are they located near you ...I keep hearing people say woodmizer has local dealer ...still not sure why this matters so much as long as you get parts delivered in timely manner

In 1998 I had a kit made sawmill ..
I welded up a 28 foot heavy deck for it and I could cut 24 foot pieces of telephone poles , oak-& etc
I am watching your video now. Just a little FYI. I have owned an HM130 for almost 2 years and milled for myself and the public the whole time. For the money, you wont find a better sawmill or BETTER service. Your mill came with the hr meter and auto lube that I did add to mine. If you EVER have any problem, all you have to do is call tech at Woodland and will get an answer and/or replacement part soon. I am glad I picked Woodland Mills over the many other brands I looked at and drove a way to see if for nothing else but their service after the sale. Enjoy your mill and be safe.

Great saw mill, had our 126 for over a year now with very little problems, 200hrs and going strong, wish we had a hydraulic mill but that will come in time, enjoy.

Hey there thanks for sharing. Woodland mills has a fantastic service department they will always help you get the blade back in the wood!! Awesome folks. I heard in the video the ting ting ting sound of the clutch when it idles. Ya might wonna turn down the idle a little tell the ting ting ting sound goes away. This will save wear on the clutch and last much longer! Thanks for sharing God bless you and yours!

i like mine. i built a rigid steel frame for under the bed rails then chopped up a 200 dollar trailer kit from northern tool to go underneath it. scaffolding leveler feet stuck into some tubing make good stabilizer/levelers for the mill. they improved the 122 quite a bit though for your model year. so some of the things i built for mine come standard on the new ones. enjoy

I watched your video earlier before subscribing and want to thank you for the thoughtful discussion about mills that are inexpensive compared to many others. I have watched vids that have $9000 mills and do an excellent job on making lumber. This amount is out of my ability so I continue to look for something that will do the job and I can afford. I appreciate your video for this advice and will continue to watch as you progress toward your dreams.

My dad had a old frick with 100 hp diesel power unit. 54 inch saw. 5000 board ft a day. But band mills cut so much cleaner. No saw curfs. And he bout worked me to death. Lol. God bless him

I like Harbor Freight Tools because I can afford them. Sure, I have to do a little Mig welding, maybe machine a few extra parts to get them to work properly but I CAN AFFORD THEM! I was about to leave a snarky comment about you forgetting to mention it costs double the Harbor Freight model but checked the HM122 and it's pretty close in price! Why would anyone buy the Harbor Freight model???

I bought a booster pump from Harbor Freight. (WE have a well, that's higher then the house). I spent my time returning and replacing the pump. The last time, I didnt even take it out of the box. I was tired.

We have had the same model for the last 3 months and have not been disappointed. We have gone through some blades ofcourse and just got new guide bearings and the following drive belt ordered. We use this mill just about every day. We bought the extension because we need to be able to do longer logs. Also your blades will last much longer if you peel or brush the dirt from them before sawing.

Quality is in the details. It looks much more substantial in build also. Looking at it I bet you could add longer runners to cut longer logs easily.

I have a HM122 I got in 2017, been a great little mill, I've cut a lot of lumber with it over the years and the only problem I've had was the kolher engine died horribly recently and I replaced it with a HF Predator engine that seems to have better torque than the Kohler. I did replace the plastic lube tank with a steel tank and installed an hour meter.

You made a good choice woodland mills, I've had mine for about a year now and have had no problems with at all. It's a great saw. I can't even begin to tell you how many board feet I've sawn.

Great go around.... I wondered about wheels on various models rolling over the saw dust filled tracks... The wire works and could be added to a lesser model... I'll have to look closer at how some other models work

I’ve had mine now since either 2013 or 14 I’m not sure and still zero problems ! In fact the only problems I’ve had I caused them 🤫
One bonus the woodland mills has over many of the competition, the prices favourably compare. Woodland Mills is generally lower in price for everything compared to the other brands, quality wise, they stand up right beside the higher priced brands.
I've also noticed Woodland mills has a simple track extension method, split the middle of your existing and put as many extensions as you want in between. same connections for them and as good a quality fit.
You can also add extra dogs to help secure the logs against the uprights better. The optional cable winch log loader I've seen electric screwdrivers (drills ) power logs onto a mill, making the work much lighter.
If you were to get into doing custom cut lumber for sale, the extra length possible is a big bonus.
While adding any of these would cost some, the cost is lower for Woodland Mills than the comparable quality mills.
We could really use another bed section it was a tight fit on our log. We actually cut the logs to 10'4 so we had extra for squaring the ends.
@@ThirdTimeAroundRanch If you get it I would also get a second clamp just for the extra security knowing the log isn't going to move under the blade.

