As a new IDK player, I appreciate this. There's a tiny handful of videos about them, and a lot of the online info is from 3rd and boils down to "just take eels."
As someone who's collected deepkin since they came out. Honestly take whatever you want. The idk models are awesome beautiful and fun. I even love thralls especially if you build around them it can be devastating. Take whatever you want and have fun :)
Hey Rob! I love your videos. I don't actually play AoS, but I do enjoy painting the models, and I always throw your videos on to listen to while I work. I was wondering if you plan on doing an LRL army overview. I would greatly enjoy that! If I'm being a dum dum and you've already made that video, disregard this comment lol Keep up the good work!
Yeah Flesh Eater are in a Bad Spott but skilled Players get good Tournament Results and with an honest deep Dive maybe more Player get the Secret of this Army
This is a good time for the reviews, when the game is starting to settle and stabilise into a slower moving changes. (Hopefully, the dials will be turned less now.)
the allopex rocks! his shooting is enough to snipe small heroes and the +1 attack is really easy to achieve with the speed and shooting. they might be slightly too pricey but not by much
I've had some success running 2+ sharks around the turtle as a mobile shooting castle. Lots of good shooting output and a wall of teeth if they charge into you. I would recommend trying it once! Also, R.I.P. Slap King: Heaven gained another angle last June 😪
I just can't justify for myself spending points on sharks. They're more points then morsarr, slower, way worse damage, less wounds. Sure they have shooting but with low volume of attacks they miss a lot. Maybe I just don't get how to use them properly.
@@taintedchungusThat is understandable. The meta in my area includes a lot of cavalry that I can use the net launchers against to great effect. A lot of that is from S2D and Mark of Nurgle making volt spears and eels bites-1 to wound makes the shooting coming out of sharks more appealing. I also haven't had an issue hitting on 3 wounding on 2 with the shooting. Everyone I play thinks it's bullshit. I agree that on paper eels are way better, and I still run a bunch. Sharks just fit my meta better than a min sized unit of morrsarr.
Rob, I have a more generic question for you. Have you ever run a tournament or considered running a tournament but decided against it where each player brings two army lists and picks one prior to battle? I ask this because it seems like people build an army that is works against 75% of the other factions, but the other factions are an auto lose. It would be nice to have an alternate build and you might end up using other models that you don’t normally use because they are effective against the 25%, not the 75%. The Marvel Crisis Protocol method of bringing a select number of models and selecting right before the game would not work for AOS, but a second list might work. Your thoughts?
Hi, we have think about this in my club but the answer is don't do that. Do you make this within the same army ? If yes, you have some armies which can change effectively the list because their is a lots of (good) warscrolls. And you won't see fyreslayer, idoneth and all the armies with just 5/6 warscrolls (units not heros). If yes, you have to come with 4000pts (nightmare) to a tournament and you will still play the most effective warscrolls of the two index. And in any case, you have to correct more lists (nightmare). From my point of view, just having 4000pts to come with and 2lists per player to correct is bad.
The idea is to use the same faction for both lists, just to be able to swap out a hero or monster and maybe take a unit that was more shooty or more melee than the one in the primary list. Definitely not bringing 4000 points.
Maybe switch out wizards for priests, or infantry for calvary depending on which faction is the opponent. The idea is to have some flexibility. Knowing what the 10 character roster of your opponent in Marvel Crisis Protocol helps select which cards and which models you are going to use from your roster. Also it helps reduce the chance of an auto loss because you can give yourself and your opponent a fighting chance.
@@claudiaross8240 it can be interesting with your friends but I don't think that it is easy to organise in a tournament. I don't know how it works in England and US but in France when you are organising you are 2 to 3 max and even for small events it's time consuming (tables, chairs, meal, scenery, list correction, etc.). Reducing the investment of the organizing team is important or it won't last many years.
Idoneth is one of those armies I've found success with but gotten bored of because it honestly feels like I'm playing the Morbi Cunge more than I'm playing idoneth. The teleport subfaction is the best one though IMO. Extremely funny to pull off the Oops No Save combo with wave man and then shoot people with extremely rendy teleporty Archers
I hate the allopex, I hate it so much. It's ability is useless because you essentially need to pass 4 dice rolls to get it off. I'd much rather just take more eels for either the same price or less. As for the Namarti, I feel like if they axed the +1 damage to monsters and just gave em Charge (+1 damage) they could be a pretty good trade piece as a cheap and squishy blob. Finally, Aspect of the Storm imo has it's place if you are going with an eel heavy list to really get the most out of the rider weapons. Going eels + storm + tidecaster may be a decent list.
I would very much like to see your opinions on Kharadron Overlords. I am very new at this and would love to know what to do deal with Spells and Manifestations.
I really found the idoneth very boring to play. The gameplay is very rigid and only few warscrolls are really interesting. You play the same army, the same way every game...
You may not be aware Honest Wargamer Rob but there's a new Slaves to Darkness Battle tome coming! The reason you may not be aware is that GW snuck out the announcement at 6pm on a Sunday with no fanfare! It feels like they're giving up on the game tbh.
Let's sea if this video can tip the scales on deepkin representation.
Fish.
A long-awaited video, to be shore. I shell pay close attention to what Rob has to say.
We shell have to sea
timing couldn't have been more perfect. Listening to this while building my first Deepkin models!
I’ve been slowly building up an IDK army since just before 4th dropped. Really looking forward to getting the big turtle on the table!
Sad that deepkin has a smaller playerbase. Such an awesome faction all around
Always love your reviews, cant wait to hear your review of KO in the near future.
Love this, more reviews/tier lists the better, its one of the most searched terms for armies. so get all that SEO goodness
New to this game and looking at building an Idoneath Deepkin army, appreciate you dumbing this down and explaining it very well.
Thanks so much. These are my favorite faction because of their beautiful models, and this had so much valuable information.
Glad I could help!
I want more reviews to cover for the last factions in AOS

I love your tome reviews rob please keep doing them!
Thanks for this, learning to play the game with deepkin and this has really helped!
Please keep reviewing the tomes! I love your deep dives and I can't wait for your Breton-- Flesh Eater Courts review
Liked this style of review, where they have some actual table presence that wasn't there pre NH and LRL nerfs
Really appreciate your insights Rob!
Would love to see a flesh eater courts video there’s not many out
There that I’ve seen
Ok!!

Please do the faction reviews, for the other armies that are missing. I really enjoy these videos
Late but appreciated, thank you Rob
Flesh-eater court next please, I get they suck but maybe a section of that video for what would help the army

I agree
Let’s see if this deep dive makes a splash for the deepkin

Aye! My faction! Thanks Rob
As for wound depth argument. It's a 3x20 models, so worth taking if you have 3x20 units.
Deepkin go off after you do a video on them??? Would love to see you do the OBR/LRL too.
I already have too many factions but now I want to play IDK's spearhead. Love the models and lore, and feel sorry for its small player base.
Lol. Glad you are being a completionist. Does that mean there is a Bonesplitterz review in the future?😅
Why review a dead faction?
@tiananxie8897 We're not dead. We're getting better. We don't want to go on the cart..We feel happy!

1st ❤
These models are uniquely unfun to build. Everything sort of floats and the connection points are tiny.

But where is the STD review?
couldn't be arsed to do it until they got good...
Make the turtle 500pts again for the memes! How are we supposed to cost things based on turtle unit measurement if it cost 480?!

What are you even talking about? StD was announced in October preview show with a limited edition chaos sorcerer released. What else do you need?
