India is already the 5th largest economy in the world and very soon it’s going to be the 3rd largest! I am very proud of my country and its achievements, given its size, topography and so much diversity!
Vijayanagara (Hampi) was the Imperial Capital of the Vijayanagara Empire from the 14th to 16th centuries. It was the largest and wealthiest city on Earth with a population of somewhere between 500,000 to 1 million depending on what you define the city limits to be. The Vijayanagara Metropolitan Area was 650km^2 with the city proper being of an area of 120km^2 (several times larger than cities like Rome, Baghdad, Beijing)
There was a brutal battle happened in 1565 called " battle of tallikota" or "Raksha thangadi " . In that battle 5 muslim rulers of neighbor kingdoms of The Great vijayanagara empire destroyed this beautiful city and countless temples & architectures out of their religious zeal. Whenever I watch anything related to hampi i feal proud and sad at the same time . Anyway Kannadigas can describe more precisely about hampi . Thanks for this beautiful vlog 🙏 💛❤️

There is a saying in Karnataka - If you not got tanned enough, you have not seen Hampi enough😂. That awkward moment where a man tried to pick your kid😂, it's very cultural thing. It's very common for people try to touch and pick cute looking babies. There is no bad intention at all. Personal space and boundaries are bit new concepts to Indians. Actually as Indians have become more westernised, this practice is slowing dying down.
I know this man was well-intentioned and did not believe Hays to be in harm. But, we're teaching Hays that saying no to unwanted physical touch is perfectly acceptable (consent!), even if the intentions are good, and he asked him to stop, as did Pete (you can't see that in this clip) and the man did not listen, which is why I became frustrated.

Like you/your husband, Pete's immediate reaction was "if I had said that, no one would have said anything." As for the comments about how Indians are friendly and affectionate, which is absolutely true (and one of the things we love about it), but in this case (which I admittedly did not convey thoroughly), Hays was a photo-prop. Shows how low moral values they have in their country. And distrust. Can't even pick up a kid out of affection. They are just materialistic PPL without culture.
This was bound to happen, when you prioritize them over indians in india and they treat you like nothing btw it was quite a dull, boring and pinch of over reaction vlog.
Visited a few years ago and loved this vlog for not only refreshing memories of the place but also how I felt there. Most other destinations involve a visit to a monument and then you can shut the history/architecture/sightseeing mode of the brain off. In Hampi it's constantly on, and all in living condition. There's no other distraction either. Like your, I too at some point gave up needing to know the background behind everything and just appreciated it for what was in front of me. This, for me, is why Hampi is like no other place I've visited in India. (Well, actually Maheshwar is a bit like this too - for the river, ghat, and looms.) Wondering whether Rome and some parts of Greece feel like this too. Pete, excellent running and so creative! I've never seen such a thing before! Please don't ever buy a real drone. And Steph, it's only fun if you add your shots of Pete running in the edit.
Such a brilliant way to describe it. And I never thought about it, but Rome does feel like it in a way, but because it’s not rural I think it loses some of its magic? (Though Rome is one of our favorite places and just a few weeks ago we were on the trams not able to get over the amazing stuff you pass on a normal commute.) also, with Rome and Athens you sort of expect it, but unfortunately we don’t learn nearly as much about India, so to travel there and discover stuff like this is always a delightful (yet embarrassing) surprise. I’m glad you enjoyed Pete’s drone bit lol. It’s been his schtick for awhile now when he finds the right moment. There’s a shot in our visit to Katsuoji temple (I think the vid is “how we came to travel full time”) where he also fakes being a drone. 😂😂😂
Hampi is high on my shortlist for my January trip - I can't believe my last visit was in 2011. And as many times as I went there, I've still never seen the Stone Chariot! Also Mango Tree / whatever Garden looks totally different! Which makes sense, places change in 12 years lol. One of my absolute favorite places in the world.
1.Hampi is the capital city of vijaynagara dynasty 2.Just opposite to the stone chariot there are sapthaswara stones where saregamapa swaras can be heard but govt has restricted from those pillars as people are mishandling them 3.Where Pete is trying to recreate as drone shots😂😂 is actually a market and there merchants used diamonds as a means for buying horses from people coming from various like china, mangolia etc.. All those are carvings made on the temple walls and i was really fascinated with history of hampi😮😮.
