I literally LOL when you said a "retinol complex" sounds like something you'd work out with your therapist and that you have a retinol complex. 😀 Happy Thursday, Doc♥
You’re so funny Dr. Dray
😆
I have a regional complex!!! Anyone know of a good therapist? How would they treat you? What would they prescribe to help with it?
These “come window shop with me” vlogs by Dr. Dray are my favorite. Down-to-earth, super relatable, trustworthy, fun, and extremely knowledgable. Thanks for another great outing! 😊
I wish they sold the Nivea creme without fragrance. I really like it but I can not stand the smell and I think my eye area is a little sensitive to it. Also regards to the cetaphil, the niacinamide irritates my skin at times and when my skin is irritated I used to use the old cetaphil, but now need another basic gentle cleanser when my skin is at its worse. I can handle niacinamide on good days but not my bad.
You should try the target version of Cerave and tell us how it compares.
I appreciate the sheer crunchy dryness of this lady's delivery
I'm pretty sure one could dehydrate some apple chips with it
This gave me a good laugh! I love her delivery style 🙂
This was a 26 minute video of Dr. Dray talking about products and dragging brands, and im all here for it
Andrea, Nivea goes by "color code". White bottles are very thin, watery, light blue bottles are a little thicker of a lotion, but the dark blue bottle (of body lotion) is much like the blue tin, very very moisturizing & not watery at all, not one bit; very nice body lotion. The blue tin and the dark blue body lotion have been staples in my routine for decades!
I just recently discovered Nivea in the jar/tin. I never thought I would like wearing such a heavy moisturizer, but after the initial oily skin freak out, my skin is looking amazing. Wish I had known about it years ago!
@@transplantminnesotan Especially for dry skin, it is amazing. I hope they never change it, or do away with it. It is their No°1 item. My cabinet is stocked (it never goes bad either, when unopend). And I use it up quite quickly too.
Does this nivea contain fragrance?
@@usernameisunavailable8270 All Nivea contains fragrance!

Oh do we love a Dr. Dray Target run! Happy Thursday everyone !
👱♀️❤
Yes we do! Happy Thursday 🥰
Or a Dr Dray Anywhere Run!! Love the shop with me videos the best!! Everyone have a great day.
Hi Dr. Dray! I just wanna say that Jumiso, a Korean skincare brand, just released 2 new sunscreens! One mineral, one hybrid. Also they're fragrance-free! Here's the names of the products:
- Jumiso Waterfull Hyaluronic Sunscreen (Hybrid)
- Jumiso Super Soothing Cica & Aloe Sunscreen (Mineral)
Happy Thursday!
Thanks for sharing
👱♀️❤
I love Jumiso brand! I’ll have to check them out.
i also feel like skincare schedules can lead to trouble bc your skin doesn’t always act the same! if you happen to feel dry and irritated on an “exfoliation day” you’re doing more harm than good
I love Nivea but only the one made in Germany. I can find it on Amazon. Would love to see you do a comparism of the ingredients. They are different. The German creme has Aqua, Paraffinum Liquidum, Cera Microcristallina, Glycerin, Lanolin Alcohol (Eucerit¨), Paraffin, Panthenol, Decyl Oleate, Octyldodecanol, Aluminum Stearates, Citric Acid, Magnesium Sulfate, Magnesium Stearate, Parfum, Limonene, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, Citronellol, Benzyl Benzoate, Cinnamyl Alcohol
The American one has Water, Mineral Oil, Petrolatum, Glycerin, Microcrystalline Wax, Lanolin Alcohol, Paraffin, Magnesium Sulfate, Decyl Oleate, Octyldodecanol, Aluminum Stearates, Fragrance, Panthenol, Citric Acid, Magnesium Stearate, Sodium Anisate
Please do a video on this one day.
How strange the american version, without Eucerit. In Brazil, all Nivea cream blue tin have Eucerit, that's why we buy it. We have A LOT of grandmas and mothers who used for a long time and their skin were almost without wrinkles for a long time. I demonized Nívea before, but started acid (AHA and Tretinoin) and Nívea is the only one who calms my skin. Even without sensitivity, I like to pass almost everyday to sleep at night. Also during the day as eye cream.
