Look at most teenagers who make “not smart” decisions and then grow up and still make bad choices. Dude you can’t beat the realism. I didn’t even like the whole wannabe Billie angle, but girls and boys idolize stars at that age. I give it a pass due to everyday people act like them.
Well, people seem to be awfully dumb these days. But really, you can't be stupid and make it through the RE series without following a step-by-step walkthrough, which the production team probably did, assuming they played it at all, which I don't think they did seeing how much they got wrong.
I am awfully curious though… wasn’t our protagonist suppose to be “one of the smartest people on the remainder of the planet”? Lol… it’s like assuming Stephen Hawkins to not know what 1+1 = 2
The most egregious piece of ridiculousness is the fact that Billie shot her, stood over her after disarming her, and then the next shot we get is her getting up by herself with no sign of Billie anywhere… so disappointed with this series.

I just finished watching the first season last night. An example of something I really hate in storytelling - In her arrogance, Jade brings a zombie on board The University. Of course the thing gets loose and winds up killing her pregnant lab partner (best friend?.) We will never hear about this again. She should carry the guilt and shame of that mistake for a long time. It could easily be a major factor in her future development. But nope; it will be like it never happened.
Did anyone notice we never actually saw the outbreak that leads to the apocalypse. All that back and forth never saw the zombies even start taking over the world.

It sucks that we're living in an age where critics give points for things being shot in a competent way or having actors who don't suck. TV has been around for almost a hundred years...both of those things should be as standard now.

I'm not a person who likes to connect things to conspiracy theories, and I don't like shouting "politics!" every time someone disagrees with me, but the only way I can fathom people giving this show a high score is that Netflix paid them or they agree with any political positions that the series may have.

I lost it when Jade brings the zombie onto the boat and just ties it to a rack. Lol. She's like the worst mom ever. Also they just have the t virus lying around in the lab on the boat. Yeah those face shields from CVS are totally fine protection.
That and she apparently used frayed and damaged (within eye level view) straps to secure it. Nothing on the feet, or securing the torso. Completely retarded.

@@KSmithwick1989 It is bad writing. Good writing would intertwine it into the story and her character. The odd line doesn't excuse what is otherwise bad writing as it clearly isn't what her character was designed around.
There are instances where she doesn't make bad decisions and she isn't a psycho. What is or isnt the case regarding her character just changes when it's convenient. A moronic, psycho, narcisistic character works when it's more relevant to their character than for it to act as a plot device.

@@dreadsire5086 i don't know the taste of the newer generation, but I feel even they wouldn't like it. From one review I saw it seems more for the old people that aren't in anyway familiar with the RE franchise.
Don't remember the article but it was about how RE live action was being almost universally disliked. They showed 3 reviews 2 which gave it under a 5 out of 10. 1 which gave it an 8 out of 10 stating a great zombie show that picks up the itch left from the absence of the walking dead ( not those words, but something along those lines).
I never found myself physically putting my face in my hands and saying “WHY?” So many times watching this show

Yeah, Wesker was the only good thing about this show. That actor fits the role perfectly and holy fuck was he badass. Well, I think mostly because the actor is so good he could pull off the terrible production and writing. The rest, the entire bloody thing was a dumpster fire. I was just telling my girlfriend I want Lance as Wesker in another, well done Resident Evil production.

Noticed so many issues after watching including zombies can barrel over guards and eat there face but ignore jade as she cuts through them with a trash can lid. Also when they go under the temperature gauge when being guided the first time they get low to the ground but the second time they just jump over the couch with no concern and barely go under it again .
not only does jade know before the party, but billie knows as well. She literally ASKS jade how much time is left on the timer and decides if shes gonna die she wants to go to a party. There is a scene before the party scene where billie demands jade tell her what's going on in regards to her sickness. So they both knew she might rampage. One of many totally stupid decisions made by every person in this show.
This show made me appreciate the garbage that are the Paul Anderson Resident Evil films. They are actually good in comparison to this show.
Edit: To everyone losing their marbles: It’s all complete garbage but in my humble opinion the movies are now more watch-able garbage that this show. That is my point. I’m not giving the films a pass either THEY ARE STILL GARBAGE.

How the writers thought that 2 teenage girls breaking into an umbrella facility using a phone and a flashlight is completely okay and feasible is beyond me.

