    Just release him, give him whatever guaranteed money he's owed and be done with him. Why would you want a player that doesn't want to be there. No one else should want him either. He hates baseball and baseball hates him as far as I'm concerned. It baffles me that he can stick around and Bauer can't get a job in the MLB.

    • @wingracer1614
      @wingracer1614 8 месяцев назад +26

      I don't have his contract in front of me but pretty much all FA contracts are ALL guaranteed. So releasing him does nothing. You still have to pay him. The only thing it does is free up that roster spot which is important so it's an option but not a good one. Still, what other options do they have?

    • @botsareeverywhere
      @botsareeverywhere 8 месяцев назад +10

      They owe him over 110 Million, no way they’re cutting him

    • @matthew01234
      @matthew01234 8 месяцев назад +15

      I wouldn't release him because there's nothing to gain but a roster spot by doing it. If they hold onto him there's always a chance he can be traded as part of a salary offset in a bigger trade. There's also the slim chance that if they release him he could bounce back with another team and be productive again and that would be terrible because then the Angels would be paying Rendon a ton of money to play against them. For over 2 years everyone said the Braves should just eat Ozuna's contract and trade him but they held onto him. Then last year Ozuna bounced back and was the best DH in the National League. If the Braves had listened to everyone and released Ozuna they would look so stupid right now because they would be paying virtually all of his contract just for him to play against them. The Angels shouldn't release Rendon unless he is still this terrible and they can't trade him by the 2026 trade deadline. 2026 is the last year of his contract and if the deadline passes that year and they still haven't traded him then they will never be able to. So if he hasn't bounced back by then... By all means they should go ahead and release him if they need the roster spot. Until then there is always at least a small chance he will either bounce back or they will be able to trade him to save at least a portion of his salary. I'd be willing to bet they could actually trade him right now if they ate most of his salary. Even if the team that acquires him of only willing to pay him $1M per year that would still save the Angels $3M which is better than releasing him and saving nothing. I'd actually be willing to bet a team would be willing to pay more than that just to see if Rendon would benefit from a change of scenery. Some team desperate for a 3rd baseman might be willing to pay him around $5M per year or so. That would save the Angels $15M. So no. Don't release him. Continue trying to trade him or waiting to see if he bounces back until the 2026 trade deadline passes. If it's still the same situation by then that's when they should release him because only then will all hope be lost. Even then they should only release him if they have a better third base option. Until they have a better option they might as well keep throwing him out there.

    It’s so sad and ironic that for a few seasons, on the same team, you had a player who worked his ass off. Came early and stayed late. Devoted his entire existence to the game to the point where he had folks who never cared for baseball or who had lapsed in their fandom caring about baseball again. At the same time, you have this guy, shows up late, calls in sick more than half the time and literally contributes nothing to the game or the team while collecting a huge fat paycheck while badmouthing the game and the fans.

      Who knows… could be higher, But the real reason he left is because he knows he ain’t gonna win there
      You could put Soto Ohtani and trout on the same team and I bet you won’t win more than 80-85. I bet you could even stick Pete Alonso there and you might get to 87-88 games and be watching in October.
      Still ain’t better than Astros, orioles, Tampa, blue jays, rangers, and possibly the Yankees or the mariners even WITH all four studs

      Or, it could be like the D-Backs' season last year. We might find that we have the best group of youngsters in MLB when O'Hammered gets a full season to show what he's capable of, with Neto back and stronger than ever, with Schanuel being like a mini-Rod Carew, and Moniac doing his thing. We were just a bullpen away from contention, and today we got Stephenson to help with that. Add Ron Washington's persuasion over his players and we might be pleasantly surprised! 🙂

    But I mean it’s not like it doesn’t have some precedent though, Carlos Vela an incredible soccer player who’s played in Europe and has won MLS cup here in the states, has said numerous times he doesn’t even like soccer and that basketball is his real passion. He would’ve rather been a basketball player but was too short. But at least he’s always played well in soccer and lived up to his contracts in spite of his indifference.

They were like 'no way! he changes the line up just by being in the game!'. well, I was right. Angels got 12.8 WAR out of Pujols, including one 4.8 season. With Rendon, they only got 3.1 WAR out of him in 4 seasons, and its not looking good going forward.

And he hit 100 or more rbi in like 6-7 out of the 10 seasons there. He did his job driving in runs even if he did t hit for avg or get on base like he used to.
      We know rendon is never gonna drive in even 80. Let alone 7 seasons of 100 lmao. Idc about rate stats, what are the producing? Trout has great slash rates…. What’s he done to produce? Nothing lately
