When yugioh is great it's the best TCG in the world. When yugioh is bad, you get 9 months of Dark Armed Dragon
I dont know what dread is coming cause I stopped during TeleDAD but im excited to see what awful bullshit is to come.
The next era if I remember correctly, is very problematic because they start to lean on special summoning extremely hard, while also not yet realizing how important once per turn restrictions are. The result is a format of FTKs, OTKs, hand looping, and other no-interaction decks along the same lines.
@@basenatic both Infernity and X-Sabers dominate the format and both can hand loop you.
Later on you get Plant Synchro which can make Shooting Star Dragon and Quasar at the drop of a dime
Gravekeepers are a slower deck but is so stun heavy it is like playing vs Guru today, very little you can actually do vs it.
Then you have Six Samurai which can ftk, otk, hand loop, or make an impossible to out turn 1 board, so yeah not a lot of fun for those who played then, but I certainly love it.
@@larryjohnson6208 And when Xyz comes it will be Wind-Ups, another broken handloop deck, Inzektors, an OTK deck, and arguably the most famous deck in the 2011-2012 era, Dino-Rabbit, which can goes into broken Evolzar Xyzs.
A banlist would drop after this to stop the Quasar Spam decks and all of the handloop nonsenses the likes of Wind-Ups were doing. But then Wind-Ups just shifted into spamming Number 16: Shockmaster first turn and shut down an entire mechanic, practically an FTK by itself. It only took Konami another banlist just to kill Winds-Up and Shockmaster for good.
Then after that was the Water-Fire showdown at the end of 2012 and the start of 2013, when Mermaid and then Fire Fist would come in and shake the meta, but overall Dino Rabbit could still compete with all of them using the stun tools like Macro Cosmos for examples. Overall this format was pretty peaceful. But then, everything change when the Dragon Rulers attacked...
@@larryjohnson6208 dont forget frog ftk next format
Joseph won a game by tributing summoning Gorz and swinging. Mad respect.
I honestly keep forgetting that you can tribute summon him. But remembering niche plays like this make the difference between top tier players and medicore players. This might be the first time I have nothing to criticise about their plays
@@pandaman1331
I can't tell you how many games I won by tribute summoning PSY-Frame Driver for game. (in the old version of my Synchro Gishki deck) Every time it came down my opponents short circuited for a second before they realized what was about to happen lol
It's the same energy as summoning CED just to have a 3k beatstick.
get Gorz'd lol i laughed a lot
It's like when you see someone normal summon Nibiru. It's like a unicorn, impossible, and yet so magical.
Happy anniversary to The History of Yu-Gi-Oh! and what a terrific conclusion to Edison Format! We're glad to see everyone enjoying it as much as we do. Here's hoping to see more Edison content when The History of Jank series gets there!
We will go to Jank Edison soon, hope so.
Oh boy have I got a terrible Gren Maju brew ready for when that happens.
where will you go now?
Need Panda Burn on Edison Jank
I'm glad Edison Format was brought to my attention, and others, I always felt weird thinking "well, modern yugioh isn't my cup of tea, but GOAT isn't really either", Edison however fits almost perfectly into what I want
Same with me tbh. It's notable that my current pet deck, Gishki handloop, ISN'T legal in Edison because it comes out like a year or 2 later. Certainly explains alot regarding the shift in card design, and just how wild that format following Edison was. To jump into edison I'd need to build a totally new deck for Ritual-Synchro. And honestly, looking at Edison vs the format Gishki was released into, that's for the best.
**Edit: Ok. After some more research and information, I think Edison is the best synchro format because in The Shining Darkness and onwards XX-Saber Darksoul exists and it's a pretty dumb card. I think I now may be looking into if there is a good Zexal/XYZ format.
I think Edison looks great and it does fit into a format that I would want to play. I have been doing research into formats after Edison and seeing if there are any worth playing. I think March 2011 (banlist) + Dragunity Legion (Structure Deck) seems worth checking out. This is after Storm of Ragnarok but before the TCG release of Trishula and the Extreme Victory set (which includes Reborn Tengu, Tourguide of the Underworld, and T.G. Striker).
