Uhh I am so happy about this review. I started reading the book last summer but only had the time to finish it now. It's so stunning how Zadie Smith manages to capture these many different lifestyles across her various books. I loved Levis storyline, but was quite confused about the end, it was really an anti-climax. And Kiki, as you said, is supposedly not academic but I think she is one of the most intelligent characters in this book. I love her. I think this novel is really great to dive into a different reality and the everyday lives of the characters, especially when you're sitting at home and want to escape the everyday corona life for a short moment.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this!! Yes that’s what I love about Zadie, there’s always such a wide variety of characters and perspectives!! Yeah Levi’s ending was confusing. And yes this book is perfect for escape I was so invested. That’s why I don’t mind the length of her books, nothing is wasted!

Hi I'm from Kazakhstan and I've read this book in Russian. Unfortunately, the books of Smith aren't translated to Kazakh language, so I should to read em in Russian. I was moved, cuz this book is a food for our brain. There are a lot of interesting informations and allusions, so I was in euphoria when I was reading it lol. Thank u for the video.
P.S. people, Don't hate me that I read books in Russian. I don't support Russia and their war. But I like Russian language and literature.

This was a great review. I've seen people talk about Zadie Smith, but was never interested. But now I'm curious to read her work now.

yess you should definitely check her out! Grand Union is a good book to start since it's short stories, lots of different characters and themes to get lost in :)

Very nice book review by the way. What do you think about the process of Levis mindset when he went from working in a music store to fighting for a Hatian cause ? And what do think of what Carol said to Zora that he was an experiement at her college after Zora saw him messing around with Victoria at the last party at the bus stop.