@@brunagomes4333 It seems like a small difference in ingredients but the US version irritates my skin and feels much too greasy.
I use micellular water only as a makeup remover when I get makeup on my clothes, works better than any regular stain remover. Works great!
Your commentary is the best. Informative, no BS, and so funny 😂 thank you!
I actually appreciate that everyone and their mother make dupes for a product like the one that laniege did. I have tried both the laniege one and the pacifica one and I have to say that i prefer the pacifica one more and it is cheaper.
Would love to see the famous Nivea moisturiser cream review (the one in blue) :) That’s one of the most accessible and affordable products I guess
Another thing about spray sunscreens, Lab Muffin (also not a fan of them) has said that SPF tests are not done on propellant type sunscreens and that in order to get the SPF amount listed on your average size can, you're getting a third of the sunscreen amount and you'd have to use more of the canister product every time as opposed to the standard sunscreen.
Greetings d b hope u r well n Happy Thursday😀👍💜….
Good to know
I’m glad you explained the difference between Nivea and lamuer
I have been using that Aveeno cream instead of the oat gel moisturizer because it’s out of stock so often. I LOVE it. It’s a different texture for sure, but is a favorite for my very annoyingly sensitive and dry skin.
I used to paint with acrylics and was taught to dip into the water and rub the brush on a bar of Ivory soap. So when bought makeup brushes I bought a new bar of Ivory and that is how I wash them Works great, cheap and easy. Rinse thoroughly.
Your shop-with-me videos are some of my favorite. Such comprehensive information. Thank you!
Thanks for watching
I simply looooove your videos I learn so much. You are the one who "cured" my post-inflammatory hypetpigmentation after I used I'm Skin licorice serum!!
Clicked on here out of curiosity- just planning to just see a minute of this… stayed the entire video. Lmfao when she joked about McDonalds making their own makeup remover wipes 😂✨ She’s gold.
You are referring to Kimberly @TheWads who uses Dr. Bronner's to wash her veggies and fruits. I thought it was weird too and tried it out. By washing it to wash my fruits and veggies, they actually stay fresh longer. I feel good that I have cleaned off some of the pesticides off since I don't buy organic. I also have been using Dr. Bonner's to clean my makeup brushes for many years. Love your Target videos Dr. Dray!
Many of the OTC products suggest more excessive use of the product than is necessary or ideal for the health of the skin. Salicylic acid and glycolic acid don’t need to be used daily, if anything that will compromise your skin’s natural barrier and strip the oils that are crucial to skin health. It’s better to use exfoliating products on alternating days. If you’re ever curious about specific recommendations for your skin type be sure to see an esthetician!
Dr. Dray, peach suits you so well!
My husband and I got some sunscreen for the lake the other day and he doesn’t like the lotion type so we picked up a spray. It lasted us each about 4 uses before it was gone. And we did NOT use as much as we should have. Spray is such a waste of money!
I've noticed that the spray stuff lasts much longer if I spray it into my hands and then rub it in. I only actually spray it anywhere I cannot reach(mainly my back). Yes tho, rhey are a waste of money.
I used Dr Bronner's castile soap for cleaning veggies, sinks, body to my face for over two decades until you educated me about our skin and product mechanisms . I still use this castile soap for washing veggies and dishes, because I am converting to a grey watering system to reuse my kitchen water for watering my garden.
I stocked up on the new Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser from Costco, and have been using it as my main cleanser for my body, hands and face. Don't know why some may not like it, but I LOVE IT!
I've also seen articles suggest the fragrance free/baby one for washing makeup brushes.
I guess I'm in love with sudsy, foaming soap or liquid cleansers. Even for my face, with sensitive, rosacea patches.
I'm all about your idea for a finding your roots version of the different branches of the phylogenetic tree of products, i've been leaning into that lately!
I use the Bliss block star. The first application I was a little overwhelmed with the smell of all the oils in it…very earthy and it was the scent that kind of stung my eyes for a few seconds. The tint is very nice on my fair skin tone. Subsequent applications have gone better and I love those little tubes for sticking in a pocket, car, purse, travel bag, etc., so I can see myself repurchasing.