Such good info! This is why I love RUclips! We learn so much from the comment section! So much that it makes it worth putting up with the nonsense... ;) Appreciate you watching and taking the time to teach us these things.
Take a tour guide it will help you understand rich scientific and cultural heritage of Hampi Hampi is not a place to just enjoy or for sightseeing you need atleast 4days to undestand the architecture marvel the amount of work done to build it ,what each carving depicts, the musical pillars function ,the gold and diamond bazzars etc...
1:40 fun fact that is not a chariot. It only looks like a chariot. Those wheels (now fixed) were earlier movable. Those wheels when rotated at certain speed would illuminate the light inside the chamber and the gods idol would show. If you look closer the seals made to fix the wheels in ground are recent. But the wheels have friction marks. There is more to it....
I am sorry for those people who didn't respect the boundaries of privacy. I am glad you shared it with us because it's a learning curve for all of us here. Hope you had an amazing trip in hampi. ;)
This area around Hampi has huge significance. Hanuman, Jambavath, Sugreev, Vali,. etc world's first super men come from this region, documented in Ramayana (Second largest after Mahabhrata)and oldest poetry about the King Lord Ram. Sugreev travelled around the world & in the Kishkinda Kanda, chapeter he describes the regions and description of the world from Andes, Arctic, Antarctic etc from this location written more than 50000 years ago.
It is not that simple. Hampi was not just attacked/defeated by the Deccan Sultanates. It was an all out attack that included the Sultanates, Gingee Nayakas, Gajapatis of Odisha, & Kingdom of Mysore. Everyone is so eager to throw the Muslim factions under the Bus whilst giving a free pass to the Hindu Kings/Administrators or Chieftains who worked together to destroy it. I wonder why.
Who told you Hampi is under rated Site. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site one of the most popular Historical destination in India. Many Foreign Nationals have visited Hampi in the past. In comparison, Badami, Aihole, Pattadakkal, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Haveri, Raichur, Bellary, Yadgir, Bidar, Vijayapura, Kalaburgi are some lesser known Under rated Historical destinations in Karnataka State in Southern part of India.
Actually, many places are underrated in India...many foreign tourists only visit overrated, crowded, dirty and shady alleys of Delhi and Mumbai and say oh look this is India, so chaotic, scammers but never visit such peaceful, architecturally marvelous places.
Stay happy and enjoy you're Journey in India and other parts of world . I also wish best of luck for youre channel and journey coming ahead . Enjoy!!!😊

U should have seen the architecture marvel of virupaksha temple, its inverted image of gopuram from a pin hole camera in d corner of temple .I think u also missed out ceiling of d temple, its unbelievable.
You should have taken guide. They know the corners of the temple and show you intricate details that you can't find by yourself. If you happen to visit any other UNESCO world heritage site do and again do get a guide please its worth it. Next you should go to Khajuraho (Chandravashi lineage temples, Hampi is Suryavanshi lineage)
That guy who lifted your child actually didn't mean any harm or disrespect. It's actually a very common thing in India that when we see a very cute child we tend to pick it up and pamper it.
I know that he was well-intentioned and that he meant no harm. But, we're teaching Hays that saying no to unwanted physical touch is perfectly acceptable (consent!), even if the intentions are good, and he asked him to stop, as did Pete (you can't see that in this clip) and the man did not listen, which is why I became frustrated.
I think we narrowly missed them in a few places, but our videos are currently about 6 weeks behind. We filmed so much in India that it's taking awhile to get through and edit them. Next up: Goa.
Thank you again for showing the less popular places of India to the world. There are soo many places like this all over India, which the people from outside India don't visit because they are not popular enough.
At 6:01 some one lifting your child don't take it offence in western culture you don't permit but Indian culture it's a common thing people like to cuddle kids, being cautious is important because you will find danger every part of the world. But again it's very common thing.

You shouldn't have reacted like that with the man was lifting your kid, he did it because of affection towards your kid
They are overreacting people.
Shows how low moral values they have in their country. And distrust. Can't even pick up a kid out of affection. They are just materialistic PPL without culture.
