Let me know what you thought of Thomas Cook in the comments. Have you flown with them? What did you think? Don’t forget I’m now uploading on Thursdays too - did you see last Thursday’s? m.ruclips.net/video/VIU6KA8sLzc/видео.html Happy Easter to all my subscribers. Have a good one.
Paul's Trip Reports I flew on TCX last in 2014 on a week old A321 from NCL-AYT and back. I liked it, better than Jet2! Not sure about whether they are better than TUI
I flew with Thomas cook back in 2003 and had a brilliant experience. On time in both directions. Great service. Awful turbulence on the way home but the staff were amazing at keeping us all calm and smiling.
You should do a Scottish Isles tour with Loganair, Flybe and Eastern Airways if you get the chance! Will let you fly some rarer aircraft, visit some more 'obscure' airports and of course let you see some amazing scenery!
I have very fond childhood memories of Thomas Cook. Them and Thomson where the airlines who always took me and my family on holiday when I was only a kid. Very sad that they’re gone now.
Charter airlines actually have some of the sturdiest products out there and are usually the most consistent with their service offering. The crews are usually upbeat and motivated and they are considered to be some of the best looked after when in comparison to their colleagues at most low cost and scheduled carriers. As far back as you look, UK charter / holiday airlines have been at the forefront of economy class service offerings. I think the "image" that some people have made of them is simply because of their all economy configurations and lack of a business class type service... Now look at where the majority of so called "full service" and scheduled airlines have headed...
Back in 2015, I went to Antalya from Newcastle international in the Thomas Cook Airbus A321. It was a great flight! Great food, comfort and the leg space is good. Mind, that was 5 ours in economy class. I always recommend Thomas Cook if you’re going in economy class!
Just spoke to a man who took the 1st flight, he said it was hard going but worth not having to change planes and the dreamliner made the trip bearable, he also said the captain came through the cabin and causally spoke to the passengers which was nice.
Hello Paul i fly with thomas cook on Tuesday to Greece an its my first time flying and watching your videos has helpted me calm my nurves for flying I love your vidoes and never miss any of them keep up with the Amazing videos =) =)
It’s quite a few years since i flew with Thomas cook (I’m using them in2020 for Bulgaria) but everything you just had, plus the suitcases plus the colouring books and crayons for the kids, were in with the flight price, its crazy you have to pay to take your clothes with you! Times changed!!
The price of economy plus is pretty good, especially when I consider that one can of magners is £4. Include the meal and extra leg room and it's adds up to a very reasonable price
Great videos, I subscribed a few weeks ago and now I'm hooked! Train traveller here - have travelled all over the world and of course have to fly some of the bits in between! Find some of the things in your reports really useful - keep posting the vids!
Weight distribution can be a reason for some of the rows being full. That's also the reason planes are often filled up from the center. Was row switching allowed? From where I'm sitting that looked like a very decent experience. Well done Thomas Cook!
I was there yesterday and everyone arrives at the same time for departures , airport is jam packed for a couple of hours, and the windows are still dirty!
I paid £50 for an upgrade to premium with Tomas Cook A330 from Cape Town to London ( off season ) - worth every penny , much better than the BA premium
It's nice to see another very good trip report from you. The seat in the front row had very good legroom. The entertainment system is a joke but it seems to me that the Thomas Cook service is quite good. The crew were obviously also extremely friendly.
Thanks for the sharing. Comparing with hundred of trip report videos, I like how Paul is so precise and pay attention almost to everything, makes you be in the video , whenever you are in the world. I look forward for some Scandinavian airlines like SAS...and even Air France why not Paris- L.A. in A- 380, which I saw a French video here made by a TV channel, it was amazing.
Have used Thomas Cook a number of times for package and independent holidays and I've always been impressed. I like to get the front row with the extra legroom and the free bar although I'm not really a drinker. Last flight the crew gave my wife free Prosecco and I was on soft drinks she got mine as well 4 times between Glasgow and Palma. IMO the economy+ is well worth the extra, so much so we're going to Lanzarote with them in economy+ next month as independent fyers. I'd rate the 9/10 and the best UK "holiday" airline.