I bought a hm 126 it's a great mill. The crank lost its roll pin and they got a new one to me super fast with no hassle.

That is a nice saw mill and cuts good. I have the HM 126 and love it. I know it's been 2 years but I bought a hand held metal detector and I use it on every tree before I start to mill it. I have found more nails and spikes where they were left in the tree after something was taken down or fell off a tree. Even barbed wire that a tree grew around. You sure don't want that blade to hit something metal. Seen it happen a couple of times to a friends mill and destroyed his blade.
Is there a hand held detector that you reccomend?
@@ThirdTimeAroundRanch I have a Brinks security handheld that I have been using for a few years. It's similar to what they use in a airport to check you with. I hate to say it but my brother picked up a 15 or 20 dollar handheld he got from Harbor Freight and he said it worked just fine. He has found a few small nails with it. Hope that helped.

I bought a new woodland mills HM 126 (9.5 Kohler) 6 years ago this Sept. I have used it quite a bit to mill white pine lumber from my plantation as I thin it and also to a lesser degree for white cedar and various hardwoods ( ash, cherry, hard maple and white oak). it has performed very well for me with minimum maintenance issues and great customer/technical support from Woodland mills. I highly recommend this company and no, I am not sponsored by them or receiving anything from them other than the same level of quality and service they seem to give every customer (or so the reviews/comments I have read seem to indicate).
They do seem to be a great company, and we are loving the mill!

To get a full 1 inch board I have to allow an extra 1/8 for the thickness of my blade. Nice mill👍

So, im sure you're gonna be careful 'ruler-wise' , if using both your self-milled lumber and 'industry standard' stock: "That means a 1 x 4 board is actually 3/4 inches by 3 1/2 inches. The larger 1x boards (1x8, 1x10, etc.) lose 3/4 inch in width. That means a 1x10 is actually 3/4 inch in thickness by 9 1/4 inches." (thanks to 'easywoodshop.com' ..

Lot better saw. Saw were one guy replaced the rails with one piece from his local metal yard. Another guy had the locking handles. I've heard it called horrible freight, but they're working on improving quality to get more customers. Thanks for sharing.
We actually like to shop at harbor freight, we just know that the quality isn't as good.
They are not tools to make a living from , they are hobby and throw away. Who ever the lady is she doesn’t know what metrics are inches and CM

I have several Woodland Mills products and have had varied experience. Purchased their MultiLander trailer and the Chinese steel used to make the tongue bent. Took months to get the replacement part as almost all of their components are made in China.
Great review, I have been looking at both mills for our farm... and its become clear the Woodland is far better for only a little extra money !!
You are correct, the Woodland is very worth it.
I have a hm126. I had a problem with a bad clutch. I burned it up because the throttle was not set properly. I am confident from the sound of your mill that your throttle is also not set to full power on the motor thus overworking the clutch. It will soon burn up. Play with your cable, that motor will really rev when set correctly and the clutch will not slip. Of course I may be wrong, I'm only hearing this on a cell phone! By the way WM sent me a new one. Love the mill hope you do too.
Interesting, we also thought the same thing so we called WM and they told us how to adjust the cable to make sure it was at full throttle. We adjusted it as far as we could get the cable to move. Maybe we will give them another call. We absolutely LOVE the mill!
How do you maintain width of boards when the cable pulley starts to double up on the pulley?

I have the 26 inch woodlander from them, and I can tell you you'll be happy with yours. Don't think that 30cc extra on the Chinese motored HF saw would give you more torque than a Kohler; you'll also always be able to get parts!

I was going to get a harbour Frieght mill but decided to get a woodland mills because I couldn't get a answer on how to get replacement blades and belts and I had already heard about manufacturing defects in the H.F. mills. Looks like I made a good choice.