It's lavender oil used for the scent. I've found it dissipates very soon after I apply it. Love this product!
@@MyCleverHandle Ah, that would explain it; I’ve never been a fan of lavender. I agree, it does go away, but the first day I smelled it long after application compared to subsequent days.
Hi Dr. Dray!! Can you do a video talking about how Matthew McConaughey reversed his hair loss?
Interesting..Didn't know that..My husband would be interested.
Found this tidbit on 'the google': “The first form of face wipes was invented by Arthur Julius in 1957. Julius created the brand Wet-Naps and took his new product to the 1960 National Restaurant Show in Chicago. Just three years later, Julius had his Wet-Naps in every Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. Although general wet wipes can be used for everything from diaper changes to wiping away sweat, specially formulated wipes were created and marketed as facial wipes. There are two main reasons for this. First, many women wear makeup, which may be tough to remove. Second, the skin on a person’s face is far more sensitive than the skin on the rest of their body, so it requires a gentler formula.”
Very interesting Pamela. Perfect for when women started to wear more make-up, especially on the eyes.
👱♀️❤
I still remember those lemon scented wipes fro kfc as a child.
Yes, I just started using Bioderma micellar water. I've heard you say when you've tried them, they've burned your eyes. I sure wouldn't want that ! The Bioderma one does not burn my eyes at all. I use it as the first step of my 2 step cleanse. I'm not a heavy makeup user....just a little eye liner & brow filler. So, the micellar water works well for me as a first cleanse.
I have washable bamboo round pads that I use to apply the micellar water. I really like them & not using the use-once-throw-away kind.
Mine even came w/a small , zippered mesh bag. I let a pad dry, then put it in the bag.....toss the bag in when I do a light color load.
That ring in your left hand is so cute!
That Pacifica bedtime lip ointment is so hydrating and cheaper than a lot. I love it.
Found a Germany made Nivea on Amazon. Read the first few ingredients on the jar Dr Dray picked up and showed from Target and you will see the ingredients difference from the one on Amazon imported directly from Germany. The Target version says Hamburg which we know is in Germany but the ingredients panel doesn't support the panel from the Amazon imported one from Germany. Hmmm....
I just started using the Nivea cream to help with the dryness from using tretinoin. It may not be a dupe for la mer, but I would NEVER spend that much money on a face moisturizer. So Nivea is just fine for me lol
Alba has the marine skincare
I'll be turning 50 this year, and I still experience adult acne. I have been using Cetaphil gentle facial cleanser and moisturizer successfully for years. Briefly, a while back, upon recommendation of dermatology videos on the interwebs, I experimented with CeraVe gentle cleanser, but it didn't seem strong enough to deal with the oily areas of my skin. So, I stuck with Cetaphil. Recently, however, the skin on the forehead, nose, and somewhat on the chin have become rough, texturized, and remain greasy, even after enjoying years of smooth clear skin with Retin A and Adapalene. Now, those acne treatments are making those areas flaky and not controlling the acne and texture as much. Also, I am no longer receiving the softening and smoothing effects all over the skin, but especially on cheeks and eyes, when washing and moisturizing with Cetaphil. After seeing this video, it is likely the new formulation. Any suggestion on what would be gentle yet effective for combination skin, in a cost-effective large size? Thank you. Take care.
Calm and restore gel cream just feels like luxury when you apply it
Dr. Dray I love the idea of doing a family tree on products. And then find out which one is the best and the best bang for your buck.
I just picked up the Nivea cream the other day, I really love it.
👍🏼👍🏼
I love it for my hands!!!
Go ahead and “dork out”, saves me $$ all the time! Thanks
Dr Bronner’s liquid soap is indeed very drying for the face and hair. I now use it to wash my makeup brushes and it works great for that purpose.
Idk why some products with castile soap are makerted for skin use i used to use it but not much because it rinses off completely instantly drying your skin if you dont use lotion
Me too.
Me too, great for makeup brushes!
I use it to wash my hands but diluted and it's fine but also to clean the house lol
i never understood y someone would use that on their body lmao
As a parent Neutrogena makeup wipes are great for taking marker off of skin. Even takes off sharpie.