So much for well lit runways and airports I guess haha. Also, it's surprising just how easy it is to confuse Jet2's livery (the one on the plane taking off from Fuerteventura as your plane pulled out from it's slot) with Allegiant's livery. I got incredibly blindsided by it haha
Flying TC to Tenerife on Tuesday, flown with them before to Majorca and was very impressed, especially with the food. Cabin Crew were great and The Captain was very friendly, both he and the first officer let my young son sit in the cockpit for a few minutes whilst they explained some of the instruments to him as there was short delay due to people boarding the wrong flight. Looking forward to it.
Good to have a good report on Thomas Cook. In the past they had the worst record or delays. My suggestion for the future is a 24 hour cruise from Portsmouth to Santander which I love. Be interesting to get your response.
Thanks for another trip report. I have traveled with TC Scandinavia from Tromsø to Las Palmas, and it was a very pleasant flight. Also in economy plus. As a seasoned traveler I saw that it was good value for money. We paid extra for a luxury meal, but it was not worth the prize. The fish was to salt and the meat was dry. I saw that you looked at Svalbard in an inflight magazine In one of your videos. It’s worth the trip, and I can also recommend a widerøe flight from Kirkenes to Tromsø around the coast of the county of Finnmark. looking forward to your next video.
20 years ago the route didn't exist and you'd be paying 500 GBP to take IB via Madrid. I think 119 GBP is a very fair price. Spare a thought for those of us who in Commercial Aviation and have seen our package erode over the years...
Haven’t flown Thomas Cook for quite some years now! I’m more inclined to do so as rival operators become more expensive, although you get what you pay for with different operators IE. TUI operating more and more 787-8 on short to mid-haul and Jet2 investing billions in new NG 737-8. Thomas Cook have always seemed the sensible choice however. Paul I would definitely encourage you to try TUI on a mid-haul route where you fly out on one of their older 757-2 and return on 787-8.
Wow good video! I actually am plane spotting at bhx right now (no planes at the moment) but I saw an air India 787 star alliance livery land then not long after a retro livery SAS A319 just a couple of minutes ago! Can I just ask your opinion on whether Thomas cook should start long haul bhx?
I Waldron DSA is a lovely airport. From 2019, TUI are using a Dreamliner to fly to Orlando from Doncaster and other new destinations (110,000 extra seats) so DSA now want to double their terminal size.
DSA is one of my favourite airports. Very small, little "Duty Free" rubbish, and never been late yet after many TUI flights to Corfu. Ample car parking right next to the terminal. 6 gates, I think - and a quick walk to the plane. After many nightmare experiences at USA airports I'd take the sheer simplicity any time!
Euro44 GamingPal99 They can’t fully estimate how much refreshments they should put on aircraft. I’ve been on 9 TUI holidays and not one of them have failed. Maybe you should’ve spoken to one of the crew about people kicking your chair but this isn’t an exact problem with the airline itself.
Sad to see this once iconic UK travel company come to an end. My very first job in London was for a travel agent that ended up being taken over by TC. My father worked for them in the early 60’s visiting hotels abroad to see the accommodations. He had already passed away before the bankruptcy but I know he would have hated to see it.
@12:51...lol For flights of this length it always hard to determine if paid upgrades are worth it. I glad you like to try things out and put the vids on RUclips.
Definitely try TUI 787 Premium!! Or comparison between Jet2-Thomas Cook- TUI. Love Thomas cook think brand is great. Economy plus is a very good idea indeed.
