I'm neary 26 and as a kid in a rural town in Australia I had a bit of a scattered introduction to a lot of Doctor Who stories. The first story I ever saw was part one of Robots of Death, which my uncle tried to show me on DVD in 2006, and it terrified me. The next story I watched was The Shakespeare Code on broadcast at my grandparents, which also terrified me, but by this point I was intrigued and started watching the episodes on broadcast from there onwards. My uncle mostly owned Tom Baker DVDs, as well as a few Pertwee stories, and I would lend them from him based on his recommendations. I vividly remember watching Genesis of the Daleks with my sister on takeaway night while our parents were baffled as to how we had been taken in by a show from their childhood, especially since they'd always thought it was silly. Over time my uncle and grandparents started adding to their own Who DVD collections and I would regularly visit their houses just to watch more Doctor Who (I don't think they minded though) and over the years as my parents would take my sister and I on day trips or holidays to other towns I would search through their charity shops for anything Who, thus I ended up first experiencing many Hartnell and Troughton stories on VHS and some later Baker stories like The Keeper of Traken via the Target novels.

I have a weird one. A couple of years ago I started filling the gaps of stories I hadn't seen, one of them being The Dæmons. I got up one morning and put the DVD on and after three parts I had to go out to house-sit a relatives place for the weekend. After forgetting to bring the DVD with me, I turned on live TV while unpacking my stuff only to find the last two parts were being broadcast so I carried on exactly where I left off!

Great video; hearing you guys talking about watching classic stories whilst ill reminded me of when I was once off ill from school and my Dad came home from his lunch break and surprised me with 'The Krotons', 'Seeds of Doom' and 'Time and the Rani' which cheered me up and I got through them in about 3 days.
For me the best way to watch the series would be through DVDs and blu rays as new viewers can then watch any special features and learn more about the stories and how they were made. Plus it can be fun filling in the gaps like completing a jigsaw of Doctor Who.
