incredibly close match, made clearer by the fact that despite his loss Rune won 3 point more overall and had a better serve statistic. They also had pretty much the same number of winners/unforced errors. Fils just won the right points! Great game from both!
The turnaround in his mental strength over the past 12 mths is incredible. I saw him play a few times last year and he was behaving like rune, throwing his racquet around, carrying on. This tournament he has shown the mental strength of a champion.
Yeah, either he is maturing or he really respects Fils. Or both. It was great to see that side of Rune. Also despite the frustration of losing the 1st set, he came back and gave his all in the 2nd set. Very professional.
All of you people are ridiculous... Rune has shown respect to players before after close matches. He usually doesn't when there's some dort of drama between Rune and the other player.
Fils has become an absolute beast! Beating Zverev, Fritz, Shelton and now Rune!! Insane level of play!!! Definately the way to becoming top 10 in the world!😱👏🎾
Holger you did well here. Understandably you vented your temper 1st set. Still - learn to channel that anger differently. Good comeback in the 2nd breaker. Could have gone either way. Stay with it. You're on the right path. Good to see you fighting like this. Remember - all for 2025 onwards
Could be for Fils (he's truly young and has a great coach, ex Federer's one), but I don't see Rune winning a Slam, despite being very young too he got a very nasty problem with his dorsal spine last year that cannot be solved, only lived with (lots of painkillers etc.).
It's crazy how Rune hasn't been the same ever since losing to Carlos in the Wimby '23 QF; for some reason, that straight sets defeat changed him somehow, despite showing some signs of resilience every once in a while.
Was Fils robbed of a set point at 6:5 in the first set? Was the point awarded to Rune, or was it a do-over? It would seem to be unfair, if the replay showed "in," but the empire wasn't over-ruled.
He can. But not sure he will. If he can tone down on errors and be more offensive and a bit more consistency and extreme netskills he has and come in on mainly his forehand like inside out or serve and volley too plus keep working back his backhand.. keep the same team this time? If it Works i think he cant afford being so indecisive anymore. He shall break lose, find his rythm and utilize his firepower and stunning volleys way better. If so, he Will be future slam champion maybe
@@JulianHansen-l1q Being more aggressive means being less consistent. Your logic doesn't correlate here. For me personally, he simply needs to play as he did 2022 - 1st half of 2023, which was playing more defensive tennis/counter punching, but then he deals with stamina/cramping issues which lead to this more aggressive playstyle in 2024 which reduces his stamina loss, but sacrifices consistency. I also agree that he needs to use his BH more as for me. It's one of the best on tour when it's on form. I also agree with you and him being poor with shot selection at times. That's due to not having a solid team around, which leads into the other fix, and that's finding a good team and sticking with them. He had Luthi, and Boris all together at one point, but fired each one. Unless he's doing what Sinner did at the start of 2023, he'll need a solid team. All in all, he's definitely has the tools to become world Number 1 (and that's no an exaggeration), but needs to fix some holes.
Its like anything Rune did, Arthur did everything a lil bit better. Not much, but enough. Fils serve, overhead and forehand and physique and stamima also mentally will be as likely why he could be future big 3 along Carlos and Sinner as if Holger will be one of big 3 imo. Rune though. Has an extra level than Fils imo. When not getting too short in the court mainly from the backhand.. Rune should get there. But not sure when or IF he will reach that true God mode level? Fils was good but not God mode. God mode Sinner, God mode big 3 and god mode Alcaraz would won an atp 500 rather easily with this draw
I think I agree with this. Fils is an incredible player, but when Rune is on, he's basically unplayable. He has almost unlimited power, and his return game is nearly Djokovic-like. When he's on, he gives me young Andre Agassi vibes. But it seems like he can't really harness his game these days the way he did a year ago. On the other hand, Fils does nothing but win. He's improved his serve a lot since last year. And he's an all-court player. I think he's top 10 material.
Rune was a homophobe who used slurs and was beyond rude to people. He scream at his mother before the whole stadium until she left… he has emotional problems… when George was his coach, he began smiling and being nicer to opponents…I think he has skill, but not the temperament…Fils mayb a new French type-- of players, with aggressiveness along with skill.
