- After a warm and quiet start, the winter of 2023/2024 looks to come roaring to life for the first time. Two storm systems could bring rain, ice and snow to the mid-Atlantic and northeast. A storm system next week could bring rain, ice and snow to parts of the Upper Midwest and Great lakes region.

Have a very good feeling about New York City this weekend I can feel it in my bones :-)
I think on average we can Bank on 6 in with some places getting about eight depending on where a heavier band might line up.
Regardless even if these things slide off to the East New York City still at least is guaranteed a few inches of snow and that is still going to be a few inches more than we had all last year:-)
I really don't buy into that second storm to be honest it looks so humongous I think a lot of people who are expecting snow are going to be upset as they will just get a cold nasty heavy rain.
The place is not from west of the low will get drilled.
Don't think Chicago gets the snow!
Never mind I'm going to go crazy and be like Oprah you get a snowstorm and you get a snowstorm and you get a snowstorm!

You, as well! Winter has already started in earnest. New Year's morning I was outdoors exercising, and it was brutal. I was bundled up with gloves and everything. I'm walking and laboring. Well, more laboring than walking than walking. Then, it happened! One of my shoes came untied. So, I had !stop and take my gloves off in order to tie my shoe. I continue to attempt to do some sort of exercise. Well, then my other shoe comes untied. So, I have to stop, and tie the other shoe. FinY, I managed to walk three miles. Now, they say it's gonna get colder. I need some serious prayer!

Well winter is not happening in Ohio this year don't believe what you guys say anymore thought the pattern was going to change to cold and snowy for January it is no different than what December has been.

Same here in Arkansas... we got snowm but December storms rolled in and tornadoes broke out next door in Tennessee. This weather is very scary. They aren't prepared for us. We really need to prepare this year. It's been rough since last year and ain't changed. Like everyday there is some crazy stuff happening . Lots of Love and Prayers to all.

Hopefully, late January fixes that. I don't see two whole years of no snow happening, especially with an El Nino. If it was another LA Nina, then yeah, it would probably be snowless.
For the same reason that the dog days of summer are in late July, the snowiest and coldest days are in late January. The seasonal lag between the solstice is about a month due to water's slower absorption and release of heat versus air and ground.
I rather have rain instead of snow anytime. No shoveling for me.
