would love to hear some more insight on the album Clarity. Guitar tone, songwriting mindset, inspiration behind it, how do you feel about it now, years later? Also Chase This Light, love that album, too. 🤘
I really loved Courtney's voice on "Invented", especially "Coffee & cigarettes" knocked me of my feet. It's so great to hear that she was able to start her own career. I wish her all the best for that!😊👍
54:03 I can confirm that Bottom of the Hill is still around in San Francisco. Thanks for the great content Jim--gunna go back and listen to Invented now
Id love to see a mini dive on some of the classic hits! Like in the middle, sweetness, work etc. It would be cool! You are awesome man, keep it up! Love this stuff!
Every time I think I have figured out what my favorite JEW album is, I listen to one I haven't heard in a while and that one is now my favorite album. Gave Invented a good listen again after watching this and that's exactly what happened again. Courtney's voice was perfect on every song. Thanks so much for making and sharing these, Jim. Looking forward to more.
When did you know you wanted to write songs for a living if you could tell us the actual moment you were when you wrote the album clarity I love that album I think it's one of the best albums I've ever heard and I know a lot about music the way you guys worked together and made some unforgettable rock dude I definitely appreciate your music I write myself but your just a total individual that's amazing truly helped me through the storm thanks again Jim take it easy and peace be with you
Jim, you should try to get Dustin Kensrue from Thrice or Glenn Philips from Toad the Wet Sprocket on the show. Both intelligent and fascinating people.
Knowing nothing about song writing, this was really interesting. Talking about journaling, Jim I stumbled upon your online journal a couple of years ago. Your lyrics are so intriguing and I always wondered what you really meant or what the experience behind them was. So I thought I might find some answers but didn't. I'm totally for artists having their privacy (or anyone) and not having to explain every lyric but I find it really interesting to get to know the person that makes this beautiful art through videos like these!
I feel so stupid but I haven't heard more of your music (excluding the obvious ones) until I watched your podcast, and man, I've been listening Clarity for a month and I haven't gotten over it to start with the rest of albums. It's stupid how good it is, each song is different than the other and it's a whole delight to listen it top to bottom. Comparisons suck, but it took me to Mineral, then a bit Brand New or Taking Back Sunday, then Postal Service and who knows what else, but you did it first! How the f*ck did you do that in 1999? Big Jimmy fan now, cheers from Mexico
Been loving the ‘Mini Dives’ but felt unworthy of these as I didn’t know the artists... 😭 Until Courtney Marie!! 😬 ‘Coffee And Cigarettes’ is one of my faves... 😎 Now I have seen this one, I’m gonna watch them all!! It’s brilliant... Sorry for letting these pass me by Jim... 😢 Never again!! 🏆

Keep it up, Jim. This is like Christmas every Tuesday and Thursday!
I love how she's kicked on in the last 5 years. Really delighted for her success. Her voice and her songs are wonderful.

This is a great episode! I would also love to hear you chat with Geoff Rickly of Thursday - I think that would be super interesting on many levels
omg yes
I could listen to you two talk all day. More Courtney in later episodes? So excited about that publishing deal! Ahh!!

Jim and Glenn is a dream conversation.
Incredible stuff so far, the mini dives are informational for myself and the interviews have been solid. Love the show and the ridiculous fender ads!
Don't sleep on the Courtney record, it will mess up your heart. Great guest, Jim!

No new episode today had me sad. Haha
Oh how they’ve grown. Loved seeing CMA’s growth as an artist. Here’s the Letterman performance she mentioned:

I don’t have Instagram or Twitter, but damn I’d love to listen to you and Tom Delonge talk about songwriting. End of question that isn’t a question.
I second this with all of my heart 🤘🏻💯❤️
Yaaaaa
Brian Sella or Soupy would also be great!
🖤🖤🖤
Pretty funny.

I really love these episodes but I feel like they are being released *too* frequently. Content fatigued
