I own the same mask but difficult to see how it could provide any protection from covid-19 where the centre valve has no filter where the valve lets in air when you breathe out. The valve actually opens up by 3-4mm which seems really weird. The other problem I have with it is the build up of moisture and the spray effect when it reaches saturation.
It will help you from getting a disease, possibly but YOU ARE RIGHT! This is not a good mask for protecting others around you. You make a great point a out the condensation and aspiration.
The centre "exhalation" valve seals as you breathe in, but opens up as you breathe out, that's how they all work. However it will offer no protection to anyone around you, should you become infected, as the air you breathe out is unfiltered.
Air cannot enter where you exhale. The force of your exhalation will push air out, it cannot come in at the same time. The way it could protect you from COVID-19 is that the P100 filters can possibly trap some of the viruses before they enter your airway.
ImperiusRex Have you tried that? First off, there is no need to put tissue or anything else on the exhalation valve. Coronavirus cannot enter this mask through the exhalation valve. Secondly, it will hinder the flow of exhaust causing CO2 and heat to increase inside the mask. Third, the paperwork included with the mask specifically and clearly states to NOT modify the mask or use any components in it that are not specifically made for the mask. So when you pass out after blocking your exhalation valve, you’ll have no one to sue but yourself.