Great video again Paul. Talking about TUI have you ever flown on one of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners? I went from BHX - Cancun last year in Premium Club and was surprised at how good the service was. Would be good to see your opinion on a future video maybe :)
Nice report, the food is actually very similar to what Monarch used to offer before they kinda stopped doing the hot meals in 2016 (You still got the Hot meal but not the Box) :)
Great video! Haven’t flown with Thomas Cook in a while. Flown with tui on their 787 several times now though and fantastic even in economy, worth giving them a shot, if you’re lucky catch one while it’s on a short haul route
Thanks Paul great video! You were correct about the ferry and Venus. You flight actually flew over my Restaurant in Puerto del Carmen!I,m glad I watched this as I regularly fly back to the UK and the worst flight I had was with Thomas Cook!Dirty air con so I sneezed the whole journey. You also couldn,t watch anything we had downloaded onto our tablets! The flight was rammed due to Lanzarote holding Ironman and god knows what the Athletes made of the flight? The plane was very dirty too?Hopefully next time an upgrade will make all the difference?Economy on this flight is hell! Thanks for all your posts just started watching them yesterday and they are great!x
Did you know that Virgin Trains East Coast have hired in James Martin for their catering in both First Class and at the Foodbar Buffet counter? He has created Danish Pastries, Chicken Curry, Hunters Chicken & Bacon Toastie, Macaroni Cheese and Sausage Roll
Thank you Paul for making this video I fly in June back to Sheffield England I am so pleased you don't have to pay extra for your meals you did a good job look forward to your next trip
Juliette Walker For normal economy I believe there is no food unless you pay extra. This was economy plus not normal economy. The flight is under 4 hours so it's short haul. Long haul is when you don't have to pay extra on Thomas Cook for food.
Flown with tui on their 787 several times now and fantastic even in economy, worth giving them a shot, if you’re lucky catch one while it’s on a short haul route
What's the app you're using to track your flight? And how did you find out exactly which aircraft was going to be used for your flight when it was still on the inbound journey?
I see you made a comment about taking a flight in the future with Tui. Please do, they are the only company I will use for a package holiday. The value is fantastic all round. HOWEVER!!! I recently travelled from LGW to Sal, Cape Verde on the B757 Despite it being my personal favourite aircraft. The cabin layout on the TUI flight was woeful. So prepare yourself if you choose a flight on the 75 That said, a return trip on their 738 was great and plenty of room
Thank you so much for doing a Thomas Cook Tripreport! Flying Birmingham to Faro, Faro to Birmingham in less than 5 weeks with TC on the A321 Economy Plus. We have booked seats 1A, 1B, 1C. I am 6ft 2 and I have seat 1A, will it be tight or okay? Shame you got one of the old Blue planes. Thomas Cook have told me I am on a new one though! This will be our first time with TC as have always gone to Faro with Monarch. I think I have made the right choice choosing Thomas Cook over Jet2? Love the cabin interior as well! Cant wait to fly with them now!
nice work Paul ! not flown TCX for about 10 years; looks like they have upped their game. [good to see ]. nice to see Fuerteventura, I did a few flights in and out of there in the late 80's/ early 90's....and the terminal is so much better now !
John Horton I was thinking the same, last flew from Fuerte in 1995 (Airtours 757 to EMA), it wasn’t bad then and quite spacious but completely redeveloped now.
my first flight in to FTV was in 1987 on a Vickers Viscount from Lanzarote on a day excursion would you believe ! liked the place, and went back on hols in 1990 on a brand new AirUK Leisure b737-400. went back 2 more times in the early '90's once on an Air 2000 757, and lastly was on a Britannia 767-200. all from Manchester.
Ive booked economy plus. The confusing bit for me was choosing my seat. the website showed the layout of the plane and showed that rows 1 and 2 are economy plus. so I used the live chat on the thomas cook website and asked if the seats had extra legroom. The representative said that the economy plus seats were the same size as the economy seats but you got other advantages (drinks, check in etc.) so what i want to know is - why bother having a special section for economy plus people?
Because economy plus has certain service benefits like a meal - makes sense to keep those passengers together. Just like European business class I suppose.
Hi Paul, I agree with stretching the budget a little I think it was worth it, here's a suggestion for you for a future trip, get the overnight Stena ferry from Liverpool to Belfast with the ensuite cabin, upgrade to the Stena plus lounge which I always do for the good service and free food and drinks the crossing is like a mini cruise. Then from Belfast get the new Norwegian service to the USA, they serve 2 regional airports outside New York, your take on Norwegian would be very interesting. Cheers.
