Met Mike yesterday at OPT. He was very knowledgeable and very excited about the product. I even picked one up for myself. Seems like a great product so far, looking forward to using it in the field.
I was thinking about getting some of these until I saw that the replacement filters are nearly twice the price of the 3M filters. You're looking at $30 for a single pair of dust filters, and $50 for the organic vapor cartridges, at least in Canada.
Do you just switch any of the availible filters into the same respirator when needed? I cant tell if we are to purchase multiple respirators depending on the job at hand or whether all types filters are interchangable??
I use the half mask although it supposed to fit under my welding hood it doesn’t ,for some reason my welding hood pushes the mask in to my face and it hurts my nose.
For the level of protection (P100) and low profile these are hard to beat. This will be harder to talk through than a disposable N95 paper mask of course if you are talking to a class but probably less muffled than some of the larger bulkier half masks. Smaller group conversations on the jobsite, even with lots of background noises, these have had no issues reported from our customers.
I'm 13 so i'm worried about what mask to get as I want to be safe from harsh chemicals ill be using I'm getting into the screen printing business and I need to reclaim my screens and the chemicals are extremely strong, also doing alot of paint jobs.. Would this protect well and filter everything?

The masks come standard with P100 filtration which filters out 99.97% of particulates. @@2012isRonPaul it is a gas, fume is a term to describe gas, smoke, or vapor that smells strongly or is dangerous to inhale. As for the welding mask, you would want to decide what kind of protection each mask offers and decide what works for the job at hand.
Yes they will! Our safety director Mike Luna also suggests looking into Nuisance filters from GVS to replace the ones that come with the P100 mask for additional safety and protection from fumes; you can find those at the link here: www.ohiopowertool.com/categories/safety-personal-protection-equipment-ppe/respirators-face-masks/gvs-elipse-p100-nuisance-odor-twin-replacement-filters-for-spr449-456-551-552-masks-spr450
What about the OV/P100 mask? Am I correct in understanding that those protect you just as well against asbestos but also more things like vaours? Can any inward leakage happen through the exhalation valve?
There have been a couple of reports about exhalation valves leaking, but it appears the incidents were isolated and most likely caused by faulty products. You are correct in your understanding; the P100 is rated for vapours up to 5000ppm!
Yes, the Elipse P100 Organic Vapor Half Mask (SPR467) works for welding jobs! They protect against metal fumes and dust in confined space, and gas welding.
Great question! The P100 Nuisance and the Elipse P100 NIOSH Organic Vapor Half Mask are both rated to protect against welding and grinding fumes. You can find all their recommended masks for welding here: www.gvs.com/en/catalog/?application=welding-and-grinding
There is a chart about 3/4 the way down the page that shows the different options that are best for welders. They have a few, so I am sending the link. news.ohiopowertool.com/gvs-respirators/
What safety glasses would you recommend with these (woodworking)? The glasses I have sit too high on the nose making them useless (I have the mask but without the goggles)
I might suggest the Pyramex H2MAX. I also would say for the best anti fog, the brass knuckle are pretty great. But the gasket might be better on the Pyramex. I'm not so sure about the affordability. Where I live you can get a pack of replacement dust filters for a 3m respirator for $17. The same filters for the GVS dust mask are $27 from Lee Valley, and the organic vapor ones are $50 vs. $28 for the 3M cartridges. They cost nearly twice as much, making the GVS by far the most expensive option I've seen.
Ahoy Captain! These masks definitely aren't for everyone; I've got pretty long hair and the straps get all tangled up in it, making it an absolute nightmare to put on and an even worse one to take off. Personally, I'd go with a different style of mask, but that's also not to say these ones are bad by any stretch! They're incredibly well built, and the seal is near perfect (though moustaches and facial hair do tend to get in the way occasionally). Safety is the name of the game though, so as long as you've got a mask that works for you, that's the most important part!
3m quick release is the best industrial grade working respirator imo. This gvs is tiny, and I got the biggest size. The mask is stiff and doesn't seal well to my face, and I do not trust the seal in the exhaust vent. On the bright side, it is very light, and for the amateur occasional user with a small face, it might work fine.
The Elipse 100 mask would be a great option for you! There is both half mask and full mask styles depending on how much facial protection you need. But these will protect you from dust particles and metal fumes if you're going to be soldering or grinding down materials.
I like the gvs elipse mask, I've got two of them at the moment, but as a construction site sprayer, once you've got the a2p3 filters on you literally cant see anything below eye level and it's pretty dangerous when you're blind below your nose. Good quality, good price, terrible design.
GVS is garbage. After some time the "elastomeric" material breaks down and becomes oily. Nothing will stop it from happening. Do yourself a BIG favour by purchasing a 100% pure silicone facepiece. Several manufacturers don't tell you what they use even if it IS pure silicone, so do your research Carefully.
@David O’Banion Do you mean the face seal breaks down? I mean I own this mask. I wore it a few time when Covid hit. But I have 2 of the 3M silicone respiratory masks as well. Super comfortable and breathable!
@@hertechprep The entire thing seems to slowly self-destruct. On both of mine the seal split at the chin. Plus, the straps have short-lived elastic. It's really disappointing because it is a good shape and light in weight. In spite of the bulk, I went back to a regular half-mask, a Honeywell 7700, with P100 filters, and that is what I will recommend from now on.
@@hertechprep I have never tried a 3M, so I can't say it's better or worse than anything else. I decided on Honeywell because that brand offers 100% silicone, whereas some others don't.

Yes hexavalent chromium gas. Cr(VI) fumes are highly toxic and can damage the eyes, skin, nose, throat, and lungs. They are carcinogenic as well.
