Still, a 3400G or 4650G might be something I might build in the future whenever prices for those go down, then this m2000 can go into an optiplex or gift to someone
Workstation CPUs hold up amazingly my x5690 still is amazing and I always could upgrade to a dual Xeon rig but might just upgrade to a 12th gen i3 since the problem I have is the lack of code instructions that the x5690 can handle so I can't utilize the new instructions that the new PCSX2 emulator has for more performance, and I cannot run Xbox 360 emulators.
Could u include work loads like render etc? I mean this is where those Quadros shine. They are workstation GPUS. Would be cool if u include tests like this beside the gaming tests.
Still way better than modern day integrated graphics. If you're looking for a cheap solution to play esports titles and your CPU doesn't have a graphics driver, this will certainly get you by for $120-160 USD. That's about half the price of a 1050 right now so I'll take it!
I've got a quadro k4200 from the same year, and I've been kinda impressed with it. It's not a good gaming card by any stretch of the imagination, but it's only a single slot card, and it holds up pretty okay in some games. It's still not a bad little card in terms of workstation use either.
Always wanted a Quadro K5000.... Thanks for the video! My thoughts: not sure if the Quadro is truly using all of its cores, but the CPU is BARELY being used, at 30% typical, where it's been running at 70% with some of your other gfx cards. 🤔
honestly depends which one and what kind of ram is being used in said APU first gen apus wouldn't stand a chance, as an example (rocking a 2700u on my laptop) if we make the question black and white, though? As in, "are there ANY APUs or Intel w/ Xe that could beat it?" the answer is "yes"
I had to fight to get one of those for my CAD machine back in the day. The dept manager was such a Luddite, I had to explain the situation in duty cycle relative to his welder... even then it was a good six months of me working at 1/4 speed before it happened. I do remember a bios flash and minor HW mod to turn a reg card into a quadro
The P2000 Quadro is a GTX 1060 with a 160 bit bus and 5gb of GDDR5, and they get nearly 50% higher frames than the K5000. Just sayin' Hey, I've been seeing a lot of Radeon R9 350 gpu's w/ 4gb of GDDR5 for sale for like $40 usd and free shipping. Any chance you'd be interested in getting one to show how well/poorly it is? Thank you.
Have one with an additional Tesla card, which is a weird combination. They were designed to work together in SLI-like mode, but without the ribbon connecting them. The Tesla accelerator half can run by itself, and has a single DVI output. It doesn't have the full strength of a K5000 and is more of a GPU co-processor. In games, it's about half the power of a GTX980. Definitely not a gaming card. Their cores are assigned to handle high poly counts, with less emphasis on 2D shaders and overlay effects, that games tend to abuse.
I actually love the old kepler quadros, they're cheap as hell used and work great as a basic GPU for browsing. I got five K2000's for $150 back in the fall
So its an underclocked 4 GB GTX 680.... Chip is identical but the Quadro runs at 706 MHz core 1350 MHz memory while the GTX 680 got 1006/1110/1500 MHz base/boost/memory. About 40-50% more clore and 11% more memory clock. After seeing this I wonder how my oc'ed 660 Ti would do in comparison. Raw performance should actually be a bit better, but only 2 GB VRAM might be an issue.

+Like all professional hardware, they are frequently e-wasted, as companies upgrade, meaning if you know the right people, you can often get older Quadros for FREE
-Usually lower clock speeds than GeForce which translates to worse gaming performance (stability and low TDP are the goal)
-Usually more expensive than GeForce when purchasing on the new and second hand market
-Usually stuck with nVidia reference board layout and cooling solution because PNY is pretty much the only board partner for producing Quadros
Honorable mention: due to their intentionally lower clock speed, you can get a Quadro card with a higher tier GPU while still staying within 75W TDP and requiring no external PCIe power cables. Ex: Quadro P2200 is essentially a GTX 1060 with lower clocks but is a single slot card that doesn't need a 6 pin cable. Due to down-clocking, Quadro's might not have the highest performance per DOLLAR but typically have the highest performance per WATT, so if you save one from the dumpster, you have an excellent component.

Regards from Chile! I'll be pleased to see a performance review from an AMD Firepro videocard, some time ago I build a pc for my cousin and I found a V4900 very cheap and I was very impressed with the performance (plays gta v very well)
Well, thats basically a HD 6670
I’ve got a FirePro that arrived today too :)
@@RandomGaminginHD could you add blender and sfm tests for these workstation cards To see how well they work for intended purpose?
Its great runs well in pubg lite and csgo never tried it in valorant
2:16 You should target 900p/768p instead for an optimal framerate.
I agree that 900p would be ideal resolution for a card like that
These types of GPUs, I tend to recommend targeting in that neighborhood as well. I also recommend 720p for those who intend to connect it to a TV.
@@shadowtheimpure I own several 26-32” 720p TVs, which would be perfect for an old gaming PC.