He has booked a Norwegian flight already. Providence to Edinburgh on the 737MAX in June (If Norwegian haven´t gone bankrupt by then) :-) ba97.com/report.asp?handle=paul4040
Andrew Sebastian Rothgarn Antonsen I hope they don't as I'm toying with booking them for a pre Christmas visit to New York. Is it not a lot of hype and rumour mungering by Ryanair to try and hit their bookings by making people afraid to trust them.
gazzaanrver Not really They are expected to lose about £236.5 million in the 1st quarter of 2018. That's about £25 for every passenger who flew with them. They've just asked their investors for money to be able to pay for deliveries of some 787s too. For once Michael O'Leary (Ryanair) is actually telling the truth
You should do a type of thing over a few weeks where you do the same route in the same class on various airlines E.G:BHX-FUE:with all the airlines that operate it and see which is the best??
Another great review - that meal looks great! I didn’t know that you could buy flight only from Thomas Cook, TUI et al - I thought you could only get them as part of a holiday package.
Nice report Paul. I’ve flown on another charter carrier years ago and I don’t remember it being as good as your experience. Have you reviewed an AA flight?
Another great vid Paul, I have booked premium economy on a Thomas cook flight to Las Vegas from Manchester, cost £176 pp hope it’s slightly better than what you experienced there in economy plus considering the price difference. cheers keep up the good work with the great reports 👍👍
Let me know what you thought of Thomas Cook in the comments. Have you flown with them? What did you think?
Don’t forget I’m now uploading on Thursdays too - did you see last Thursday’s? m.ruclips.net/video/VIU6KA8sLzc/видео.html
Happy Easter to all my subscribers. Have a good one.
Paul's Trip Reports I flew on TCX last in 2014 on a week old A321 from NCL-AYT and back. I liked it, better than Jet2! Not sure about whether they are better than TUI
Paul's Trip Reports what hotel did you stay in was it origo mare near corralejo
Ty buddy happy easter to u aswell
Nice job. I'm honestly baffled as I don't know the difference between an A320 & 21. Do you know? In addition, Happy April Fools day!
Today I came to know THOMAS COOK also give passenger commercial flight service.
Looks good
Doesn't strike me as great value for £50. Funny how Economy Plus used to be what you used to get in bog standard Economy years ago.
Graham Crichton ur a weirdo mate
Italia Man so him commenting makes him weird ? Are you 5. Years old?
I flew with Thomas cook back in 2003 and had a brilliant experience. On time in both directions. Great service. Awful turbulence on the way home but the staff were amazing at keeping us all calm and smiling.
The most dangerous part of flying is going up and down the stairs to the aircraft! 😂😂
Ye I always think I'm gonna fall
The only airline I'll miss 😥
*Cries in US Airways*
Cries in airberlin
Cries in Air Italy
*Cries in Monarch*
Cries in Flybe
Your videos are so perfect, the right amount of time the best review if really matters. Just great videos. Keep it up!
You should do a Scottish Isles tour with Loganair, Flybe and Eastern Airways if you get the chance! Will let you fly some rarer aircraft, visit some more 'obscure' airports and of course let you see some amazing scenery!
12:25 Yep, that's Venus and Mercury at the top right
Alex mercury isn’t that bright
Especially at that time of evening
Now VENUS, that’s bright, it outshines everything except the moon in the night sky
Au Revoir Thomas Cook you made many peoples’ dreams come true...
I have very fond childhood memories of Thomas Cook. Them and Thomson where the airlines who always took me and my family on holiday when I was only a kid. Very sad that they’re gone now.
I love your charter trip reports! I'd love another Jet2 one!
As someone who has been in travel trade for over 20yrs ur trip reports are very good.
Thanks for a great trip report Paul! 👍
You are a natural at showing what we all need to see! 🌍
DoubleDeckerAnton I'm am fan of you

s125ish time you did again
Nothing wrong with charter airlines at all, never had an issue
Back in 2015, I went to Antalya from Newcastle international in the Thomas Cook Airbus A321. It was a great flight! Great food, comfort and the leg space is good. Mind, that was 5 ours in economy class. I always recommend Thomas Cook if you’re going in economy class!
