Scrap Wood Hand Rail DIY

- In this video I make a hand rail out of scrap timber for one of my elderly neighbours. She'd told me that her mother had fallen down her stairs heading into her property and asked me what I could do. I essentially raided what scrap I had and whipped something together. The how to build this handrail is that I based the angles on the existing fall of the stairs, and the uprights to match the widths of the existing timber. I've got tiny hands, so based the thickness of the handrail to match what I find comfortable and put a bevel on it for aesthetics. Pocket holes and glue was enough to bring it all together, I also put some lateral support within the planter box under the soil to ensure it was sturdy (lost that footage unfortunately). I'd wanted to keep the fixings hidden and achieved this quite easily with glue and internal screws, although it wouldn't have been offensive to have a few big screws visible in this build.
I'd decided I wanted this to be my entry into the Aussie Makers summer challenge #dustyflipp22 It's not the most exciting of builds, although in many respects it's a life changing project and speaks largely to what I love most about this hobby. Being able to use scrap wood, already owned tools, a bit of skill, imagination and some sundries i've made some positive change to someone in my neighbourhood.
If by some chance you've found this video and need to make something similar and have any questions call out, I get back to everyone eventually.

Hello Sam,
Good idea for your neighbor. You have also evaluated the scrap timbers. A beautiful scarecrow. I do not delete the camera recording before the broadcast is over. I advise. But the job you did was good. Congratulations. Your neighbor was also happy. Thank you for sharing the details. All the best. See you mate.
Hi Mehmet, thank you for watching :) I've managed to delete the end to what is 3 build videos, so far as I can work out! Never mind!! Hope you're well, take care

That rail was a good deed and well made too. Sorry you lost some footage, it is a fear of mine I try not to delete from the camera until after it is published so I have some sort of backup.
Cheers mate! I lost quite a bit, all on a hard drive, and basically the ends of 3 projects I've been doing simultaneously, doh! Hope you're well
