As a Japanese, I never thought of Buddhism as a religion to begin with. Because although Buddha teaches us how to live, he is not a god. Buddha is a philosopher and Buddhism is a philosophy. I believe that he is a philosopher who taught us how to overcome the sorrows, anger and sufferings of life. I do not know about Buddhism in other countries, but at least Japanese Buddhism is not negative about paganism. There are roughly 13 different sects of Buddhism in Japan, but they do not quarrel with each other. My ancestors were members of the Jodo sect (denomination name), my husband was a member of the Tendai sect (denomination name), my uncle was a member of the Nichiren sect (denomination name), and my son had attended a kindergarten of the Soto sect (denomination name). There didn't have any problem. And to the Japanese gods, humans are just like trees, dogs, cats, and mountains, so they are not particularly kind to humans. Maybe that is why Japanese people feel uncomfortable with Christianity, which treats humans in a special way.

@Lucas David Vaz No Christianity will never spread in Japan, Japanese are very conservative when it comes to their culture and overall history. Japanese would never abandon the faith of their ancestors.
Funny thing is most of the Japanese Christians are either immigrants from Europe-America and descendants of WW2 settlers who married native Japanese people, and these two groups are the sole reason why Christianity is a thing in Japan.
@Lucas David Vaz Also it doesn't matter if There are more Christians in Japan than Buddhists in Brazil. These are merely religious demographics and they don't prove anything.
Also FYI, Buddhists don't convert people or advertise their faith like Christians do. Despite this fact the number of Buddhists increased in Brazil.

They still wear their traditional kimono and Okinawan emblems, and holy figures which are Pagan traditions according to Christianity hence they can never be Christians lol.