You should fly the new Qantas route from London to Perth ;)
Do not fly economy
Benny Th thats a good idea
Yes loved to see you in my home country👍. Not a lot of trip reports done around here😂
Just spoke to a man who took the 1st flight, he said it was hard going but worth not having to change planes and the dreamliner made the trip bearable, he also said the captain came through the cabin and causally spoke to the passengers which was nice.
Fly it in economy Paul, let the truth be told
Paul I have flew with Thomas cook it was rlly fun I appreciate you doing well on this flight
Hello Paul i fly with thomas cook on Tuesday to Greece an its my first time flying and watching your videos has helpted me calm my nurves for flying I love your vidoes and never miss any of them keep up with the Amazing videos =) =)
Great report as always..I’ve only ever had delays with TC which is why I don’t use them anymore but the Eco Plus deal looked good
Some of their turnarounds are pretty tight. Thankfully we recovered nearly all the lost time on this trip!
Very interesting. I worked for Thomas Cook Travel in New York City many years ago. Nice to see what they're up to.
I am very impressed - even a little frightened - that you knew you were lining up for "runway 33." At night! :)
It’s quite a few years since i flew with Thomas cook (I’m using them in2020 for Bulgaria) but everything you just had, plus the suitcases plus the colouring books and crayons for the kids, were in with the flight price, its crazy you have to pay to take your clothes with you! Times changed!!

Wonderful as always! Looking forward to thursday! loving the 2x a week uploads btw! :D
Thank you for another great report! Looked very worth the price to me

How do you get to know which gate it is before it’s shown on the boards
Weight distribution can be a reason for some of the rows being full. That's also the reason planes are often filled up from the center.
Was row switching allowed?
From where I'm sitting that looked like a very decent experience.
Well done Thomas Cook!
Seems good. Looks quite nice. Cool trip report Paul. You have inspired me to make a trip report when I go to Italy!

There’s already a video on my channel on the Portsmouth to Santander ferry :-)

Great vid. How do you keep the camera still? I use a suction holding thing and put it on the window but it vibrates
Genuinely thought this was some sort of April fools joke...Then I saw you actually get on the plane... haha keep the up the content , love it ! :)
£119 seems steep for a one way flight in the off season
Was £69 without Economy plus. Seems a good deal to me.
20 years ago the route didn't exist and you'd be paying 500 GBP to take IB via Madrid.
I think 119 GBP is a very fair price.
Spare a thought for those of us who in Commercial Aviation and have seen our package erode over the years...
Back in 1992 i flew from manchester to las palmas with british caledonian for £513
Off season?, from desember to beginning of april is the high season for gran Canaria.
wirkola1 most brits travel to the canaries between may and September
Ps I would always recommend keeping cuttlery on a napkin atop a potentially germ-rich tray table !
I have just found thia amazing channel. So nice to see BHX being shown on social media.
Wow good video! I actually am plane spotting at bhx right now (no planes at the moment) but I saw an air India 787 star alliance livery land then not long after a retro livery SAS A319 just a couple of minutes ago!

jimhawkins2 Mhm. It truly is a great airport and the new destinations and expansions can only make things better, let’s hope they go well.
Euro44 GamingPal99 Actually, they are quite good and by the looks of it many share my opinion.
Excellent video, really enjoyed it. Been many years since I was at Fuerteventura airport. It has changed significantly!
What was that app you used to see your flight coming in?
What app are you using to track the planes?
Sad to see this once iconic UK travel company come to an end. My very first job in London was for a travel agent that ended up being taken over by TC. My father worked for them in the early 60’s visiting hotels abroad to see the accommodations. He had already passed away before the bankruptcy but I know he would have hated to see it.
How was the Magners Irish Cider? Never heard of it. And O'Brien's Chocolate. I'll have to look them up.
@12:51...lol
For flights of this length it always hard to determine if paid upgrades are worth it. I glad you like to try things out and put the vids on RUclips.
Definitely try TUI 787 Premium!! Or comparison between Jet2-Thomas Cook- TUI. Love Thomas cook think brand is great. Economy plus is a very good idea indeed.
