When I first started in construction I was handed a bosch drill, liked the way it felt on my hand, liked the performance. Ever since then, I have had no problems with the brand, the tools do what I need them to do when I need them to do it, I have not been left "stranded" by them. Thus I see no need to change, my humble opinion is that you pick one brand and stick to it and forget about what, who is best because if you go that rout. . . . . there is always someone/thing better out there.

I’ve had a hilti cordless hammer drill for 7 years now, picked it up at Home Dopey while I worked there. They were getting rid of all the hilti stuff so i got it for about the price of a Milwaukee version.
Today the batts are still good, though i could tell they don’t hold as good a charge. But i beat them up, one took 120 volts, I accidentally drilled through a switch loop, it took a while to recharge but it finally did. Recently picked up some new 22v ones for 36 bucks each!! They are discontinuing the 22v ones and i was lucky enough to stop by at the right time to pick up the last three at that location. It’s like Christmas came early lol

I'll say one thing, I still have some Milwaukee batteries from my first drill I bought about 15 years ago, they have been through hell, I'm a landscape contractor in rainy England! This things are in the mud and water almost on a daily basis. Sure they are a bit tired but very impressed with that!!

  •  4 года назад +2

Unpopular comment: I use the "X20V Team" line of tools from Lidl here in Spain and I couldn't be happier. They're way more than enough for an advanced user like me (more than beginner, just not fully "professional"). I do several repairs a week on my own to win some extra cash and these tools are tough as sh*t. Their batteries last quite a lot, they're affordable and they feel pretty well built (they sure are heavy). Nothing to envy to the bigger brands, and more than perfect for a handyman like me. Considering they're in many cases a fifth of the price, I think they're a brand to consider for those who like to do some work around the house.

@@JML1987 The first generation Makita batteries got a bad reputation because they didn't have thermal protection and because the BMS board ran off one cell, so they could get discharged to far if left unused for a while. This was remedied with their star-batteries a long time ago. Some of their non-star batteries were left compatible with certain tools (with a notch in the battery socket), but could still be used on lower consumption tools. Most tool brands had some issues when they first went over to lithium. Milwaukee transitioned away from their V28 platform. Also DeWalts 28V and 36V series early lithium were abandoned.

Seems doable, though durability would take a hit with the adapter. Whether it’s 3D printed or CNC’d titanium, it’s another wear point, another set of contacts / wires (maybe circuits depending on any confusers needing to be faked, etc). I bet someone clever could make a nice one.

I worked 3 years as a millwright in extreme heat and cold. Company provided Milwaukees, I got tired of sharing them so I added to my then small dewalt arsenal. I have 8 flexvolt batteries. Not one has shit the bed, save for when one of my 60v grinders fucked up and shorted out two of the batteries. I have rode them hard, stored them hot and cold and have had no issues. Milwaukee batteries will operate in lower temps than my flexvolts, however we had Milwaukee batteries dropping like flies all the time, even the ones I carried in my truck and cared for. In my experience, the Milwaukee batteries left a LOT to be desired.

Good video and I really like the project farm stuff as well that guy has saved me hundreds if not thousands
At the end of the day I’m a DIYer and to be honest I avoid cordless
I do have drills and an impact that are cordless - real common stuff - but that’s it....
I’ve got corded Sanders and drills and angle grinders that I’ve had for 20 years still work perfectly if they were battery operated the cells would’ve leaked or gone for stale by now they would’ve changed the model then you can’t get the batteries any more I would’ve lost the charger and you can’t buy them any more something stupid
plus corded will put out power all day long and as a DIYer it’s not much of a hassle to run a cord
But if you’re in the trade in an out of the Ute all day up the ladder back in the Ute onto the next job cordless is fine because now you have a business case the tools are tax-deductible and in five years they’re buggered anyway because you’re using them every day that’s fine
but I don’t believe cordless is good for DIYers and it’s a shame to see manufacturers seem to be shifting away from corded and battery operated stuff is all that you gonna be able to get soon......

Cordless tools look nice and handy but most times you don't really need something that mobile and they all cost a lot more than the standard (plugged) equivalent. Not all the way through, i had tapped them in a HAAS, to Z-.700, tap drilled to Z-.950, so i wouldn't drill into the top of the vises. I finished tap drilling .421 dia with the Makita 18V, the i ground 3 flats on a 1/2-13 plug tap, and tapped them through with the Makita. I had 144 holes to thread, i got to about 130, when the first battery gave up, the second battery I had to keep charging about every 3-4 holes and it made it to the end. Died right after, i bought a cheesy Chinese 5.0amp/hour for $32, and 2 years later it still holds a good charge. It was worth $32.

Nice of you to say somthing nice towards project farm. you hit the nail on the head with his personality. Thanks for being kind.
Between you two guys it gives me hours of entertainment, I must say though I do really injoy your video and humor. And still to this day I use tip on indicating parts in the CNC. It save me so much money on them fancy red tip indicators. And gives the frends a real good laugh .
All around though the years it has been enjoyable viewing
    Thanks!

Love AvE, but I dont have a clue how the hell he arrived at his conclusion here, there is no way he watched this same review video. According to Project Farm, Dewalt is clearly superior in every test excluding drop durability.
Been in USAF aircraft maintenance for 20 years, and most of the shops at most of the bases I have been to use Dewalt power tools due to the tools durability. Can't tell you how many times I have seen a Dewalt power drill fall off a maintenance stand 20-30 feet in the air, hit concrete, and still operate. (I'm not exaggerating either) and the batteries chooch for a good long time when you are drilling out dozens of stuck fasteners in all kinds of weather.
    Edit: autocorrect replaced "chooch"

The Dewalt won by sacrificing battery longevity for short term performance. The faster the charge time, the shorter the battery life. The higher the charge voltage, the shorter the battery life. The lower the voltage cutoff, the shorter the battery life. Dewalt batteries are renowned for dying out faster than other brands for that fundamental reason. As for performance, that's more of a matter of how efficient the tool is more than whether or not the battery is made to last 6 or 8 years.

Ran a Shat-On Cordless Impact Driver for years, threw it around, dropped it, recharged it regularly, it never let me down, replaced the battery after about two/two and half years once it couldn’t do a days work and she’s chooching along quite happily. Thankfully my tools were paid for by my company and so long as I could make a case for a particular bit of kit then I’d just hop on the truck of shiny accoutrements and collect whatever I needed. Contrast that to my home gamer Bosch drill, it’s had irregular use over about five years and the battery can barely hold a charge and it gives up after drilling a few holes, I’m unwilling to replace the batteries as it’s not been a reliable drill. It’s on my Christmas list, let’s hope Santa hasn’t seen my behaviour behind the bike sheds with the Mrs.....

Well that kinda defeats the purpose...I could look at plenty of websites to find Hilti.

I bought my first Hilti grinder from Home Depot close to 15 years ago I guess. I haven't seen them there since then, but it got me hooked on Hilti. I've bought other brands since then but as far as corded angle grinders go no one makes one that can compete with Hilti.

Anyone here beside me a fan of Ridgid cordless tools? I've used a variety in my life, but Ridgid are the only ones I use any more. Only battery packs I've had that outlasted the charger, and they're all 18V. Great tools, too.