I have yet to try out this format and test it but it seems like a faster "modern" style compared to Edison which can be fun for some (possibly myself). The only thing I'm unsure about is how strong Six Sam is around this time in terms of it being meta dominant or if it's on the same power level as other top decks. September 2010 banlist format looks fun to me also but I just don't know how to feel about Mass Driver existing there (it gets banned in March 2011).
@@RealKingChief six sams make that format unplayable
@@RealKingChief what vexs me is September 2011's banlist is one of my favorites, but then we have to allow Extreme Victory which is less so one of my favorites.
I really enjoy goat until someone pot of greeds into a graceful then uses delinquent and summons bls
The Crow giveth and the Crow taketh away. Blessed be the Crow
The Crow only taketh away your graveyard setup lol
It's only ever done the second one for me.
Amen
For anyone bummed to see Edison format for, I’m here to advocate for the channel Who Needs Meta. They play a lot or historical formats, and have a ton of Edison content. Cannot recommend the channel enough
Good channel.
Ed Edd & Edison is another good channel for Edison format specifically!
Thank you
Thanks !!

"Tribute summon Gorz for game."
These truly were magical times.
Feels like tribute summoning PSY-Frame Driver for game
Tribute Summon Nibiru for game
Psy-frame and Nibiru just doesn’t have that same charm as Gorz for game. It’s just… it hits different
@@chiefsb.3784
It really does. It usually hits for game after all. Popping out without its effect, you can imagine him coming down like "I've had enough, this is over."
The format isn’t bad if you play it cheaply
Holy shit this was a great episode.
Weird to see Cimo piloting dragons instead of slaying them.
Is this a Masterpeace joke? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also a joke about White Magical Hat, also known as, the Dragonslayer, for how many times Cimo used WMH to discard Chaos Emperor Dragon from Gage's hand.
40:00 *Ironically, if MBT didn’t mention “exploder not doing damage” then Cimo would have 100% summoned Exploder and attacked.*
Playground Yugioh, Monarch format:
"Let's do one more game"× 500
That game 1 was most enjoyable game in weeks 😁😄😃😃😃😃
36:58 REDMD still gets banished; "that target" only means it needs to be a valid target at resolution, book does nothing here since Caius can target face down cards.
Contrast Brain Control which specifically says it targets "Face up monsters", so book dodges it.
Your comment is better than mine, you explained it much better!
Exactly, always check for the "face-up" text
had to google to confirm i wasnt playing book of moon wrong for like 5 years
I came here looking for this comment, "that target" doesn't matter if you are just targeting 'a card'.
It seemed like mbt thought this but didn't care at the time haha
Yea thought so, I had to come to the comment section to make sure my friend wasn't bullying me when I first started playing when I owned limited resources to deal with his advantage machine
Let's all be honest here, this is the best Yu-Gi-Oh content on RUclips. Thank you, Mr. Cimoooooooo and Mr. Rothschild for making such a great series.
If it wasnt for the heavy and repetetive misplays, I would have agreed ...
@@otangakudyokeman7124 oh God. You must be fun at parties 🙄
@@BlackHazama I am, if cimo isnt invited XD
This showed MBTs practice with the deck payed off
28:09 actually cimoo takes battle damage since the explosive dragon effect to negate battle damage only affects when it declares the attack and not when it is attacked, it is a more than common mistake that even I have made.
does not alter the result but it is good to point out when a mistake is made from time to time.
EVEN SEBASTIAN FER MADE THIS MISTAKE??/? Jk good looking out
"Attacks involving this card" does not include when it is attacked?
@@StrongJoshua it the last part of his effect say "neither player takes any battle damage (including direct attacks) from attacks involving this attackinf card" so he have to attack for this effect to be active and not the other way around.
Yeah a very rare effect in the last part, like can't you just make it inmune to damge for both ocaccions.
@@sebastianfer1566 I guess my question is "Attacks involving this card" does not mean attacks made by opponents? Idk, it's such a weirdly phrased effect.
@@StrongJoshua Normally it would be like that but here they specify that only when this card attacks, complicating an effect that is not really that complicated is quite common in the konami of the past, thank goodness that now all the effects are perfectly understood (right?) ..... ....... KONAMII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I loved speech at the end, it was beautiful. I think that's true of any card game, and thank you MBT and Cimooo for the History of yugioh, and I am excited to see what the future holds.