It's a shame these older but not too old Quadros are so expensive (for the silicon inside), would love to play around with some of them in programs that actually use their pro use benefits
Would you ever do live component testing on twitch? I'd definitely throw you a prime subscription
I’ve thought about it but I’m a bit nervous of going live 😂

First time I'm seeing a Nvidia Quadro that actually does good in gaming. That's rare
Because it's based on the GTX 680 with less clock. And the 680 was the highend card from 2012.
It does good in gaming because it's not too old and not based on a lower end model.
@@HappyBeezerStudios Good to know.
Nah 1030 is not that much better and what would make the most sense would be getting an old Kepler card like a 670 or 680, I got my 670 for $50 cad after tax
@@fucker9002 A 770 would be a good option for someone with a $100 budget, even some of the nicer evga 770s can be found for around that price. The 1030, like you said, just isn't worth it unless you need the low power draw for your system, and even then, an AMD apu would likely be better in that situation.
Been using them for years along as well the firepro and gaming they've been just fine aside from the lower clocks compared to the vram starved consumer versions. The driver performance hasn't been an issue for many many years.
So now when gaming gpus are hard to get, we use workstation gpus and mining gpus for gaming
Its a shame the max driver # of the p106s is 417. That will only get worse as time moves on

@@Bajicoy get a computer with 8 gb of ram and a ryzen 5 3400g. good integrated graphics
@@variegatus4674 For a lot of new students or light professionals, it's a pretty economic idea.
8gb is too little for my work, I typically use 12-14gb under full load, plus, ram is not expensive right now, got 16gb for $50, 3400G costs more than a 1700 and M2000 right now at $272 on amazon, probably cheaper if shopped for used, but I like the extra cores at least for rendering.
Still, a 3400G or 4650G might be something I might build in the future whenever prices for those go down, then this m2000 can go into an optiplex or gift to someone
Workstation GPUs mine as well, and even better sometimes because of the higher VRAM
You should run the games at 900p like in 2012
I think this is my favourite channel to watch overall, Literally, all about it is so nice lol
5:47 THIIIISSSSS footage is from a bot match, but the figures were taken from an online match.
Quadros are based around 24/7 workload stability so they're clocked below the gtx card they're based on, they overclock insanely well.
Quadro k4200 is a great card! Dont believe these ppl. I have been a hw tech for 24 years since Dos 5.0 days
I've got the same one too! It does glitch out sometimes. I guess there's a problem with one of the memory module.

Crysis from 1700's lol 😂
Always wanted a Quadro K5000.... Thanks for the video!
My thoughts: not sure if the Quadro is truly using all of its cores, but the CPU is BARELY being used, at 30% typical, where it's been running at 70% with some of your other gfx cards. 🤔
I think a decent Ryzen APU or possibly the new Intel CPUs with iris Xe would work the same or better as this Quadro card, right?
honestly depends which one and what kind of ram is being used in said APU
first gen apus wouldn't stand a chance, as an example (rocking a 2700u on my laptop)
if we make the question black and white, though? As in, "are there ANY APUs or Intel w/ Xe that could beat it?"
the answer is "yes"

You can try emulation with this card. Just saying.
Quadro K4000 is an 80w single slot GPU. So can be used in nearly any PC with a molex to pcie adaptor, and has windows XP driver support
Ah yes the gpu that people thought was better than 1080 ti
The P2000 Quadro is a GTX 1060 with a 160 bit bus and 5gb of GDDR5, and they get nearly 50% higher frames than the K5000. Just sayin'
Hey, I've been seeing a lot of Radeon R9 350 gpu's w/ 4gb of GDDR5 for sale for like $40 usd and free shipping.

Their cores are assigned to handle high poly counts, with less emphasis on 2D shaders and overlay effects, that games tend to abuse.
performs just like any other high end 2012 GPU like a gtx680 that was very cost ineficient at 500 dollars
I actually love the old kepler quadros, they're cheap as hell used and work great as a basic GPU for browsing. I got five K2000's for $150 back in the fall
Workstation and Gaming GPUs and CPUs can do vice versa, but just at lower specs.
Guess 2012 was a decent year for GPUs. Greetings form my newly acquired 660.
Apparently for ps4 it wasn’t
So its an underclocked 4 GB GTX 680....
Chip is identical but the Quadro runs at 706 MHz core 1350 MHz memory while the GTX 680 got 1006/1110/1500 MHz base/boost/memory. About 40-50% more clore and 11% more memory clock.
After seeing this I wonder how my oc'ed 660 Ti would do in comparison. Raw performance should actually be a bit better, but only 2 GB VRAM might be an issue.
1:08 (google translate) The 461.40 driver destroyed with the performance of my old PC.
I tested 3 old GPUs on my PC for my cousin, then to avoid driver conflicts, I formatted the PC and installed the latest GPU driver, when restarting the PC it happened in a short time "blue screen of death", sometimes not even let me type in the Windows password and restart, I spent 3 days testing Memories, HDD, SSD and GPU on another PC, no errors on them, I formatted 2 more times, downloaded the driver again and the problem persisted.
I installed the older driver 460.79, the PC works normally as before.