I’ve been watching “The Strain”, the Guillermo del Toro vampire show from like 8 years ago. I only saw like maybe the first season of it at the time, so I’ve been going back to watch the whole thing. It’s a much better Resident Evil series than this or any of the movies. I know it has nothing to do with Resident Evil, but it feels like what a Resident Evil series should be. It’s got an evil corporation causing a monster-based apocalypse in a city, a small band of survivors that know the truth who are trying to stop it, appropriately escalating stakes as the city gets more and more overrun. It’s pretty much the blueprint for Resident Evil. Change the corporation to Umbrella, the vampires to zombies, and New York to Raccoon and there’s your show.
I adore the strain! So scary. Definitely has moments like twd where you are very on edge for the characters and maybe a little scarred lol…Definitely way way better than this weird poop of a show…

It’s been cancelled, so much for 15 seasons.
I feel like this show was not originally made to be Resident Evil but the writer kept getting rejected. But since Netflix read "Zombies" in the script and had the License for Resident Evil, they thought "Well let's just slap the name on it and rename some characters and people will love it!!" Not understanding that it's what sealed it's fate. Thank God it was cancelled.
Keep in mind that this show's showrunner didn't create Supernatural. He was brought in as a writer to Supernatural in the 4th season, I think, and he didn't become showrunner until season 11.

this feels like a entirely different series but they didn't want to take the chance with a new IP so they slapped the RE name on it for the recognition dude we deserve a GOOD adaptation of the RE franchise to the movies and TV series it deserves it but if this was by itself stand alone it could have been fine but with RE hell HELL NO

I stopped trusting IGN a long time ago. Ign gets payed extra or are given free stuff to give it a fake review. Look what happened with Cyberbug 2076 ign gave it a high score and they knew how buggy it was after having that game for a month on both PC and console. And all the lies they told about the Avengers games saying how it was a dream come true. And the review score for RE2 remake how the reviewer didn't even play the second part of the story. There's even more shady story's but it's way to long to even list here.

I tried hard to watch this since I grew up on RE from the PS one days. This had to be one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. Poor story, poor characters, poor execution. I smoked soooo much weed to try to watch this because of the love I have for RE, but good lord. STOP RUINING MY CHILDHOOD!!! Transformers, TMNT, HeMan, ETC. Just stop
The recent film almost has it all in place but the poor attempt to squeeze 2 games in 1 movie and the change in characters and dialogue for the characters killed it but we were so close !

So I looked at a good amount of the Rotten Tomatos audience reviews and I didn't see anything about the wesker being race swapped. Most people agree that lance is the best part of the show. However, one good actor can't save a dumpster fire.

Nobody is going to mention how the drones seem to have unlimited ammo? The amount of shooting they do would require much more physical space on the drone to contain all of the bullets.

The drones don't have to carry ammo. There is an onboard device that extracts ambient humidity and turns it into high velocity projectiles, obviously. I mean this explanation makes as much sense as a lot of the other things we've seen in the show.

100% wanted to see an ammo hopper on those drones. Also they don't seem to suffer from recoil? Wanted to see the drones recoil when they opened fire but nope, no attention to detail in the animation.

I really admire you guys for having the strength to watch this. Can't wait to see Lady D depicted as a cross-dressing asian man that is actually a good guy, Chris Redfield as a pacifist who hates guns, Jill Valentine with ptsd and a fixation on Leon/Carlos(they are the same character now) because the writers forgot it was actually Claire who met him in Racoon City and Ada Wong being a hulking indian man with a great beard and nerdy jokes. That would totally rock!
To be fair that sounds more interesting than the actual show
I think Ada is one character they might actually keep somewhat faithful to because she's already a woman and Chinese. Be a different story if she was a white guy.

Alex should decide the final ratings IMO. His rationalization and breakdown of why things don't work are more well thought out and less influenced by any sort of bias. Great reviewer.
100% agree. Love the rest of the crew too and they make good points, but Alex really does do a great job at breaking down what he's watching without bias.
I think they should do a true average between the 3 of them, I do like Alex reviews the best though.
I've never understood why he just sits there, biting his lip practically just trying to deal with the cringe, instead of growing some balls and making his own show... he'd take have the crowd with him.
The show made it impossible to make you care. This is why i hate it when shows switch between timelines. It ruins the pace to begin with but when the show is so subpar it becomes a chore to watch. Like every time the show tried to do something interesting it would switch to the other timeline and when you did not care to begin with it kinda blew every chance. And that is like one of the minor problems lol.

I’m not a fan of resident evil and decided to watch it, and god damn is it bad. They halo’d your franchise
He won't get enough seasons to do much of anything. With Netflix cleaning house, there's just no way they keep this on any longer than they have to.
I'm going to give you the best advise anyone has ever given you , folks. Ready for this. Firstly, sell or throw away all your resident evil Dvds, all shows movies everything. Then, ignore all other resident evil shows and movies that exist. Now that you've done that, play all the games in chronological order. Now you've expereinced the best resident evil story, and you don't need to look anywhere else.
If you want to experience 16 seasons of resident evil… just enjoy the games.
Thats what i told my wife. She hasn’t played the games and doesn’t know what to go off. I’m informing her as we go. At the end of the series, she said she didn’t like how they did the story. I told her if she wants to experience RE the way it should be, then play the games. Just focus on 1-3, i think they’re the best of the series story wise.