“I don’t know why it did that” *clicks two whole buttons above set*
Not noticing he clicked the wrong button. Is this the level of bitching we’re at now?
Spoken like a man who never used dueling book. The UI is really laggy and weird so while the recording got it right Alex very likely didn’t actually have control there
I'm gonna be so sad to see Edison format go from the history of Yu-Gi-Oh! but I'm so happy to have discovered a format like this thanks to you guys.
Happy 1 year Anniversary!
The score is now
Cimo: 27
MBT 26
Slightly closer than progression is 😅
@@Diarmuid4 YEP Slightly
To be fair they both have access to all decks. Plus this series tends to be 2 decks that competed at the same time and against each other. So mostly equal level decks. Progression, you're hoping to pull good cards to build decks. That's why you can't compare them, at least not in ways that say "omg MBT is much better than Gage because he's closer to wins than Gage was to Cimo." That's just not how it works.
@@reanbright2435 oh I agree it was just meant to be a funny comment
In Game 1, Starlight Road would've been destroyed by Ladd's self-nuke effect right?
Love Disaster Dragon. One of my favorite decks of all time!
It has to have a monster available in the grave for targeting to activate that effect.
@@Psynapseful it doesn't, that's why it says "also" and "(if possible)" and "(if any)"
It's ambiguous enough that I don't blame them for missing it, but based on my reading of things and some past OCG rulings, it looks like the "Destroy all of your cards" should still trigger even if you don't have anything to target in the graveyard. The kicker being that since his only card on the field was Starlight Road, he wouldn't even be able to chain it to that destruction effect.
@@charlesf.7947 I didn't realize that's how the text worked, my erroneous reading was that the targeting is a mandatory effect after destruction, as well as a cost for the following effects. Thanks for the clarification.
Modern versions of the text (thats not an errata) define that the destruction happens even when there are no monsters in gy.
Here are today’s illegal actions:
17:44 Light and Darkness Dragon’s effect when it is destroyed is mandatory, and also, if you have any valid targets in your GY, you also choose of those and special summon it. This means that even if you don’t have a valid target in your GY, you must still nuke your board because the other part of the effect says (if any). And so, Cimo’s Starlight Road should have still been destroyed despite not having a target in his GY.
28:14 Exploder Dragon does make Cimo take 1400 in this case. Its effect specifically says “from this attacking card.” And so if Exploder Dragon is attacked, there will be damage involved.
37:09 Book of Moon does not work that way despite what Cimo said. Honestly, I’m not sure where this whole “that target” vs “it” differentiating came from when it comes to valid properties of card effects that target card(s). The misinformation and confusion happened a lot in MBT’s Progression Playoffs and other Yugitubers’ series as well, and it’s hard to know how these false beliefs about this started and spread. All you have to know is if the property of a card is no longer what it was when it was targeted, then the effect will fizzle out. For example, if you use Brain Control on a target, the opponent can chain Book of Moon on that monster which will cause Brain Control to fizzle because it needs a “face-up” target. An effect like Caius, Raigeki Break, Dark Armed Dragon, etc. will target “a card”. When the target is flipped face-down to due to Book of Moon, the target is still “a card” and so those effects will work. I hope this clarifies this 👍🏻
Book works against many things but not others, and rather than actually learn why it does people just assume. It's been a long time since book was a super meta relevant card so people arent practiced.
@@gregoryford2532 oh good point! I’ll edit my comment and mention that
A few edge cases in things like EDOpro that are incorrectly programmed (in the past and present) also probably applies. Dinomiscus requires a face up target, but flipping the target face down in there still causes it to be banished. If spells are treated differently than traps in this regard I do not know, or if there is a ruling that gave Dinomiscus an exception that isn't shared among similar cards.
Which considering Yugioh rulings is entirely possible. When vs If is the dumbest distinction I've ever seen, and the fact it survived PSCT implementation is a crime.
@@AC-kw7xx
We want to know where they did wrong so that
A: We don't make the same mistakes in our games.
B: For them to learn for next time, because they DO read the comments.
