best thing - you don't need experience to reach that conclusion, just common sense. Have a think before you start making a video: okay, who pays for the videos? Who chooses the photo company? Where do the photos land?
bro you really are great after 4th rejection i was like are you even going to try it but thats what you are all about never give up !! your works are great and awesome.
This is very motivating that there's no excuses to find work. If you did this every day for a week you'd probably walk away with some jobs and solid contacts. Would be interested in seeing you do this change with other industries.
Just woke up,having a coffee and enjoying the video, what a great way to start the day!Love this types of videos, cheers Mike
Great vlog hope to see more of this type off stuff in the future 🙂
Congratulations on getting out there and doing this! Nothing like meeting people face to face and making that human connection. Who knows what the long term relationships and jobs will be?! There’s a great book I’ve read (they aren’t paying me for this btw) called “Go For No”. Helps to reframe the process of reaching out and cold calling. But kudos to you guys! Cheers!
Please more videos like this! I loved also the barbershop one. Keep it up!
Good stuff man. Raw and uncut. I totally feel you on the going into the principals office lol
Massive respect for putting yourselves out there lads! Great work!
I love this type of videos, you also show the rejections, and I like that!
I always admire your confidence, great video man
AWESOME! liked the video when you got the drone out xD
i really love these types of videos, keep it up!!
As someone who worked at a larger scale construction company (about 400 employees) I can say that the site or project managers don't really have the ability to pay you for that. Everything media related went through the pr person and the managers just manage (lol) their teams or subcontractors
I really enjoyed this video. 🙃
This is why I love people who live in the countryside, so much friendlier and more laid back. (Not all of them are like that but majority are)
I should start looking at work in the county 🤔
FYI: I smashed the like button 👀
#photographer
This is great. Would love to see more of these.
I LOVE these kind of videos Mike! Keep it up!
Really thanks for the tips. Photography is awesome!!
Glad it was helpful!
A solid demonstration of ‘to get them interested, be interesting’ and get the jobs.
love it! That's pretty much how I got started with paid jobs! Literally just walking in and talking about what we do
Not a photographer but really enjoyed this and watched the whole thing, great job man! Really enjoyed your style
Glad you enjoyed it bro! Cheers 🤙
such a solid vid - keep it up bro
I appreciate videos like this, thanks Mike
Glad you enjoyed it 😁🤙
I'd love to see some real estate from you guys, love your approach and content.
Greetings from Brazil! ✌️😁
Great work. I always look forward to your videos.
Essentially door to door sales, its really hard work but some people have the knack for it. There's lots of new builds in the suburbs if people wanted to try it.
ngl, This just changed my life and perspective on how i can Take my hobby to the next level. I can’t Thank you Enough :)
That down the hall vid was a game changer. Good job guys.
I really enjoy photography and videography as a hobby. I'm studying to be a civil engineer right now and was unsure if I wanted to do it as a career.
I think you just gave me an idea on how I can combine my hobby and day job and enjoy working in the field. Maybe even open up a business doing this one day 😆
Thoroughly enjoyable video! Excellent work by both of you 🙌
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think that kind of thing would definitely work if you were in the industry and had some contacts to start with, but enjoyed watching you fight through the rejection!
The boys are litterally the best vloggers in the entire youtube, the content and video quality is soo good and unique!
Kind words man thanks for watching ❤️
Great stuff dude, never seen that from that perspective 👍
I know how hard sometimes is to get to the right person on a site, that actually can make any decisions and that's probably the most common problem with those big sites as you aproach them.
Since you went on those privete jobs things were very different and that's where I'am.
I own a small company and I make decisions on my own so it's all up to me if I need anything...
Also there's a big question on how I wanna show my work to the client's and that's why I decided to do vlogs and get in to filming, instead of getting a photographer on site.
It's hard to say when and how I wanna get things filmed or shoot foto's and that's where having my own camera with me gest very handy.
And last thing is, that there are some type of jobs where you wouldn't wanna put your 3k camera around cus of dust for example or paint being sprayed that can kill that in seconds.
I know how important marketing for a small company is and that's why I believe it's a must have for today's bussiness but it's kind a hard-ish area to get into
You did it right. The only thing that u missed was the oportunity of handing over your contact information, even if they don't want to hire u. Sometimes they just say no because they don't need it right there, but after some time when they need it they might reach out to you. So all the time that u spent going into those places weren't a waste of time.
Love this vid man
@Northborders thank lordy for yall man. As soon as I hit a wall or wesr out in this biz, you release another banger! Epic AF. As fuck. Not AutoFocus. Lol.
Excelent work!!!
XDDD this is soooo nostalgic, great video mate 👍
great job Mike! you are by far the most raw and honest RUclipsr! keep up the fantastic creativity and fun :)
I appreciate that! Will do 🤙
@@NorthBorders Samo Gas!!!
i love your work man
We love this type of videos
yup.. i remember the good ol days of these..
LOVE these
I like people like you because you have the courage to accept rejection and move on to another
Actual content creation, sick!
I am from Pakistan and your videos really make me to go out and ask people if they want my services thank you man!
2:06 That was near a set up. I like the question she asked. To make sure she could trust you.
This was great!!! Can you do more of these?
This was so great to watch
Enjoyed this a lot MIKEYBOYYY!!!