Dr Dray, i am begging you to PLEASE make family trees of products!!! that would be so interesting and fun!!! i would love to see how you would seperate the different ingredients into branches! and see if any are actually better/ more effective than the originals
Nivea blue tin cream which is made in Germany gives my skin a well-moisturized glow. Maybe that's why it's a supposed dupe for La Mer? (The Nivea blue tin made in Mexico - the one sold in the US - isn't the same.) My skin reacts to the fragrance, petrolatum and/or lanolin alcohol in it though. Thanks, Dr. Dray! 😃
The main ingredients are the same that is why people are saying it's practically the same thing. Add the ordinary marine hyaluronics or something like that and now it's virtually the same thing 🤣
@@msk-qp6fn German made Nivea blue tin ingredient panel (Amazon) is different in the first few ingredients than the blue jar Dr. Dray showed in this video from Target. Both say made in Germany/Hamburg but decisively different in those first few important ingredients. Also some ingredients are out of order from Dr. Dray's Target jar to what Amazon has in the German tin....just my observation. :)
I really like Bliss Block Star. It does smell like lavender.
I had a friend that was a burn victim and the burn center used Nivea crème on the grafted skin. This is where I came to know about this product. Now this was 40 years ago but I have to say I think the Nivea crème is amazing. Especially for the hands and fingernails. I’ve never had a severe burn (other than sunburn) so I’m sure there are different products used for burns today.
I love it , used it every day since I was born .
I have a large skin graft on my left arm,and I love nivea,I need a thick cream, and nivea does the trick,I find it too heavy on the rest of my body, but my graft loves it.x
Thanks for sharing that! I actually came to this video because I wanted to see if Dr. Dray had a video mentioning Nivea because I used it sometimes as a teenager but recently bought some that was on sale so it's been about 3 months now that I've been putting it on my face after my showers. Since menopause my skin has been so dry and I have really enjoyed it! I'm wearing it at night since it's a little on the heavier goopy side. I really wanted to see if it was my imagination that this is good stuff. Especially for beginners that never really had a skin routine and just need something simple for moisturizer. I was surprised to read your story. Very interesting! Thank you!
the advantage of using a moisturizer in the shower is more relevant to people that live in cold weather, maybe? it is very cold where i live and in the winter, i absolutely do not apply moisturizer on my damp skin because i want to get dry and dressed asap after showering. the nivea shower lotion does leave my skin feeling a bit soft, but the fragrance is very strong and i don't like the smell of it
I hear a lot of complaints with the new formulation for cetaphil and I’m not sure why. The ingredients in the new ones are far superior to me. I absolutely love the new cleanser and I hope they don’t change it with all the feedback cause it’s the only cleanser I have tried that doesn’t dry me out and doesn’t make my face hot or burn. Believe me I’ve tried so many and it’s the only one that works for me.
I think some people just hate change.
I like it too, I just finished a bottle! Haven't used the old formula though.
The new one actually made my face break out SO bad
@@hannahbanana2118 oh no! I’m so sorry! That sucks. I feel like people either love or hate that new formula. Lol. I hope you find something that works better for you!
@@hannahbanana2118 same 🥴 That’s what people don’t get and it’s not funny either
The roller oil remover ball thing is volcano rock. You can wash it dry it and reuse. They do remove oil around the nose forehead. Stocking stuffer for my daughters they like it.
The Bliss sunscreen is FANTASTIC!
I wish I could take you with me everytime I shop so you can help break down ingredients in items. I find this stuff so interesting
The Pacifica lip mask is not new, have been using it for maybe 2 years? For me, I love, my bestie did not. Thank you sooooo much for all your guidance! So valuable.
Dr. Dray, I adore your intellect! I am certain I don't speak only for myself, when I say, we adore coming along with you and geeking out over phylogenetic trees! You sound like a great friend :)
Bioderma sensibio has been a godsend for me - I’ve got no-bending post-surgery restrictions for the next two months so I can’t bend over the sink to wash my face in the morning. I can, however, use this and it’s been great.
Dr bronners is great but unfortunately it is painfully drying. Almost unusable it’s so drying.