Yep, even the games that are considered bad like 5 and 6 are fantastic action co op games with fun stories especially 5 for some real wesker!! A bunch of the less known games should be played, like Outbreak file 2 is an extremely good game!

@@MRKIKE44 Yeah, I forgot to mention Code Veronica. I loved that game, even if it was hard. It was the last game to feel like classic RE. RE4 was fun, but I didn't like the story.
Another note about the "OG Wesker" scene... The Umbrella soldiers don't look like half baked stormtroopers, they actually look menacing with their gas masks and basic helmets. I have no idea why they felt the need to make them look so goofy.
Considering that OG look, despite the basic components of the helmet and mask, made an antagonist who is quite well known in the fandom himself in Hunk, overdesigned characters doesn't make better characters.
Different umbrella 1998 was owned by Spencer 2022 its owned my Marcus's Daughter ? She mentions how Umbrella was stolen from her Dad this is a throwback to Resident evil O . As for their design in 2036 yea i guess since Billy is the puppet master there change of shit
@@kazua3000 Right but the design of the uniforms wasn't invented by the characters, it was the show runners. So they had to design those costumes look at them, evaluate them and pass them. I know why the uniforms changed.
I'm saying they look awful and the people in charge of creating them should be ashamed because they made them look like pre alpha stormtroopers.
I only watched one episode and that's probably going to be it for me. You guys said that main character girl gets everyone killed and it reminds me of that woman from Fear the Walking dead and how I hated her for the exact same reason.

About the Wesker Clones he states something in the beginning about the Mind Transfer device is having glitches so seems like it's Wesker's mind inside his body and then made the clones from the current body he's inside.

The whole reason Umbrella collapsed and several new Umbrellas popped up was cause the Raccoon City outbreak became public knowledge.
Anytime a survivor goes somewhere and an incident happens them being a Raccoon City survivor is usually enough for everyone else to make them their leader to get them through that situation.

The scene with the spit kind of irked me because I called it as soon as they said it thrives in saliva. Why waste your precious lab solutions, which likely are very hard to come by in a post-apocalypse on a ship out in BFE nowhere?? Why not just spit in it the petri dish as a first test? Fabricated drama in that entire scene.
I agree with u guys all the way...the croc at the end...when it didn't eat the little girl...proves this is just abusing resident evil.
They went through so many lab supplies for those tests and then at the very last second had a lightbulb moment and considered using saliva for an enzyme found at least partly in saliva...the amount of bad writing just climbs higher and higher. It's sad to watch 😕
I'm with Other Joe! I loved Supernatural and had great characters especially Dean and Castiel! The first 5 seasons are absolute classics! After that they had some Hit and miss Seasons and then had that Awful Series finale! Truly one of the worst finales I have seen! But I do love the Show and love the cast! This new Resident Evil Series It was just not good and found it boring at times and hated the characters except for Wesker!

The flashbacks really were a problem to me. Maybe they were trying to pull a LOST TV show type of flashback style but it got stretched out for miles. Like focus on the main story, show us why we should care about current characters. Is a 2 out of 10 for me.

I loved seeing Lance Riddick in action! You could tell he was having great time with the character. I'm glad that they didn't take themselves too seriously. It's a guilty pleasure.
It is really sad Resident Evil never gets a good live action makeover. It really isn't a hard formula to port. Yet you get these titles that only ever have the name in common.

Did the same thing last night. I couldn’t finish the wheel of time series because Amazon butchered it so badly, but Netflix took the cake on that front so firmly I couldn’t help but finish it.

My favorite thing from the series is when they're at the crossing place and Umbrella shows up and blasts everyone and the chubby guy with the beard is like "hey those are rubber bullets, right ?" and the Umbrella soldier just shrugs. I loved that scene. Which reminds me of the following scene where these refugees didn't know it was Umbrella that was shooting at them... Even though they announced who they were over the loud speakers lol
The writer wanting to grab all the established characters sounds like he wants to run this train on member berries, like Picard bringing back Q, then promising the original cast. “Please stay, we have more things you used to like!”

had a really hard time enjoying this show. Mostly because the main character is completely unlikable. She is extremely selfish, self centered, self righteous, thinks she is smarter than everyone else when in actuality she is the one that always messes everything up, i just couldn't find a single thing about her that i could relate to. I did think wesker was amazing and portrayed the different clones admirably, the woman who is originally in charge of umbrella was ok too, like the performance later when she is a puppet. I didn't even mind the other sister that much.. just that main character thou, its a horrible character.
