This is SUCH a helpful video thank you so much! I also love how you go "and we're gonna choose dynamic because we don't have money for that condenser mic, right, we're gonna play punk rock", it's true though and that kinda stuff is part of the genre, the sound just needs to be kinda dirty and crappy!

I’m learning to record and produce music For one year and I saw many tutorials and I Must to say that I learn alot today with you. Thank you! Yeah they used to give Ableton Live Lite for free with many interfaces. I think they just have a free version on their website now that you can download. It's called Ableton Live Intro.
@@JulianGrimmMusic Nice ! I hope finding as much features as you showed cause I didn't know it had an amp emulation in it. I just got a Komplete sound interface which provides the full guitar rig software for free though, in case you knew someone interested. Cheers and thanks for your answer !

Good stuff Julian! I was wondering, now that you're pretty much the only YT channel I've found who uses Ableton to create songs that aren't just pop or rap, I have a burning question I've been trying to seek the answer to for months now, and I hope you can be my savior in this regard. If I wanted to create a distorted effect on the vocals, similar to something that Jack White and Royal Blood does on some of their tracks to name a few examples, how would I go about that? Perhaps something for a future video, If I may dare to hope? Good day!

Hi, great video...Are all these functions (including simple Midi-Drums) available in the free "Ableton LITE" as well?. Its important for me, because i want to start in a few days producing very simple demos before presenting them to my bandmates.
No… unfortunately they are mostly in Ableton Suite, but yo can do a lot of stuff with ableton lite and some free plugins!
Try Steven slate drums free for drums and cypress tt-15 guitar amp sim for guitars

Can someone explain the difference between a 'double' and a backing track?
Backing track is the instrumental of your track. A double is an extra take to add a thickness to the original sound.