I think that CC creams seems to have more coverage than BB
Love Bioderma Sensibio in the pink label for make up removing. I follow it up with either Curology cleanser, which is my favorite, or Cerave cleanser for dry skin. I like Bliss Block Star sunscreen too. It is the least drying of the mineral sunscreens that I have tried. I wish it was more than 30 spf though. I have some LRP UVmune coming. I am looking forward to trying that.
I was just in Target last night for the first time in several years. I would have stood around and studied all the different stuff, but the Hub was with me... Best to do that when alone! I decided to try the Black Girl sunscreen. I've I've read that it's a good one for the face. Can't wait to give it a try! I usually use a glycolic acid face wash about 3 to4 times a week. Everyday seems to be a bit irritating to my face. I just use shampoo to clean my makeup brushes. They are made from hair, so why not!
UPDATE: I am not loving the Black Girl sunscreen. I find it a bit greasy, so am still on the hunt for something not so greasy.
I saw the Sun Bum sunscreen on the shelf but I haven’t heard you comment on this. Curious to know what you think.
Dr. Dray, always love watching your video. Your skin so nice! ❤️
I truly believe miceller water is what has gotten rid of my acne once and for all. All I do is use a cold cream to remove makeup, warm wet washcloth to remove it , Miceller water to remove excess makeup and tone for hard water, then nivea (original). I could not do tret or differin since I am allergic. Same with niacinamid. I use the paulas choice bha to exfoliate a few times a week after my Miceller water step.
Phylogenetic trees and evolutionary biology - I can't even! This is why I never miss an episode, @drdray is the best! Thank you!
I love the copper tone glow line. It’s really awesome. Also the in shower lotion is really good in the winter. I have psoriasis and my skin tends to get very dry in the winter and it helped back when I used to unload trucks.
I have psoriasis too. I feel your pain.
I hate coppertone with every inch of my body. Their “Glow” sunblock is chunky glitter that looks like you would use in theater. Then, there’s the coppertone “Kid’s Clear Sparkle” which feels nice on your skin, but it pills up within minutes even if you have clean dry skin with absolutely no products on (reminds me of the Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield). So you absolutely cannot reapply the sunblock or even apply in layers. If you’re looking for a good quality and affordable shimmery sunblock that doesn’t look like cheap chunky glitter, try Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch SPF 50. It’s great for all the skin tones since it won’t leave a white cast of any kind and it’s sweatproof & water resistant.
The bliss block star is my go to. I use it as a foundation over my regular sunscreen because the tint is perfect, and it evens out my skin and looks very natural and I love it!
I have sensitive skin normally, but this does not irritate my skin at all! I have tried so many other tinted sunscreens and this, in my opinion, is the best!
Another great video
But need to tell u that this sunscreen is balling..
Dr. Dray would love for you to do a review on Thayer's witch hazel toner. It's suppose to cleans, tone, and moisturizes. It has rose hips and aloe in it. They have different varieties of it..Many 5 star reviews. If it does all this we really don't need to add much more to our skin care ritual. Thanks!
Can you please review Nivea soft cream for acne
If they made the Nivea without the heavy fragrance (and I love good smelling skincare) it would be the best slugging cream ever. I use it anyway, love the blue tin. Love things where the packaging hasn't changed since the day.
My Oma is 94, used Nivea her whole life, her skin is gorgeous! She smells of Nivea, so it’s a loving comforting smell to me. I, with my sensitive skin, can’t use it.
Danya
Right? Dude nivea needs to get on it and make a fragrance free version. It’s the best but the fragrance is tooo much
It changed a great deal though. I'm from France and the Nivea we buy today I not exactly the same the smell is heavier and the packaging changed, they kept the color though. it used to come metal tins in different sizes. The largest one used to be simply huge.
@@timvandermey4792 My Mutti also used it all her life as well! She passed away in 2019 and I use it and think of her. Like you, I find the smell comforting. :)
+1
Love Target videos! :) I only use micellar water to clean my makeup brushes of foundation, concealer and any other products with silicones. It helps break it down so my cleanser works better to wash the bristles more thoroughly. I buy it from TJ Maxx to save money since I'm not using it on my face. I wash my makeup brushes after every single use. It only takes getting a nasty sty once to learn that lesson. :-( I've used Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds as an all purpose cleaner. It's great for washing dishes by hand, as a floor cleaner, and fruit/veggie wash. You can even use it as laundry detergent.