C: Cause it is valuable to see where card text is difficult to figure out for future game designers, so they make their game better.
This is as worthy to take seriously as anything else. Would you as well say that a child's game like Baseball, played by adults professionally, is fun to watch but we shouldn't hold accountable and record the mistakes that occur?
Cimo’s deck brings back so many memories. My last deck before my break through XYZs and Pendulums was a dragon deck similar to his except it had the Blue Eyes engine using Ultimate (I didn’t have 5 Head) and used Red Eyes for Blue Eyes beat down.
Edit: 4 games?! What a treat!!!
If you like Blue-Eyes decks then you should check out the Dragon Turbo deck on the Edison format server
@@pandaman1331 will do! Over ten years ago I always wanted to make Blue eyes work and when REDMD came out I knew that was it’s chance, that was all of my money haha
@BSWolf777 you should send the list to Joseph to see if it makes it into the history of jank. I have never seen a Horus deck take a game!
Happy anniversary guys this series has been a lot of fun and I can’t thank you enough for all the hard work to bring us these amazing videos
1:28
Ah yes, Rank 5 Synchro Monsters, my favorite.
I just love overlaying my synchro materials and slapping a white card on the top.
Wait...
This comment made me double take cause this is functionally what Synchro summoning is gonna be in the card game I'm making. You take your Tuner and whatever other card, and overlay them into the synchro. Except the materials stats become the summoned monster.
I've been scribbling and refining the idea all month and this joke gave me whiplash XD
It is bitter sweet. This has become my favorite format by far. While the series does need to progress leaving this format behnd is sad.
Maybe set up a show on Thursday inviting some of smaller streamers to play different formats. There are many small channels devoted to the old yugioh formats which you can help grow while showcasing these great decks.
For me this was the best format of all time. I loved so much. Yu-Gi-Oh! nowadays can't be so fun like this. Oh, sometimes I just want a reset in the game and start all over again, this time without the mistakes and broken cards they made it before.
So you want Duel Links, lol
@@four-en-tee no because duel links is limited to 3 cards and have that shit habilities. Also now they have pendulums...the game evolved to fast in my opinion
Watching these two win games with normal summoned gorz and attacking with totem dragon was so much fun. Well done Cimo and MBT. best series from any yugitubers
What a banger of an episode, nice way to end off the Edison format.
That game one was beautiful
I cant wait till whatever the 2016 format is called, I want to see any of you guys play PK fire, my favorite deck of all time
i think it existed through 4 ish formats, Dracopal, PK Fire, Monarchs, Blue Eyes, ABC, Metalfoe, D/D/D,
Metalfoes were the most successful deck from release during the Blue Eyes format till D/D/D released , PK Fire was most successful between the april list that hit Dracopal & Monarchs being optimized for nationals/the deck being hit in august, it won it's last event during ABC format just before Toadally Aweome & the fusion metafoes released
History of Yu-Gi-Oh! episode wins
Cimoooooooo: 27
MBT: 26
Has it already been one year since this series began? It doesn't feel like it's been that long. Happy anniversary in that case. A whole year of Yu-Gi-Oh! shenanigans (my favorite being Cimo's Millennium Eye calling Monster Reborn, Megamorph, Normal Summon OTK moment). I can't wait to see what comes next as we say goodbye to Edison Format.
1:26 Rank 5 synchro plays! Damn, didn't know synchros have ranks back then.
It was so much fun watching you guys play this format! I never knew this format had a ton of the decks from back when I used to play. This is probably THE retro format to go for!
It seems to be the case but I would hold my horses. We still have to wait and see what the third incredibly popular retro format has to offer in modern times. That being H.A.T format
So for Thursday, you should make a series called the OCG experience where you either play the history of theOCG or you pick fun times of the OCG and play those decks against each other.
Idt we have any clue as to how or what the ocg was. It's so hard digging up old articles on past tcg formats let alone doing this on Asian sites with bad translations and most ocg game coverage is like locals and what not
@@larryjohnson6208 It was very hard and took me a long time but I've found a webiste which comprehensively covered all OCG meta decks and events starting from 2008. But everything before 2008 is indeed almost impossible to find. I would alternatively like to see a history of yu-gi-oh highlander style series
Oh yeah, let's Graceful Charity to trigger the effects of Sangan, Witch of the Black Forest, and Last Will!!