Love the video guys, but this type of stuff really only works for small businesses, if you want to get into Advertising/Commercial Photography you have to deal with the Marketing Team and get contracted by them since there the ones handling social media and websites that your work will be used for, I'm a photographer for 3 Advertising Companies out here in Las Vegas and I make $2,000-$5,000 per job depending on the size of the property that I'm photographing
Sweeet bro! Good for you man. How do you find places like this in a different state? I can use better paying clients. I’m in Cali.
I've done a few jobs for small businesses here in my neighborhood, but I eventually want to make some good money photographing for a big corporation
I've been very fortunate to get all my work through my Photography on my Instagram Page, I primarily focus on interesting Architecture Shots of the Las Vegas Strip and eventually got contacted by an Advertising Company out here to do some work for them, from there I started to meet and build friendships with other people in the Advertising industry that also needed photos and that's how I got more jobs.
@@MediaBuccLA there's Advertising companies everywhere you just gotta network, also social media managers are the ones you want to talk to when trying to land these kind of jobs
best vid yet hands down ! laughed the whole way 😂
Hahaha awesome to hear 🤙
Awesome stuff guys
I could watch these videos all day keep up the good work guys
Glad you like them!
Damn as I was watching I thought you guys had over a million subs, your quality was amazing! (like that drone shot ;) )
Ima drop a sub to be one of the og's cause u guys gonna blow up 100%
keep up the awesome content! :D
Ayeee cheers legend 🤙
@@NorthBorders No need to thank me, credit where credit due ;)
Wow, kudos to you to making this vids
I love this video man
I love this kind of contents
SUBBED! good stuff.
Thanks for the sub!
Some time ago I learned that there is "agriculture photography" genre, which has tons of money. At least in EU there was big demand for it especially when EU was granting money to farmers. Maybe try that? :D
awesome Video!
The thing you never mentioned is the potential of follow-up work. You might have lost 10 dollars in the past 2 days, but if that builder throws you 10 jobs over the next year, you are now 2,500 dollars (if not more) ahead of the game. He refers you to a few mates, and you might have a real business.
I like going to these private places, hotels and Airbnb spots to take a few photos, but I've never met the owners or anything. I just talk to the security people really nicely and tell them I'm a graphic designer and photographer. They just let me in:)
Appreciate this
YOu need to go to the in-between firms doing work in suburban settings, firms not large enough to have marketing departments yet, but big enough to be buying advertising. Also, get some business cards printed up to disburse to ad agencies as a second option to their staff or in-house photographers for overflow.
4:06 you should be talking to the client because that is where the partner also are included and where you can makes good money but now it’s so competitive for this career as a photographer but you might want to try urban and from the city jobs
Most large projects have a contracted photographer based on the architecture or engineering firms or run it through their marketing departments. Site superintendents and project managers don’t usually have the authority to sign off on this. I do photo/video full time for an engineering firm and only coordinate with the staff on site to confirm time and location.
Who would you recommend going to or getting in contact with?
@@barrylyons8102 marketing departments inside of the Architects, Engineers, and Construction companies. I work full time for a firm, it’s becoming more and more common for those companies to build in-house teams for a lot of different reasons but it’s not impossible to do freelance. Specifically within architecture, I see them hiring specialized architectural photographers that are well known within their industry. I’d recommend having a portfolio put together and reaching out with that.
@@agent00immpression yeah I have a website atm and stuff. Do you have insta? I’ve a few more questions
Awesome video, the lads out for a wee jaunt. :)
Pls put all this content this guve us pump motivation... ❤
even though there was no profit made from the actual shoot (apart from the youtube side) the video is more over-impressive as it actually shows that you are not going to be making money from the get go. more like a realistic and honest video if I'm honest.
That last part was dope as hell.
I love this kind of video
Interesting video 😮
Great content, pushing through rejection is the big one. Thanks dude, have a shit one.
This is exactly something I would do lol. Love this video
Great video
every large construction company I've come across in the last couple years has already had an employee on site with a drone like the site manager.
I've had a lot more success shooting the building after it's done for their portfolio.
I did this a few years back! Sometimes it's just a numbers game and you only need one to start the referral train - I get gigs now based off a £50 gym video I did in 2019 😅
lets go!!!! so awesome to hear!
And this, guys is the best tuto how to start a business
Damn now I want to see what you produced for them!
Bro walked in no fear at all
I know this actually blew my mind. I’ve never been this confident in my entire life hahah
sick mate
This is so interesting 😮
The one time as a photographer where you actually have to wear high vis 🤔 not just wearing it to avoid the weird general public looks 🤣
Hahahah ikr actually using it for it’s purpose 😅
If you have to use a tripod on a job site consistently - i highly recommend getting a bright yellow TRANSIT tripod and putting a ball head on it...
No ONE will pay attention to you with the yellow tripod - a regular tripod ALWAYS draws attention
@@BracaPhoto That's a good tip, the transit tripods make it look like you're using geodesic measuring equipment!
I work in a custom cabinet business atm, thinking about offering this service for the homeowners and contractors for there socials/ websites, easily have an access to homeowners and contractors, so let’s see how this goes
Thank you for the great video. I have only one question do you have an FAA Licensed (Drone Pilot)
Everywhere on the internet, it says you must have a commercial shooting license. But it is a headache. I'd like to know how it is accurate, and in my understanding, it is not such a thing as someone checking it anyway. Please share your opinion about it.
I own a small marketing company, I actually pay between 500 and 1500 per day for someone to go out and shoot footage for our clients.
Oiiii Oiiii Oiii, this is great Mike!