Do you have or do you know of a video of a LHR to GIB flight ?
Great video again Paul. Talking about TUI have you ever flown on one of the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners? I went from BHX - Cancun last year in Premium Club and was surprised at how good the service was. Would be good to see your opinion on a future video maybe :)
SinWithAGrin that’s where I’m going Nect week is it hood
Fantastic work mate keep those videos coming : )
Canary islands are amazing if you fly with Jet 2, Thomas Cook and TUI.
What is that app you were using to watch it come into land
What did you use to track your flight??
Nice report, the food is actually very similar to what Monarch used to offer before they kinda stopped doing the hot meals in 2016 (You still got the Hot meal but not the Box) :)
Nice video, looked good. Thanks Paul's Trip Reports
I’m flying with them to New York next month . . Nice vid Paul.
Hey Paul what video editor do you use?
Great video! Haven’t flown with Thomas Cook in a while. Flown with tui on their 787 several times now though and fantastic even in economy, worth giving them a shot, if you’re lucky catch one while it’s on a short haul route
I love Thomas Cook for 7 years
Do you clip your camera to your shoulder when walking?
Hey Paul what flight tracker do you use
Try FlightTracker24 😎
Is there any chance you will be doing an alicante trip report this summer?
Is it just me but I really prefer the Thomas cook grey design rather than the blue
Thanks Paul for another great flight review
What app did you use to tract your flight?
Did you know that Virgin Trains East Coast have hired in James Martin for their catering in both First Class and at the Foodbar Buffet counter? He has created Danish Pastries, Chicken Curry, Hunters Chicken & Bacon Toastie, Macaroni Cheese and Sausage Roll
Thank you Paul for making this video I fly in June back to Sheffield England I am so pleased you don't have to pay extra for your meals you did a good job look forward to your next trip

Does the Economy plus ticket with Thomas cook allow you to use the airport VIP/ business class lounge?
ELPaso1990TX No
What's the app you're using to track your flight? And how did you find out exactly which aircraft was going to be used for your flight when it was still on the inbound journey?
What a lovely flight report! I was actually suprised by the good menu which was offert. Thumbs up and best regards from Germany
I see you made a comment about taking a flight in the future with Tui. Please do, they are the only company I will use for a package holiday. The value is fantastic all round.

Flightradar24 is good isn't it? I used it to get to the gate before it was announced for my flight from London Heathrow to Corfu Kerkyra
Another enjoyable trip report
The dirty windows annoy me at LPA also. Such great apron views yet the windows are so grubby.
Have always been confused: can one only take this airline as part of a holiday package (air+land)?
nice work Paul ! not flown TCX for about 10 years; looks like they have upped their game. [good to see ]. nice to see Fuerteventura, I did a few flights in and out of there in the late 80's/ early 90's....and the terminal is so much better now !
John Horton I was thinking the same, last flew from Fuerte in 1995 (Airtours 757 to EMA), it wasn’t bad then and quite spacious but completely redeveloped now.
my first flight in to FTV was in 1987 on a Vickers Viscount from Lanzarote on a day excursion would you believe ! liked the place, and went back on hols in 1990 on a brand new AirUK Leisure b737-400. went back 2 more times in the early '90's once on an Air 2000 757, and lastly was on a Britannia 767-200. all from Manchester.
i love the a321 just looks right
Have you flown with easyJet before? If so have you ever lost luggage with them before? Thanks
Hi Paul
What’s your favourite Plane ?
Weird, I flew from LGW to FUE yesterday with Thomas Cook also. I was on a 757 300, G-JAAM I believe.
Acerbane I think you ment G-JMAA or G-JMAB I flew G-JMAA to Gatwick From Lanzarote
You should do a type of thing over a few weeks where you do the same route in the same class on various airlines
E.G:BHX-FUE:with all the airlines that operate it and see which is the best??
Great video - I have enjoyed each second. I am looking forward to your next one!
I was in Future venture when you were chillin' in Peiros music cafe! It was GREAT!
