Third Time Around Ranch

Добавлен 10 сен 2019
After many years of "just making it" we have decided to try to become more self sufficient and debt free. We love to hunt and fish so we have already been supplying ourselves with "some" of the meat that we eat but growing a garden has always just been for the fun and enjoyment of it. It was never meant to actually supply us with all the fruits and veggie's we eat. Join us on our new adventure of building debt free, growing and canning fruits and veggie's and raising animals for meat and dairy.

Welcome to the Third Time Around Ranch. After living in the country most of our lives we still felt like something was wrong. We kept talking about getting back to the basics of life and taking care of ourselves like our great grandparents did. So instead of depending on stores for everything, we bought some land in Alabama where we intend to build debt free on a fixed income and become as self sufficient as we possibly can. We are happy to have you join us as we carve out a new way of life for ourselves and our youngest son.

good video and job you are right building out of wood would have been faster. take care, be safe and well.
good vid. keep us posted
good video and job i am sorry there is a lot wrong they sent you roof screws its a mess.
I think you need to do companion planting in your tunnel you should be able to grow everything you need marigolds the horn bug don't like marigolds
My garden here in Missouri isn't doing good either. No cucumbers no tomatoes. No green beans just corn and not very much of that. Your house is coming along I haven't been able to start on mine prices for stuff is so high. Keep up the good work you guys are getting there.
I'm sorry to hear that your garden is as bad as mine, hopefully as things cool off the gardens will do better.
Tomatoes like dappled light - they grow better under shade cloth and out of full sun. They're native to forested south american climate - specifically the Andes Mountains , in the northern climates where we don't have such a long hot growing season they tend to do quite well , but the tomatoes I grow in big pots on back porch (south eastern exposure and shaded part of the day by trees or the house) do far better than the tomatoes we keep out in the full sun garden. I want to get a hoop house myself for our back yard garden for tomato growing (Taters do phenomally, though) which I plan to cover the hoop house in shade cloth that lets rain in to water the garden while keeping the pants from full hot sun..
Interesting, I had no idea that tomatoes were native to forested areas. For some reason I assumed they liked full sun. Guess I should not assume things and do more research.
Banana peppers
They look like it don't they?
Just a quick comment to say I appreciate your posts and your honesty about you and your family's situation. Keep on going on and you will get there.
Thank you
I hope that all goes well for you and your family. I have been watching your channel for a little while and have come to appreciate your values and dedication to make it happen.
Thank you so much!
Capture and test the pH of your rain water. Maybe a bit acidic???
👍👍
Thank you very informative.
good video and job my guess is holes are for diff. green house. i don't think the people that wrote instuctions ever built one. take care, be safe and well.
Another "notch in the tool belt". Looks good to Me. Can't wait to see what you tackle next . (An-tic-ipa-tion...) 😊 👍👍👍
Thank you Jay!
Why no new videos ???
I just finished putting out videos on building our hoophouse, did you not see them?
@@ThirdTimeAroundRanch no sorry
@@michaelkoon8371 That's ok, if you hit the notification bell you'll get notified when I put out a new video. Sometimes youtube messes with your notifications and you have to reset them.
good video and job yes it's hard to get everything right. if you built them up north you will need to take plastic off in winter one winter here all the green houses that were not heated caved in. take care, be safe and well.
lol i see Tiny is supervising again
He's just like any other supervisor I've had. Constantly checking up on me to make sure I'm doing things his way. LOL
Well done, you made an excellent job of it. It certainly looks big..worth it after all the hard work you put into it. Looking forward to see what you plant in it. Thanks for the video.
Thank you very much!
👍👍
I am surprised at the low horsepower. I have the Frontier OS31 and a Kohler 14 horsepower and that is barely adequate. If the motor ever fails I would definitely up to at least 20hp. Also. You need to get that mill up to crotch height. All that jumping up and down adds to the workload and time. My trailer was expensive but all the jumping up and down and crawling under just made me realize it was worth it. Good luck and eat your Wheaties!
👍👍
I wonder if the woman on the phone would have talked down to you if you were a man. She may have unconsciously assumed you didn't know what your were taking about because she, herself, didn't.
Its probly too late now, but sometimes when my bolt is too long I cut a short block of wood and bore a hole in it and use it for a spacer.
Hang in there. You WILL PERSEVERE!!! Sorry to see you having to come up with "work arounds" for what was represented to be an easy to assemble, all parts included Hoop House. Most of us have to deal with "phone (non) support" people, frequently with an accent that is difficult to understand, who know nothing except what the script on their computer tells them. Many times, after listening to the script being repeated with nothing helpful forthcoming, I just give up and hang up. Then to rub salt into the wound I get an email requesting a positive review. Guaranteed they don't want to hear what I have to say...
I know where you are coming from, you speak to a complete dimwit, who only answers the phone, has no knowledge of the product they sell, as helpful as a chocolate fireguard. Got your hard earned cash, could not give a sh... I have dealt with companies like that and get as angry and frustrated as you have. You have got the know-how to put it right, I have seen you do far more complicated projects than this... stuff em and do it your way. (complain to one of the directors) about the way you were treated... love the video's thanx.
Thank you :)
You go girl give them hell she is kin to biden lol. I'm from alabama to, I live about 50 miles west of Birmingham
Progress is being made... I agree with OregonOldTimer, that Gorilla Tape is probably the best.
the hoop house is looking fine,I also like the onions!
Thank you
👍👍
Best duct tape I've found for longevity is Gorilla Tape. Worst I've found is Duck Tape.
I have this chipper as well and love it but a couple things I would suggest are gloves and hearing protection. Stay safe.
Good to see you post, again. (With tongue in cheek, he says - "I was about to initiate a 'welfare check' to find out what happened to you guys.") I do understand how "life gets in the way". (example": I finally comment - a week later.) The garden area is looking good. The Hoop House is going to be a life changer. How's things going with the Barndominium?. Inquiring mind wants to know. Y'All take care 'cause we care and post when you can... ❤
Thank you. We had some medical scares that kept us away but things are getting back to normal around here.
@@ThirdTimeAroundRanch Normal is good.
Thats going ro be great, you will probally need to instal some watering automation.
A watering system will definitely be needed since the plants wont get any rain.
👍👍
Thank you Thomas, good to see you

Pray that y'all are okay, figured y'all are very busy . Just take care and see you soon! ❤❤❤😊
Hope all is well.
I, for one, am missing the updates. Hope all is well...
The more the blade is dull the slower you have to push and smooth
What the use Colby chees
Yes, the closer your blade guides to the wood, the less drift you get.
Build a cover over mill will help with the heat.
You lost your pitch lead on you saw, resharpen and re pitch your blade blade
good video and job yes wire grass is the worse thing you can have it will grow in cracks in cement. round up will slow it down the only thing that will kill it kills the land to years before any thing will grow back. take care, be safe and well.
Love your channel ma’am
Wow, that's alot of lumber. Enjoyed the personality/ humor
Funny

Hi.wonderful and beautiful chicks . How much is one egg?pliz could you pliz give me the contacts where to buy those eggs.
Kumquats make great marmalade. That thorny sprout from the lemon rootstock is a sucker. The peach tree sprouts should fruit a lot of small clingstone peaches that are great for pickling, but not tasty fresh.
Thanks for the info, I'm confused about the peach tree, are you talking about the bushy one?
@@ThirdTimeAroundRanch I’m referring to the tree that died back to the ground. The sprouts are coming up from the rootstock, which is generally from a heirloom clingstone. Sorry for the delayed response.