Micellar is also handy for removing makeup on clothing...or the sofa!
👱♀️❤
Sal Suds is a less toxic substitute for TSP...
Dr dray is nivea good for extremely dry face than Vaseline? Please suggest one I trust your opinion
Oddly my sensitive skin loves that bliss block star tinted sunscreen. It wears nice, doesn't pull, and obviously has a tint. It doesn't sting and is a relatively reasonable price. I got it in my spring fff box.
I'm a fan of sprays, yes I know... but for a face sunscreen this is my go to now.
Same!!
I love that you go to budget-friendly places. I subscribed because you are both fun & informative. Do your thing, Dr Dray!
The Tree Hut Lip Butter is AMAZING!!! It's better then the Laneige Overnight Lip Mask.
That Aveeno face cream is ok, but I like the oat gel moisturizer better. It’s a very light texture cream - any lighter and they might have to call it a lotion. If I want the lighter texture for under sunscreen, I prefer the oat gel moisturizer. If I want a cream, I want something much thicker and richer. It’s an ok product, but Aveeno has other moisturizers that I vastly prefer.
I love the product tree idea! That sounds fun!
How do you feel about Aveeno products if you have a nickel allergy?
Great video. Thank u
I would love to see a video showing dupes of popular/expensive products! Like cheaper products that have very similar ingredients.
So fun to go shopping in the US with you! Greetings from a Norwegian follower
Where I live, Vaseline has been used to prevent diaper rash for decades.
“I have a retinol complex…let’s dig into that” That was funny
The only thing I use Dr Brommers for is to mix it with neem oil and water in a spray bottle as a natural insecticide since I am an avid houseplant collector. I can see using it on produce as well, but could not imagine using it on my body. I also just want to say I love your content!
Okay, I’m soooo intrigued by the product family tree idea. I think that would be SOOO fun and interesting !
I’m so glad and I found your channel. Skin education and a good laugh. 💛
Castille soap is a great makeup brush and sponge cleansers.
Love these videos. MASSIVE BIG PLEASE could you consider doing a video on shaving your head (especially if you are prone to in grown hairs and dry scalp).
The panoxyl makes me breakout the Cerave BP doesn’t.
That cosmetic phylogenic tree idea is golden. It would make a cute collab video as well.👀
I told some family about the benzoyl peroxide to kill bacteria on feet and armpits and it really helped them 😁❤
Micellar water is the perfect morning cleanser! The only one I’ve liked is the 100% Pure Rose Micellar Water. Gets rid of anything on the face from sleeping, and makes me skin feel refreshed!
Thanks for recommending the Undefined R & R Sun Serum, I love it!
Re the pre-cleanse products, I already do that, but with basic lotion like sorbolene or Vaseline lotion. It’s to break up sunscreen (I wear jackets to leave the house, but when indoors I wear body sunscreen). Just rub it on face and body before the shower and it rinses off. It’s the first cleanse in double cleansing.
I had no idea you could get Vitamin A toxicity if you take a multivitamin and use Retin A. I saw that on another channel. Wondered what Dr Dray thinks of this?
Can you make a video on hand cream none of the ones I use don't work that good.
Totally enjoyed you geeking out, best video ever.
I love your shop with me videos, Dr Dray! You look great today; that colour suits you!
I love the Pacifica retinol cream and glow baby peel pads . Magic combo
Loving your “nerd-out”! Im with you!
I love the Bliss mini sunscreen. I take it to the gym and reapply after my workout. It blends beautifully. I just wish it was SPF 50! Thank you you for the great info! 😊
The whole digging through archives to create a tree of the first makeup wipe would be so interesting. Maybe you can collab with Smokey Glow. She loves to do "History of" type if videos
Dr Dray Can the Nivea in the blue jar be used on the face love theses target videos
Yes, it can be used on the face! It does mention it on their site! 😊 The moisturizer is on the thick side and maybe difficult (to some people) spreading it on their face to let you know! 😁 I personally use the cream on my face and body, and love it for my sensitive and dry skin type 😊 Hope this info helps!