Comment was truly ahead of its time
Dammit Joseph, your hype is making me want to play this game for the first time since GX.
Unrelated to the episode, Edison was absolutely sick and it really didn't feel like a month in it. It was super cool to watch, felt really diverse in comparison to older formats, and I'm sad to see it go. Definitely taking notes based on Edison format.
This is definitely the best History episode in a long time. Everything about it was just perfect
This was so fun! Best episode yet 🙂 i really think you guys should consider ditching the wheel and just pick the decks you are excited about! Those are the best episodes
Let's just call it a draw and both of u go to the next format with nice shirts😂
Here here!
Genuinely, this is one of my favorite episodes in The History of Yu-Gi-Oh!
What a sendoff! Not often you get to see a game 4. Would love to see more of this tbh
Check out who needs meta on yt. They do a lot of older format stuff like edison
@@larryjohnson6208 pog, I'll need to check them out. Thanks
Hot damn two best of 3's in one episode? Awesome stuff, I may actually get into this format, I joined the game right after it ended when the meta was transitioning from Sabers to Tengu Plants, sad I missed out on all the sick decks from this era
Seeing the card sleeves was interesting. "Diva! Diva? Oh, diva."
Its just man-eater bug with a nice bussy.
I found your channel and binged the progression series up until the pendulum era (I just can't keep up with that). Then I started this series and didn't realize I was already a years worth of episodes in until you mentioned it at the end. I never played yugioh correct, just played at friends houses with the interpretation of the rulebook from the mind of a few 8 year olds, so these videos have been really enjoyable and eye opening. I really appreciate it.
Small mistake at 28:09 : Exploder Dragon prevents its controller from taking battle damage only when it is attacking! It doesn't change the outcome but it's still interesting to point out that this guy is basically just Exiled Force But With More Steps.
Even if you use Book on your monster in response to Caius's effect, it will still get banished.
However if your opponent uses a card like Enemy Controller, Book will protect because Econ says to target a face up monster as a cost, and the monster will no longer be face up at resolution.
An easy way to see what works and what doesn't is to check if the card says "it" or "that target" at resolution. Econ says "that target" which is why Book will protect.
Caius also says "that target"
@@luka3796 That's true, but it doesn't matter because Caius says to target 1 card on the field, not 1 face up card on the field.
The last two sentences betray the point and is an overly broad rule. Their problem is that they dont understand what "that target" means at resolution. Literally deleting the last two sentences makes the post more accurate.
@@Adderflail You might be right, I wrote this comment at like 5am so I may not have worded it in the best possible way.
Exactly and even though Caius says "that target" it didn't matter because "that target" can be any card on the field face-up or face-down, so I believe Cimo had the right idea with it losing its target potentially but only if he had something like compulsory instead
I stopped playing around the time the Labyrinth of Nightmare packs came out and these videos are like a "Look what happened while you were gone" and i like it.
Sick format, I love this series but this was still definitely my favorite section of it thus far!
AAAAAAAHHHHH. Seeing cimo play my old deck from back in high school was a treat.
I miss those cards.
19:13 "I have no idea why it did that" he says right after he clicked the button that does exactly that XD
this is probably my favorite episode of all the series going on
Happy Anniversary of History of Yu-Gi-Oh! guys and what a fucking ride it has been both entertaining and informative! and I look forward to what comes next
This was so good, watching both of my favourite decks of the format go against each other (Diva hero is probably fav deck of all time).
Very interesting games; I had always thought that Chaos Dragons was the first time when a truly competitive Dragon strategy had come into being, so it was refreshing to see a predecessor in action. More generally, this format has been an absolute blast to watch!
I'm very surprised that Cimo didn't play Trident Dragon for the memes and content
He might have sided it in but it was only one copy so it might just not have come up
I'm so glad to finally see a proper dragon deck show up lol - Not something that's based on CED, DAD or is just a dragon in a non-dragon deck, like Lightsworn, but just a normal Dragon deck.
They're the main cards I play, and it's just so nice to see them finally getting proper representation somewhere in one of these series.