@@Tinytoy-vs4qoThey were not over reacting....In their culture, that is wrong,so they reacted like that...
This was bound to happen, when you prioritize them over indians in india and they treat you like nothing btw it was quite a dull, boring and pinch of over reaction vlog.
The ancient indian glory will rise once again.
Hampi has history in every stone. Every blade of wild grass when moved reveals an artefact.
Beautifully put.
You have chosen to the right place for visiting among others.... All the best ..... 👍
Can't believe it took us so long to check it out! Truly an amazing place.
1.Hampi is the capital city of vijaynagara dynasty
2.Just opposite to the stone chariot there are sapthaswara stones where saregamapa swaras can be heard but govt has restricted from those pillars as people are mishandling them
3.Where Pete is trying to recreate as drone shots😂😂 is actually a market and there merchants used diamonds as a means for buying horses from people coming from various like china, mangolia etc..
4:43 their was a ton of confusion (completely messed up)😂😂😂😂
Hindi.
Basa.
Banana.😂😂😂
Nice video
*Lot's of love 💕 from India*
You raise a very considerate child. Much appreciated 👍
Once again I would say your son is too cute. God bless your sweet family.
Thank you.
The poles of the vitthala temple can be used as percussion instrument. They make sounds
Proud kannadiga ❤❤ karnataka
Home for humble people and culture heritage
Hays is simply super cute! Hats off Steph & Pete.
May your tribe (youtube/otherwise) increase.☺
Thank you!
Tysm for Visiting Hampi❤️🙏❤️ Love from Karnataka
Hampi is beautiful. There is a spiritual energy to it.
I am very happy that you visited Hampi. My husband loves it and thanks to him that I also visited this incredible place.
It’s really special! Thanks for watching.
Take a tour guide it will help you understand rich scientific and cultural heritage of Hampi
Hampi is not a place to just enjoy or for sightseeing you need atleast 4days to undestand the architecture marvel the amount of work done to build it ,what each carving depicts, the musical pillars function ,the gold and diamond bazzars etc...
Great fun watching your best filmed video of Hampi
Keep going for nxt level
the thing u were running with gopro was gold market
1:40 fun fact that is not a chariot. It only looks like a chariot.
Those wheels (now fixed) were earlier movable. Those wheels when rotated at certain speed would illuminate the light inside the chamber and the gods idol would show. If you look closer the seals made to fix the wheels in ground are recent. But the wheels have friction marks. There is more to it....
India is incredible
That's an understatement!
Why I am addicted to your videos just seems familiar to me 🤠💖
Aw thanks, Dhruvpal! We appreciate it!!
TY for showing this. Will def visit this.
I am sorry for those people who didn't respect the boundaries of privacy. I am glad you shared it with us because it's a learning curve for all of us here. Hope you had an amazing trip in hampi. ;)
It's form a racism, I think if there were any foreign white person in that place she would have acted differently
@@Movieworld1212MW Howdu guru nange adu tumba kettadagi kantu,,, avuru just lift madi mudd madta iddaru..😤
bro why you thinking in there prospect,, I think you know that that's common in india
Only few vloggers come to hampi and it's a very rich culture and ancient monuments built..thank you guys visiting Hampi 🙏
He will not forget Kathakali in his life.. after 25 years, When he saw this video's, that's the best gift for him that you can give 😊
I was so impressed by him remembering the name for it!
@@StephandPete because I'm from Kerala.. and miss my home ( working in Saudi Arabia. But this June, i will go back to Kerala)
Have a great trip home!
I just published a short video on Hampi on my channel. Bumped into this video when I was searching for others, and am glad I did. Nice one!
You guys are amazing! Such a wonderful way of narrating the travel stories! :)
Thank you! That means a lot to us!!
Humpi is Amazing...!!
I definitely love to Visit there.
🙏❣️🇮🇳❣️🙏
Hi, i been there every place you are visiting and i think you guys are enjoying you visit hampi. All love 💕
I have not been there cause I was waiting for Steph and Pete video to show me the way 😜
Haha! Can't wait to see your take on it. ;)
Seriously Hampi is most underrated place
Truly!
