I did something similar- when you're asked to name Silver, it says "Rival's Name?". So I thought it was literally saying Rival was his name lol. Because of that, I named him Rival.
It turns out that the AI in Gen 2 has an extra possibility to miss status moves. This is probably unaffected by Mind Reader because of some sort of programmer oversight. That's why Chuck's Poliwrath failed its Hypnosis.
Every time I see a crazy challenge that sounds fun as hell, it happens to be you. I've always been a fan of Team Rocket and all their poison types plus Rattata. Funny as hell
This wouldn't really work, because your previous team was the team that beat your current team. So losing would mean you are given a winning setup everytime.
17:43 Beedrill has way more special defence than most people think (80 compared to alakazams 85), people really underestimate the bugs, but they are pretty good early game.
I mean, just in general people underestimate bug types. It's kind of justifiable in Gen 1, but by Gen 2, the bug type became remarkably powerful. Between the super defensive additions Shuckle and Forretress, along with the immensely powerful addition that is Heracross, bug types are no joke. Oh, and I guess Scizor exists too... So yeah, it doesn't make a lick of sense as to why people still shit on bug types. I mean, jeez... if people want to shit on a type, Ghost (specifically Gen 1 & 2) and Ice (who to this day only have like... 4 notably good Pokemon) are right there.
@@harrisonbaguley5691 Beedrill only has 3 things going for it in gen 2, attack, special def, and twinneedle, since it's the 2nd best bug attack, and nothing gets megahorn. Gen 3 gives it sludge bomb, but only in postgame, so the only time I used it was in my bug type only Firered run.
I swear to God Beedrill can 1HKO almost all the psychic types. He has healing moves, status moves, stat gaining moves, Twineedle, poison, grass, and fighting moves. Nobody at all gives him the props he deserves. Just yesterday I OHKO a level 100 Alakazam with Twineedle on Pokemon Stadium R2. He can sweep entire teams if he is set up properly. Fuck everybody that thinks only megahorn is viable, nah, you're just too lazy to learn to use Twineedle.
@@sameash3153 twinneedle is only 50 power, 75 with stab. If you are actually doing something competitive, hidden power is better, and better pokes can use It. Beedrill is only good in-game early on. Tbh it's probably the funniest and coolest pokemon challenge I've ever seen. The only ones who could maybe rival it in terms of fun strategizing are the "status move only" and "No pokemon center" ones (but they still are rather annoying because the fights are generally really tedious). Also, I could see the same challenge but changed a bit : Maybe you could only keep the team of the precedent gym leader/elite four... Or maybe you could always have the same team as your opponent (but if you lose, like in this video, you can keep the team to train it a bit)... I think that could be really fun :)
I've had a pokemon use metronome against me ONCE, and since I've always hated the move. was hunting for a togepi and when I finally found one it used metronome which turned into explosion.
I like to think that Morty is self aware in this run and doesn't order his Pokémon to curse you but actually saw your strategy and was yelling at you thr whole time
Hey, Smallant. Love the weird pokemon runs that you do! I have a concept that I thought would be fun, yet also strategically oriented like the runs you do. Beat pokemon (insert pokemon game here) using only not very effective moves? Essentially, beating the game being the worst trainer possible. No limitations on pokemon team. No items in battle. Opponent's HP must be lowered using an attacking move (no damaging status effects). Attacking moves must be not very effective to opponent. Battle on Set.
There's a problem with this challenge and it's the first rival battle - even if you do it in later gens where you start with a STAB move, you battle a rival who is weak to you and you have no resisted moves against them. Otherwise, it sounds like a great idea. Maybe just ban super effective hits and allow neutral damage like normal moves?
@@harrisonbaguley5691 That's a really good point. Could maybe institute the policy after the first gym, or maybe he just has to lose the first rival fight 😉. The point is to be the worst trainer possible!

Ant: “I don’t think there is a team full of Metapods”

I've had a pokemon use metronome against me ONCE, and since I've always hated the move. was hunting for a togepi and when I finally found one it used metronome which turned into explosion.
I think this challenge plus a randomizer would be awesome. So you dont know what trainers have until you battle them
SmallAnt: here's a genuinely awesome, fun, Pokemon Crystal challenge.

I like to think that Morty is self aware in this run and doesn't order his Pokémon to curse you but actually saw your strategy and was yelling at you thr whole time
One of those challenges that I feel would be amazing in just about every pokemon game.
SmallAnt : you dosen`t understand before you see
Me : i understand everything
Hey, Smallant. Love the weird pokemon runs that you do! I have a concept that I thought would be fun, yet also strategically oriented like the runs you do.
Beat pokemon (insert pokemon game here) using only not very effective moves? Essentially, beating the game being the worst trainer possible.
No limitations on pokemon team.
No items in battle.
Opponent's HP must be lowered using an attacking move (no damaging status effects).
Attacking moves must be not very effective to opponent.
Battle on Set.
Sounds...slow.
@@yehoshuas.6917 I have a feeling that Platinum with no damage and BOTW Nuzlocke are way slower than this would be, but fair point.
HOP DISAGREES USE ONLY SUPER EFECTIVE MOVES
@@harrisonbaguley5691 That's a really good point. Could maybe institute the policy after the first gym, or maybe he just has to lose the first rival fight 😉. The point is to be the worst trainer possible!
I'd just watch a whole hour of SmallAnt Stories, he always has something fun to tell!
When you relise the 1 is gone.
Damoñ3 used thief! It is very efective!