If you're reading this comment, this particular GPU is still good for Productivity.
Like Adobe Premiere Pro 2021, Blender 2.9, and several other Animation software that relies on GPU.
You know if you can't get good performance from installed hardware there is. Geforce now.
What would be the worst card and CPU you could use?
Seems more based on what internet connection that youhave... But 1080 60fps RTX on and ultra settings... 1hour free or £50 for the year...
A lot cheaper than buying the latest GPU every 3 years...
Probably the best bang for the Buck right now in the Used Market is a GTX 970, GTX 980, GTX 980 TI, GTX 1060, GTX 1070, GTX 1070 TI, a GTX 1080 or Ti if you can get one Maxwell and Pascal has aged better... For AMD RX 570 and 580 and the Vegas. Out of all of these cards the Longevity of the GTX 970 is of Interest. An Interesting Test would be a GTX 950 vs a GTX 750 TI and GTX 1050 TI though for those on a Pennies Budget...
Thanks for doing an old workstation card! Yeah, functional was what I was going for with my M2000 for mostly CAD and a little light gaming. I am wondering for $100 what gpu alternatives there are that you are thinking of? I don't mind putting the M2000 in an optiplex and shopping around for another card if there is something better.
The market is so different right not depending on location but I’ve seen 1050s around this price and older 7000 series AMD cards too

So for you people who dont know any thing about quadros how their names work will suprise most of you. So quadros use a letter at the beginning of their name which marks what architecture family they are apart of. Fx(fermi) k (kepler) m (maxwell) p(pascal) t (turing) a (ampere). Obviously the numbers list performance grade of the card.
I have a question...
Can you install 2 GPUs? Without Crossfire/SLI
Ex. 1 for gaming 1 for production.
Is it possible? Planning to get Quadro but I don't have a 2nd PC.
finally something i actually own. this bad boy came with my t3610! it sits as an ornimant now
My gaming laptop is a frankensteined Dell M4700 upgraded all internals main one being a Quadro M2200 for the better vram and oc capability. I've got it oc'ed to 880ghz on the core and 1550mhz. Plays Far Cry ND modded on 1080p ultra 1.2x resolution at 30fps.
Now compare it to k4200
When u see a K5000, u should be thinking like "ok, its like a GTX 660ti in gaming, but has some extras for professional usage"
I mean its quite obvious, its just a downclocked GTX 680 with 4gb vram and support for quadro drivers
I think only 35% of its capabilities of tha card ... in time for someone to make beter drivers ok !!! and betar bios !!! gfor game .
>uses 2012 workstation GPU
>complains it doesn't work well with heavy 2018-2020 games

At least it works.
Basically just an underclocked GTX 680 4GB. I'd overclock it as much as possible.
Actually I think if you manage to over clock it, it will be better. As quadro is workstation card, and it is not intended for games, clocks are really low. It helped my k2100m on HP ZBook g1 with i7 4800mq and 32gb ram.
Test out the rtx 8000, are they all for work? I never knew all these cards only main gaming line.
I alway play games in 720 on either low or medium settings. Would this piece of cheese be good for that for games like Skyrim LE, SE and AE?
So this is basically the same performance of a 1050 Ti, right? Except I've seen a 1050 Ti from Asus sell new for about 189 euros in 2021!
See if I’m not going to get excellent quality I’ll just play these games on PS4, that’s what sucks about the market now days 3/2021. Hopefully shit gets better
Does he sound kinda sad in his voice this time or is it only me?

You should take a look at the Radeon FirePro S10000. Theres a Seller on eBay that sells them of in bulk from some warehouse or sth like that and has boxes full of them, leading to low prices from 170€ upwards for a dual GPU Workstation card.
could you do a build using a older model xeon and a older high tier gpu (amd r7/9 nvidia 6xx/9xx), i see alot of videos of builds using older xeons but their being paired with 5500s and 1650s, id like to see something done with a gpu you can actually buy
It's literally just the "professional version" of the GTX 680 / 770.
RGHD, what if your designing games and not to bothered about playing them at high res, is a workstation GPU going to render your stuff quick?
Pixel fillrate 22.6 ... Numbers speak for themselves 😂😂😂 if you are a connaiseur of course.
The volume of all your Videos is way to silent. After watching one my ears are exploding each Time on another Video.
What would be a decent but cheap graphics card for an introduction to pc gaming? Less that a £100 kind of cheap, 720p is fine so anything that can handle that is good with me.
I wonder how this bad boy would do overclocked and with new thermal paste. maybe 10-20% improvement?
Workstation cards have traditionally been terrible for gaming as far back as I can remember. Only dual purpose cards, like the Radeon 7 and Titan series really perform well in games.
What does the resolution scaling mean sorry I’m not familiar with that I just know about resolution just not the scaling
I have the k4000... kills me that I am so far unable to use the card on my x230 tablet via egpu express card
That's the performance between gtx 950 and 1050
