As an ex RAF air traffic controller, an aircraft of this size would generate a lot of wake turbulence, so if you were to let traffic flow ( high sided lorry etc) it could be blown over ….. so imagine a motorcycle or bike, safest to close the road on a few occasions than have an accident . Better safe than sorry !
Waw, interesting ! Didn 't understand why they shut off the traffic! So, that 's why!
That’s no good, what if I was up some ladders near by

The speed with which those engines spool up is crazy. One minute they're idling, the next thing it's full throttle. It's almost a magic trick.
On full throttle they spine faster than sound 💯
That's the frame rate and capturing a spinning prop. They are going much faster than what it looks like, you would just see a blur in person
In the end of the Blade tip they create Sonic boom in every rotation
@@unclassifiedclips The scimitar shaped blades on the A400M are designed so that they don't go supersonic. The shockwaves generated by sonic booms on aircraft like the Tu-95 are generally counterintuitive to the plane's performance.
@@Keklord_ exactly. The blade tips on any prop plane can’t not exceed the speed of sound or their physics/ properties invert and loose thrust. This is why breaking the sound barrier was such an amazing feat. I use to work at RAF Lyneham, I used to watch the Hercs take off and land when they were doing exercises before flying to Afghanistan. They would come in at ridiculously steep angle from a few thousand feet whilst slowing right down to a point they were hovering over the runway and they would take off at steep angle flying up effortlessly, they were amazing to watch such big aircraft being thrown around.
Only ever landed at Lyneham once on a C130 from Gutersloh. Fell asleep before take off and had to be woken after we landed. A lot to say about netted seats LOL.
Waiting to clear customs to be advised there was no staff. So if you have anything to declare, please wait over there and someone will be along shortly.

Northolt was the first passenger airport for London. My uncle was a baggage handler there before Heathrow was built. The Polish squadron of fighter planes were based there, then USAF then RAF. There is a war memorial to the Poles off the roundabout on the A40.
Croydon Aerodrome was the first

Love how the combination of the right frame rate and a rolling shutter makes the props appear like slow-moving scimitars.
Ahahah. There's an Indian Jones joke there
So there's a reason! no idea what you're talking about, but I did wonder why the propellers was so slow? Thought I shouldn't be able to see them rotating while in the air. Pilots are the best, amazing wow!
@@bebaptiste4064 When the prop's rotational speed is exactly a multiple of the video frame rate divided by the number of blades on the prop, it will 'appear' stationary. When it appears to be slowly rotating, what you're seeing is the _difference_ between its rotational speed and that nearest multiple (divided).
The apparent curvature is caused by the 'rolling shutter'. In many digital cameras, frames are scanned from top to bottom, _not_ captured in an instant. A moving object is in a slightly different position at the end of each scan than it was at the start.

I think 2 of these flew out of Machrihanish Scotland recently .
This is RAF Northolt. I grew up right next to it in Ruislip Gardens. It was a Hurricane base During WW2 so the runway is not long. There's been a couple of occasions when a plane has not been able to stop in time and ended up on the A40. It's also where they keep the Queens flight and where Princess Diana's body was flown to from France. It's also where the WW2 planes meet up before a flyover. (Spitfires hurricanes and Lancaster).
My Father was an air-policeman or AP in the USAF. He was assigned to SAC bases and spent a tour at Brize Norton in the early 50's. He loved his time there and would tell us that there were still a lot of holes in the runways (from WWII) that made landing an interesting experience. It is amazing how fast the plane took off. It seemed like it was not going fast enough to be able to take off that fast. It looks really heavy!
My dad, also. We have been just over the river from Barksdale AFB since 1965, so we are used to these big planes, but rarely see these.

That thing's carrying nukes. That's why it's so heavy!!!
Oh yes, my grand was assigned to SAC as well, the doughnut man, they called him. Probably they met as my grand used to say there was a man who loved to be with others in the bath. He was disgusted with the military because most were undisciplined, disobedient, drunkards, troublemakers, women harassers and he knew that the hero archetype was a lie. He couldn't stand war movies. He saw the truth with his own eyes. How many times he screamed, afraid, thinking he was in a battle, trying to survive, while others were running away, as he witnessed countless times. He knew that when the storm came, everybody was for themselves, running to save themselves. It was a big deception for him, that's why he was mostly sad and along with his thoughts. He said we don't know who men are and what they can do. He knew it the hard way.

Good take off! Straight up!
I really miss the days when propellers blurred. Digital videography has totally stuffed that aspect of being an aircraft enthusiast.
Yes. I see what you mean.
this only happens when the FPS matches up, easily fixed however the improved FPS in modern videography blows older media out of the water.
Hello there
Just 10 seconds to take off. Unbelievable. What an aircraft.
It's only a Hecules , nowt special . They do these missions day and night all year round . It's their job .
This huge aircraft takes off really quickly.........
Seemed like it but the thrust to weight ratio on a Airbus a400m Atlas is really high and just enough for a military transporter and it made it looked also a high angle of ascend because of the zoom
Its because its empty and lightly fueled.
That’s a great idea use the emergency vehicles to block the road for the plane to come in to land along with the traffic signals
They have to cause morons don’t pay attention to the road signals
Exactly but dramatic from the old bill.
@@emmaoakes4170 it’s MPs that do it
@@stuartboi really the MPS
@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 yes that’s why I said it
cant believe that the A400 can take off in the skys so fast
Great plane! Greetings from Romanian Air Force Academy !
Wow it only took about 12 cops to block a 2 Lane Rd. amazing
I'm just wondering why people aren't questions the legality and safety usage of the Hazards and lights. This wasn't an emergency on the road. This was a pre planned enforced road block. So I question the officers in question and their judgement. It's been proven that using Hazards & lights causes anxiety and accidents on the road and why should other vehicles get out of the way if it's not an emergency ??
@@fay-amieaspen6046 it is not the lights that cause accidents on the roads or anywere else it is people
Damn that little jets landing was smooth.
Wow that's a great camera 📷 that was pretty far 👀😃
they seem to take off with so much ease
its empty
I often get to see these lined up airside at Brize, they are a thing of beauty
Good that some people actually noticed it was RAF police and not Military Police. And yes there is a difference. Also RAF and Military Police have power over civilian Police on MOD property which can expand further than the edge of airfields or barracks or training areas.
I should know I was a Military Policeman, are also trained in exactly everything civilian Police are with the difference being obviously trained for combat. RAF and Military Police have completely different duties during war than they do in peacetime.
RAF and Military Police can only make citizens arrests off of MOD property.
neither RAF police or Military police - this is MoD Police.
@@steveedwards2448 is it ours with no hats, jackets agape, hands in pocket?🫣
But who noticed the fact that the cars were still driving down the road, ahead of the Globe Master, as seen when it takes to the air?
Hahaha Military Police trained in combat, don't make me laugh......
@@steveedwards2448 White hats "Snowdrops" = RAF Police. Interestingly, RAF Police do not have 'blue light' authority off-base. They may have additional powers conferred by being 'Special Constables' under local arrangements with whichever constabulary they fall under, but they don't have off base power over civilians by default.
Wow 🤩 brave pilots!
Yeah, but that landing... They must be brave: It's carrying nukes. That's why they closed the road; to get the airspeed low enough that the plane didn't over-run on full brakes + reverse thrust. I call FULL B-S!!!
Boris’s gift from the WEF being delivered!
Never seen such a large brown envelope before!!!