Disaster Dragon is probably the first good dragon deck, first showed off by Richard Clarke later on, shout aht to him, but ppl playing Edison realized this deck is very powerful and playable in and around Edison, and so it became one of those ret-conned format staple decks like Diva HERO and Volcanic QDDW. The only other "mostly dragons" decks to ever do well competitively were the Konami-made archetypal ones like Dragunity, Dragon Ruler, and Rokkets/Guardragon.
Whoops, I managed to binge this series in a few weeks, now have to wait weekly
Cimo, you know you can normal a dragon, then banish it for the Red Eyes Darkness Metal right? Right??!?! Cause I don't think you know that.
Edit, ok he FINALLY did it in game 4. But then HE DIDN'T REALIZE HE COULD JUST BRING KOA'KI BACK WITH THE DARKNESS METAL EACH TURN TO BASICALLY KILL HIM FASTER! LIKE COME ON! You didn't need the dragon in hand. Sure the dragon dies at the end, but when you already had the 2800 beat stick, the plus 1900 would of just ended him in two turns.
this is a great mix of older slower resource management yugioh, and newer fast combo yugioh. it can be decided in 2 or 10 turns!
I used to play a deck like mbts in this era but with a small zombie engine I believe two goblins a mezuki (maybe it was at two idr) plague zombie master and burial it was SO sick
Then The Shining Darkness came and Yu-Gi-Oh plunged to its darkest depths once more with another playable FTK.
a year already ?! 🤯 guys, thank you so much for this series, it is just legendary... it encapsulates and archives the past of our beloved game to all us to perpetuate the fun of it forever !! 😍
This is also the time I left the game. God it's so nostalgic, end of HS beginning of College days... Would love to see weird Edison decks like Norleras Future Fusion Monster Mash, Chain Burn decks, etc... maybe part of history of jank? Anyway this was just... great. Thanks guys keep it up!
Probably in Jank so I can't wait to see them as well.
Chain Burn does get some premier tops around this time tho, so we may see it in HoY aside from HoJ.
Gotta say you lucked out leaving right after Edison cuz the next 2-3 formats are God awful until they finally hit all the degen stuff to 1 in 2011 and we have another fantastic format like Edison at the end of the Synchro Era which is around the time I began getting competitive in ygo.
Oh I’d like to see that format as well! These, like MBT, make me want to build those specific format decks and just play again with my buds who used to play at the time.
Easily the best episode of the Edison episodes. Every game was a joy to watch!
Go cimoo hes our winning dullest if can't beat you nobody can,
Just say that we are enjoying the game as a fan,
We tolley on cimmooo winning streak and smile when you win,
Even though your opponent might think it's a sin,
Got alot of games left,
Hopefully cimmooo deck will stand the test,
This challenge might go serious history,
Best thing ever invented but who will win overall nobody it's a mystery,
I hope cimmooo wins as hes my favourite yugioh RUclipsr and duelest,
This history of yugioh series is good and is top my RUclips viewing list,
I'm new the game and this series is great,
I learn so much and even though all fun both players even though nothing much at steak,
I think this one of the best yugioh series to teach yugioh players old and new,
I hope Cimooo like my poem as this my way showing support to you,
I always look forward to seeing next episode,
Hopefully you'll win the metaphorical trophy at end of the series,
You seem win by sure just sure luck and game strategy, good deck building even though your opponent might different theories,
Best of luck to both duelest and all fun at the end of the day,
Fun watching you both all this I have left to say.
Never thought id come on to youtube and see Cimoooo play disaster dragon!😍
End of an era, will definitely miss it
Loved seeing these Edison games!! I love to play tag force 4 and 5 which is pretty close to this format. Those games are so fun. I love how u have a wealth of good decks to choose from and they are all competitive! Especially how the decks play is fun to watch too. Love this series guys; keep it up!!
That is indeed not how book of moon works in that situation. That only works if the target is no longer a legal target for the effect. You can test it in the ygopro or omega if you'd like confirmation.
Gotta love, that scream of no after getting crowed
I don’t think Book of Moon would work like that, but Book is definitely a tricky card.