May i suggest you buy a cheapmetal detector. It always helps to do a little NDT before you start, only takes a minute and can potentialy save you $ for replacement blades. It's surprising what finds it's way into a tree as it grows. Good luck with your endavours.
I’m a first time viewer of your channel. The Woodland Mills is probably going to last you a good while. Another RUclipsr, The Outsider, is building a log cabin in the Canadian wilderness and he bought a Woodland Mills and loves it. He soon after bought the extension that turns it into a wheeled trailer which has a huge benefit of it always being level as long as the trailer’s three points are level (wheels and hitch) which allows a lot more flexibility and length of logs too. As far as I can tell Woodland Mills is made in China but the company is definitely North American based. They just use China as a maker which is far different than everything being Chinese.

Harbor Freight can be a source for reasonable bargain tools (Their Hercules line is particularly high quality), but you can pretty much abandon any hope of getting parts or help if something goes awry.
How much was it? And how much space does it take up? We are building a cover for a rainwater collector and may as well try to do double duty! Thanks for the video..)
I also bought the HM122 as my retirement gift to my self. Upgraded to the 9.5 motor and the extra track extensions and the five pack of blades . This was their 10 anniversary model. I had to wait almost three months to get because when i bought it Covid19 hit and their was no shipping . Woodland has a distribution warehouse in Portland Or. so pick it up there as I'm close. I had some problems as the blade came off ruin one new blade never touch any wood. Called Woodland and service walked me through realigning the wheels. Once that was done has worked like a charm. They didn't replace the blade :( I have cut Fir, Alder and Maple so far and I love this mill so far still trying to figure out the scale this confusing to me but that might just be me... great ivestment for the $3000 I spent looking for more than a year
I'm STILL trying to figure the scales out. It's different for every size you want to cut. If I cut a 4x4 using the same scale as the 1x's then it cuts something like 4 3/4. It is confusing.
I had first considered buying a harbor freight sawmill too. I was more fortunate than you were , because this was a huge investment for me I did my research and watched videos on all name brand sawmills. One of which was the woodland hm122 sawmill. After watching the videos that woodland makes on all their saws and comparing the costs I ordered their HM122 sawmill. I'm not pressed for time so I just ordered the 7 hp so cutting speed wasn't an issue for me and I wasn't planning on any logs larger than 20 inch diameter. So i figured the extra money would be better spent on the track extension because I knew I would want to cut 12' boards and woodland ships anything extra added to their order for no extra costs. I wish I could've afforded it & I would've also ordered their blade sharpener/ setter cumbo. But that will have to wait. I did order the extended track, some extra blades & some bearings. They won't ship it until nov 30th, 2021 which is giving me time to cut down some trees. Most my trees that are on my property are black walnut so I hope full in selling some of my walnut boards to pay for my sawmill. My trees are in the range of 16-12 inch in diameter. Keeping them a little over 12' is just about my little JD 2305 tractor's limit for lifting and hauling up a fairly steep hill. I only guessing but I'd say they weigh over 600 lbs. Lately I've been watching quite a few of your videos, sawing with sandy & lumber jack. Learning a lot before my mill arrives. I just finished building a platform for my sawmill. Using my tractor & my 6" post auger, drilled 10 holes, 3' deep, arranged 10- 5' long 4x4 for 2 tracks 26" wide and 20' long. Leaving 2' of the 4x4 above ground. After concrete set I used my laser to mark all 4x4 posts at the same level, and cut them off. I used 4x6 posts instead of the 4x4 for the center posts because I planned on using 10' 4x4 posts bolted on top of my posts which the sawmill tracks will set on. This will put my mill just a little over a foot off the ground. They sell a cover for the mill but was a bit pricey. So until I can get a roof built over it I'll have to keep it covered with a tarp. If you haven't invested in a blade sharpener you might look at woodland mills combo for just under $1000.00. Hopefully you're saving your old blades. They say they can be sharpened up to 5 times. At roughly $25 a blade it won't take long to pay for itself. That will be my next big purchase. I bought 10 extra blades, if I was able to sharpen them all 5 times that turns them into 50 blades @ $25 a blade that comes to $1250. I figure cutting walnut boards, I'll probably be going through quite a few blades. I believe I'll pressure was my logs to remove any dirt or debris that might dull my blades. Wow, you did your homework better than we did. Great job! We have our blades sharpened by a company near us for $8 per blade. We wont be putting much more money into ours as we don't really plan on keeping it super long term. We have already made our money back on it by cutting our own lumber for our builds. When we have everything built that we need/want there wont be much reason for keeping the mill. We can't seem to get our hands on any good hardwood around here.
Now to compare it with a Woodmizer? Fall Line Ridge has used 4? of them and is currently using their LT15. And he's in your area.