There are many places in India which we don't know but they are really beautiful
@@sangeetyatra3805 Very True. Even our own Indian Compatriots are not well aware what exactly exist in our own Country.
Stay happy and enjoy you're Journey in India and other parts of world .
I also wish best of luck for youre channel and journey coming ahead .
Enjoy!!!😊
Thanks, Arzoo! We appreciate that!
So happy you visited Hampi ❤🙏🏻
One of the highlights of our three months, hands down.
I planned to visit humpi in next month I already booked my tickets then I watched your video it’s really informative now i am more interested to visiting humpi…thanks
You'll have a great time Anil! I'm not sure our video is informative, lol, but I'm glad it's made you excited for your trip. It's truly a spectacular place.
Beautiful Hampe ❤❤❤. Thanks for the video Steph and Pete 🙏.
Thanks for watching! We appreciate it.
Your nephew is a darling. He eats everything and do not fuss.
He's our son. :) But actually, he's a very picky eater these days.
Yours priceless smile during presentation is marvelous 🙂
Who, Pete? ;)
The pillar you ran inbetween was a market where gold Diamond gems etc were sold in kilogram
Gold, Silver and Diamonds were sold on the streets of Hampi, that's how rich the Vijayanagara empire was 💞💞💞💞
Where is musical stone clip ?
We didn't know about it! But someone else in the comments said they had stopped it.
U should have seen the architecture marvel of virupaksha temple, its inverted image of gopuram from a pin hole camera in d corner of temple .I think u also missed out ceiling of d temple, its unbelievable.
Thanks for the precious visiting to Hampi 💌 love to watch you both
You should have taken guide.
Hi steph and pete ,
Thanks for visiting India 😊
You visited hampi where people used to sell diamonds on roads during krishnadevaraya reign😄💚
Someone else mentioned that! Hard to believe!
The great maharajadhiraja Krishnadevaraya is an emotion 🤗 . Even though i'm not a kannadiga
Amazing place and Amazing Vlogers Just like you guys . God bless you guys . ❤❤❤❤
Aw, thank you!
Well lot of bad things happen too, to children in India due to lack of awareness of consent. Are you living in a bubble?
What an iconic place to be in.. once Richest place in the world now sad to see ruins... My favourite place in India👍
So, 2 of the best vloggers are at the same place? @those happy days and @Steph and Pete
They leave india its their edited old vlogs😂
I think we narrowly missed them in a few places, but our videos are currently about 6 weeks behind. We filmed so much in India that it's taking awhile to get through and edit them. Next up: Goa.
You should definitely go for halebiddu ,belur and somanathpura those are some incredible things that you will ever see
Next time!
15:10 That boat ride is no fun at all. I wish there are turbo longtail riverboat in india just like in thailand.
Thank you again for showing the less popular places of India to the world. There are soo many places like this all over India, which the people from outside India don't visit because they are not popular enough.
We’ve barely scratched the surface! I think an annual trip to India is in order.
At 6:01 some one lifting your child don't take it offence in western culture you don't permit but Indian culture it's a common thing people like to cuddle kids, being cautious is important because you will find danger every part of the world. But again it's very common thing.
World's biggest open air museum that's Hampi city today..... You can also explore in helicopter view to see whole city.....
2nd most populated city during that time...
World's biggest market place...
City had 60 to 70 miles circumference..... 👍

It's really spectacular, eh!?
@@StephandPete yeah

Hey! If you haven't please visit uttarakhand you will enjoy the nature and landscapes .
I have suggested you got the Dron, pick the great scene our India ❤
Would be amazing, but I'm not sure they're even allowed in India (and we can't afford one anyway)
Keep exploring India
We've only got two more videos left from our time there. 😭 But we'll be revisiting until the day we die, mark our words!
@@StephandPete Please visit again as India is not a country it's a continent of 29 countries.
Can you imagine india if it was not invaded. What positive impact will be on this planet. Love india
Thank you so much for showing this to even us
Thanks for watching, Dipanshu!
"you just asked his name"...."also they don't speak Hindi here..."🤣🤣🤣
LOL I'm so glad someone noticed that. I was laughing so hard while editing it.
