I bought the Uhlic repeater in Nov 2019. Despite being packaged petty well, there was some damage that took some doing to resolve with the help of the guys at Uhlic. I set it up with the rod in place for 5 days and then removed the rod. I felt great when I caught 7, 11, and 10 on consecutive nights. The next few nights the catch declined. I reset the rod for six more days and when I removed the rod again, the catch was unbelievable. I caught 23, 29, and 27 on consecutive nights. The two weeks with this trap brought my rat problem under control. And this trap is awesome!
Dear Jim, what do you use to prevent unwanted animals? Squirrels, skunks, possum, etc?
@@hokimocus the only animals I have caught that I would prefer not to catch are some chicks. I am going to form a larger piece of hardware cloth around the trap to prevent the chicks from getting to the bait tray yet allow the rats access. A similar or the same device should keep other animals out as well. Good luck!

If you caught that many in one trip, that probably means there is double that number holed up somewhere. Be interesting to see what would happen in a collab with you and the mink man.... you trap, then he comes behind and lets the mink so recon in the holes.

Thank you for recommending the Uhlik Repeater for rats & the larger one for raccoons. My rat trap just came in and I will be using it in the metro Denver area today.

Thanks to this channel, I bought one of the small Uhlik repeater traps. I put the trap inside the garage and caught some six rats. I then put the trap just outside the garage, and ended up catching three skunks (one at a time.) I did take the dead rat carcasses and threw them outside the garage. They were gone the next morning. This was before I caught the skunks, and found they were the probable reason for the rats being gone. I did find that using a snap trap inside the cage made quick work of the rats that were caught. The bait in the repeater trap was sunflower seeds. The bait on the snap trap was a small tootsie roll along with some peanut butter. I found the tootsie roll worked phenomenally well!

Probably one of your better videos - lots of action and very informative! This is one well designed trap. Best thing is that it doesn't seem to spook the other rats when one is caught and just keeps on catching them.

Abe Romoa - Since learning that I have stopped watching any ads. I used to do so for creators I liked, but after finding out that they probably aren’t getting the revenue from it, I’ve never watched another ad.

I bought one of these Uhlik traps on Shawn's recommendation six months ago. In that time I've caught 10 rats with conventional snap traps, and *zero* rats with the Uhlik.
All of the traps have been set and used in my side yard.
I'm not sure if my rats are too smart or too dumb or too well-fed or what, but Uhlik doesn't work in my suburban California neighborhood.
For reference I have caught both brown and norway rats, with bodies (not including tail) between 6-10 inches long.

Shawn, I have to say that watching your videos actually helped me cope with my fear of mice and rats. There was a point in my life where watching 12 rats all in one area might have sent me into shock, but your trap videos made the sight of them less terrifying.

Turkey vultures must have terrific eyesight as well or? I was golfing a couple of weeks ago and someone hit a wild turkey with their drive. Within 5 minutes 5 or six turkey vultures were circling overhead. Thing is, the turkey wasn't dead, just injured. I wonder if they can smell stress hormones as well? I guess their job is just to ride thermals all day waiting for something to happen?
They're like the Grim Reaper with a terrific appetite.
Probably good eyesight. It's hard to say if Turkey Vultures have a generally good sense of smell, or rather are specifically sensitive to the mercaptans of rotting flesh. Tests have shown that they are good spotters of gas-line leaks: the companies add ethyl mercaptan as a trace-gas to alert to a leak by home-owners. But the vultures will also find if the gas is leaking from entire pipelines out in the middle of nowhere.
@@-danR Wow, that is an interesting fact! Now I know that I see vultures circling overhead but there are no dead animals, might be a good idea to take a sniff and see if there's a gas leak.
Usually a gas pipeline will have signage to show its location and will also have a service track nearby.

hi shawn i love your videos! i was wondering if maybe a little bit of fabric or foam padding under the trap door to stop it from slamming so loud and scaring the other rats away would work? It seems like in other videos the rats know that the slamming sound means trap
dude yeah i came here to comment this. foam padding on both sides would quiet it so it wouldnt scare the other rats off. you would catch so many more. someone should tell the inventor to add this

Some roasted peanuts in the shell is good bait.
It works surprisingly well for catching mice and or small rats.
And I suppose the Gee’s wire crawdad trap, w/ middle extension, would work on slightly larger furry pests with the bigger cone openings.

So Ive been watching mousetrap monday for almost a year now. I hear you say the words humanly dispatched.... but how exactly do you do it? We have a chicken pen, and everytime I catch a rat, I just dunk the whole trap in a bucket of water til the sucker is dead... but I want to know how you do it, just incase there is a better way to do it?!? Thanks bro, I appreciate all the vids and saddened by the troubles you go thru with RUclips.

Nicolas Bonny. He definitely takes them on a swimming trip. The trap is galvanized so it won’t rust any faster than it would if it were in the rain once in a while. You can also tell by the way they looked at The time they were served to the turkey buzzards. Of course he can’t say or even hint, but that is pretty much the quickest and fastest way to send them to heaven. 👍

This is a very impressive rat trap given how cautious those buggers are!
I like how you get in trouble for posting your links and your videos get demonetized sometimes but you are one of the few people who consistently post humane rodent traps even when they are lethal you make sure they are taken out quickly a release when they are non invasive. But the top videos are videos of rats being electrocuted until they are set on fire or tortured in glue traps.
