    For those of you that saw this briefly yesterday, this is a reupload. The reason is, I ran into a nasty issue with the upload that led to 30 seconds of footage being corrupted. I spent most of last night and some time today re-uploading the video with various settings to fix this issue.
    Thanks for your patience, and thanks for 100 k subs!

    Just to convey how amazing this achievement of passing 100k subs is, I ran a purely KSP channel for about 3 years. I believe I got to around 40,000 subs before switching to a new form of content. The fact that you have over doubled that in a time when KSP viewship has had fairly continual decline, has been freaking incredible. Congrats mate. We need to see that Silver play button!

When you went to Duna on electric power with that insane space drone trebuchet I found the bell and went back to watch what I had missed. I eagerly clicked on the interplanetary helicarrier when it came in my notifications and I watched wide eyed like I used to watch the Olympic games as a child. Arrakeen City and the light speed mass driver both blew my mind, and now you've finally hit 100K as I knew you would. I have an idea for you to build! There is Atlantis from Stargate - it is a high-tech city that can fly through space, but most the time it is just a floating base. Build it for flying to another planet! If you want to see how it looks, watch the end of 20th series in season 3 and the end of 2nd series in season 4 and the intro of any series (Stargate Atlantis is the full title of TV series).

    Obscure video pro tip: Red lines on video always look pixelated, due to the way it's being encoded (Y'CbCr 4:2:0 - meaning that color pixels are 2x2 pixels large, and red's Y value is kinda close to black). Colors with Y=100% (yellow, cyan, magenta, green) and any shade of grey (which just use smaller pixels) tend to look much nicer.
    In each case: That was an awesome video! And congrats on 100k subs!

      Thanks! That is good to know.
      Is this something I can fix, or is this on RUclips's side? I will admit, I didn't care that much about video quality after I saw 5-6 uploads fail from what I'm assuming is too high bitrate. This video came out at crf 22 and I just uploaded it to make it work.

    • @LeoWattenberg
      @LeoWattenberg 3 года назад

      @@Stratzenblitz75 This is something you can't really fix with codecs; RUclips will mercilessly convert it back to 4:2:0 (and most other platforms, too).
      This is something though you can take into consideration when designing your scenes and overlays - I love the idea of handwritten notes pointing out things, maybe exchanging the red handwriting directly on the screen with, for example, post-it-notes that get slapped onto it might look nice and transport the same vibe/meaning.
      As for your failing uploads, I'm not sure why that happened, RUclips should eat anything as long as you stay below 128 GB. If you care about this enough to investigate it further, feel free to hop over into the official RUclips Gaming discord, I can typically be found there.

    Isn't it quite inefficient to have such a massive fireball following your ship? - like at 2:15
    i see lot of youtube kerbals do that, with an imo gravity turn performed too early.
    or does it simply not matter at that altitude?

    • @Stratzenblitz75
      @Stratzenblitz75  3 года назад

      Drag losses are typically much less significant that gravity losses, so generally you want to take the shallowest profile possible without overheating.
      Also, since the ascent is done in one burn, I need to take a shallow profile to make sure it doesn't go too high. Hitting an apoapsis of 70-80km requires this kind of shallow approach.
      Even going a bit steeper can get you up to 200-300 km, which means you start losing out on oberth effect on your Eeloo transfer burn.

    • @Xingmey
      @Xingmey 3 года назад

      @@Stratzenblitz75 ah thx.
      I played kerbal back in 2013 and the first guide i read was go to 2000 m and have 120 m/s there, and 130 at 3000 m and so on, hitting 200 m/s at 10 km and then going into the gravity turn to get your orbit circular at about 100 km apoapsis. Worked well for me so far for my spaceships.
      I haven't played much since 2015, so i might have missed some changes on the aerodynamics update and so on.
      So thx for the explanation :)
      love your choice of music btw

    • @Stratzenblitz75
      @Stratzenblitz75  3 года назад

      @@Xingmey Thanks! yea that would explain it. The old aerodynamic model favored much steeper approaches like this since the drag was much higher. With the new aerodynamic model, you can get the drag of your craft extremely low and so now shallow approaches tend to be more efficient.

    By the way, this is probably too late at this point given KSP2, but you can actually bind SRB thrust limiter to main throttle, and you get (somewhat janky, it has a sort of "spool-down" period) control over SRB throttle. You can also push a heatshield into place to cut off SRBs early, so you can do precision maneuvers without having to plan around the dV that SRBs have