Speaking of tricky book rulings, I think if I were cimo at 35:58 I would’ve attacked with REDMD into snowman and then booked the REDMD so that snowman has to destroy itself. Not sure book works like this but it would be nice if it did.
You can't use Book during the Damage Step.
can't book there since flip effects activate in damage step
Definitely pleased to see (Disaster) Dragon get some representation here. I played that deck from 2010-2012 and have alot of fond memories. This format is where it's seeing alot of play in the modern sense but it's actually able to stick around for a bit longer for about the next year's worth of play because of the Dragon support released during the later half of 5Ds. Specifically Dread Dragon (TSHD), Vice Dragon (Gold 3), Delta Flyer and Scrap Dragon (Both DREV). Plus it can play Pot of Duality alongside Upstart and Gold Sarc to improve your chances of seeing Future Fusion. What fun.
Oh man, looking forward to the future history now. This is exactly where I stopped playing so I'm curious about how the game changed since.
Always a treat to see a game with my favorite card Dr. RED MD, even if it only got to come out in the last bonus game.
Edison has been such a fun blast from the past. It reminds me so much of a tuned up version the casual games I’d play with my friends back in high school. I think the competitive scene was in the murky depths Wind Up/Dinorabbit but we had a great time chilling with Dragons, Gadgets and synchro combos. I may have to share this format with my friends from around them to see if I can catch some interest!
I have never seen those guys so happy while playing... four games?? thats the spirit for such a nice format like that!
Great games! I personally like this format even more than goat. Regarding book of mooning your own Red Eyes to protect it from Caius in game 2 of the second match, I’m almost completely certain that Caius’s effect would still banish your monster. Caius can target face down cards and the target hasn’t actually changed, it’s just changed positions prior to the effect taking place. Not that it ended up mattering either way lol.
It's only fitting to have a really good match, from one of the best formats ever, just before one of the absolute worst formats and nobody has fun.
Happy anniversary, guys.
These types of back & forth is what's missing in the modern era. The grind game aspect of Edison really makes you think long term along making the use of the few resources you have.
Its been a year?! God i started watching around ep.8 ish so that is crazy to think about. Never really knew Cimoo before hand and glad this series exists so I can watch him and MBT Duke it out week after week.
As a dragon enthusiast who brewed her own Darkness Metal deck in Over the Nexus, I'm really glad to see this matchup! I'm also excited to see how much more attention Edison is getting from the community now, thanks to this series
1 Year of History of Yu-gi-oh. Wow. That time flew by. It's been great having this series as a weekly fixture over the last 12 months.
I don't think I've ever seen Gorz normal summoned before HOLY MOLY
I played a variant of these that used Fortune Ladies. Was fun as heck.
28:14 MBT reminding Cimo to take no damage was a nice moment.
Like Cimo letting his opponent lose 3600 LP for no reason in the other series but like, the opposite.
Incorrectly mind you.
Exploder Dragon takes damage when it is attacked. You only don't take damage when it is the attacking creature
7:29 It's neither player takes any battle damage from attacks involving this ATTACKING card. It's important to remember that.
I know that card from early Duel Links.

HOW DO I UNSEE THIS
Man Edison really brought back some memories for me.
Normal gorz for game is the peak yugioh gameplay that got me to love this game.
Now for frog ftk to make an appearance, yay.
Man, this takes me back, I played dragons during Edison Format. LADD was my fucking BOY!
Non patrons: early!
Patrons: *I am above time itself*
That bluff against cimo with the tree born gorz
I love Disaster Dragons! It was the one deck I could actually assemble back during high school and I played it to pretty great success at locals. The Light and Darkness Dragon loop with REDMD cemented it as one of my favorites.
I love Joseph's sleeves goated af
Was watching til I seen Cimo not send the 5 Dragons off of FF upon activation. It's crazy how many people don't know how Edison works. Lol.
can't wait for the format that gave a sneak peak of artifacts
Funny thing about future fusion into FiveHeaded is that its a combo that was actually used in the anime lol.
BASED
REDMD was an absolute staple of my playground Yugioh. Everyone was playing dragons. I had a ghost rare stardust that got stolen and returned in bad condition. There was so much fun to be had in this format.
Alex and Royal Oppression. Name a more iconic duo.
