  • It's been over two years since we started the build on our Datsun 280z. We decided to highlight the main parts of the build in 10 minutes. Though it might not seem like much, we did the work entirely ourselves which has made this build so much more memorable. But the build isn't over we just wanted to summarize what we've done so far before we start the next chapter of the 280z build. Thanks for watching and all support .... please hit that subscribe button! Stay Classy Crew!!

    I have been a Z car fan since I bought my first one in 1994. It was the first car I bought with my own money and I was 17. I bought an 86 ZX Turbo in 2003. I will buy another Z car here soon. Came here to relive some nostalgia

    Great overview! Enjoyed the progress and looking forward to more Datsun Z adventures! Question ... are you sticking with the stock wheels? I believe you purchased another wider set at some point of time.

    • @NewDimensionMotorsports
      @NewDimensionMotorsports  6 лет назад +1

      Nicholas Bennington Thanks! I did buy some wider wheels for the Datsun a while ago, sold them because I didn't like the fitment. Now I just recently purchased another set of wheels that I'm hoping will fit the way I want them to. So if all goes well, I will be putting them on the 280z.

    Factory Five needs to repop these. I'll bet they could put a package together that would accept any number of nice cheap engines. Probably could put together for $25 to $30,000. For a Kick-Ass two-door sports car.

    Awesome job. Just wondering why you didn't unbolt the fenders and the wiper cowl when you painted the engine bay? It would have made masking off 10x easier, plus its a good idea to clean up under the fenders thats where these like to hide rust.
    Also just my opinion, but if you gotta lose a bumper, I would toss the rear bumper and put on a 240z front bumper. Or maybe just make bumperettes for the fenders :)

    • @NewDimensionMotorsports
      @NewDimensionMotorsports  4 года назад

      It honestly was an oversight on my end .... I thought of doing that after I already painted the engine bay. It will be something that I do in the next year or so.

    Im about to start on my 1975 280z, i have had it since i was 16. Its been sitting at my parents house in the driveway the last 12 years plus. Any tips on whereto start?

    • @NewDimensionMotorsports
      @NewDimensionMotorsports  4 года назад +1

      Hey Shawn! Before doing anything I would just inspect the car to see what it needs. (Rust/frame repair, body work, interior, see if it runs, suspension/brakes) Knowing what is involved right from the start will make it a lot easier and will hopefully reduce the amount of surprises down the road. It depends on what your plans are for the car but if your looking to keep everything stock I would start by seeing what the Zee needs to get running once you determine how far you want to go with your build. Maybe do a compression test and/or leakdown test to make sure the engine seems healthy. Not sure how much your wanting to dive into it but if the engine needs work it's the perfect opportunity to pull it out and clean up the engine bay. My biggest piece of advice would be to embrace the roadblocks that you may run into (there will be a lot of them lol) or try and start with small things to avoid bitting off more than you can chew. It's easy to be overwhelmed at times but restoring my Zee has been one of the best experiences of my life and has taught me so much. Make sure enjoy the process and let me know if you run into any issues along the way. -Nick

      @@NewDimensionMotorsports thank you very much for getting back with me, wasnt sure since this was an older video. I know it needs quite a bit to get it going. But now that you mentioned it i do need to have a good look at the frame. If thats in bad shape i might not get into it all. I will keep you updated though. I love these cars!!
