I played this game with my uncle as a kid. He was the first and only one to beat the game. He’s no longer with us. Best uncle ever! Thanks for sharing this!
I have been looking for this game for the past 18 years of my life! And finally! Finally! I am blessed with a random suggestion by yt! This game was a staple, top down game in my childhood!.
Same bro. I thought the game was called Raiden so I went and searched for every Raiden game out there and there were so many damn. Finally found out that it’s not called Raiden lol
I was born in 2001 and was allowed to play this game on my uncle‘s snes which sadly died when I was 5 years old. Since then the memory of this game‘s first few stages was floating in my head everytime I heard the word Nintendo. The older I got the more I thought that this game never really existed or wasn‘t as great as I remembered it to be. But now that I found it again, everything is coming back. I can‘t wait to play it again.
Thank you for putting up this video I have tried to find this game for years. Could never remember the name and I kept finding Aero fighters and 1942 stuff whenever id do a search.
Love this game! Started my childhood love of schmups. Now I have well over 30 schmup titles in my collection :) Strike Gunner will always hold #1 though. Good Music, Good Power Ups, awesome weapons and 2 players! It's usually rare to see people play this game, specially ones who are good at it and have planned weapon choices. I liked some of your picks and was confused by others until I saw you use them. Very good stuff!!
28:30 I remember how much it was breath taking to me when I saw that horizon.....making me think to myself "Oh I finally leave earth and travel universe..!"
Omg this is it, I remember buying this game with a friend in Woolworths. It was on sale for like 7 pounds I think, must of been like 20 years ago. Went home and played it all day long, remember being so happy with it.
This was my favourite SNES game as a kid :D I played it so much that I eventualy learned all the levels and could memorize the enemies so I usually finished the game without dying once. I also always save the plasma shield for the last level where the labyrinth is so I could fly through the walls :D
Last stage was really a sad moment. When i was expecting to fight a really boss, is just a one hit core. Maze was not a problem, after sometime you learn all ways
I had a Japanese cart back in the 90s that I got from a thrift store. Used some metal shears to clip out the plastic parts in my SNES that kept me from being able to play it. I never beat it and I lost my copy in a breakup. I couldn't even remember what it was called. this brings back so many memories.
This is the best shoot'em up on the snes and one of the best I've ever played. Being able to select what special you take with you gives excellent strategy and replay value. My only complaint is the final level. Rushing you through tight tunnels that need precise maneuvering is kinda a fuck you for making it that far.
Damn, i know i was choosing wrong weapons in this game, reason why i sucked hard at this game in my childhood. But amazing run dude, i want to see a boss rush or no weapons boss rush or different weapons rush.
I loved this game as a teen. The enemy forces can field a military numbering in the tens of thousands with massive fixed wing, rotary, dirigibles, tanks, fighters, missile batteries, and even space ships. Utterly incapable of shooting down a pair of fighters, or their support craft.
This game takes place in the year I was born in, and there were no giant planes, giant helicopters, hovercraft tanks, oversized tri-cannon tanks, laser shooting ships, laser satellites, space mechs nor any massive spaceships.
I went with my big bro to go buy some games as we were hanging out today. Finally got this for my shmup library. Told my bro it has 2 players. He responded “Man. You know I can’t last more than a minute in them Raiden clones.” As we went our separate ways, at can’t help but think how funny it is that that’s always his response. If it’s horizontal, then he’ll say it’s an R-type clone or Gradius. Yeah for all the Call Of Duty he might do well at, he ain’t to good a shot when airborne. Funny.
"Ok team, we're gonna make a new shmup for snes! Now what can we do to make it stand out from the other games in the genre? Steve?" "Hmm, well we should taake advantage of the Snes power and start the level off with lots of paralax scrolling and eye candy to really grab people's attention!" "No, that's been done and overdone. Anyone else? Gavin?" "I say we forget we even have 16bits to work with and make the first 10 minutes just broccoli...and not broccoli with depth, just plain green, 2D broccoli like you could manage in 8bit for 10 minutes strait as a background! Boom!" "Ok guys we've got a winner here! Make it happen!"
My parents took me shopping at a strip mall in Castle Rock Colorado. They said I could get a videogame and this is the game I picked out. The music stayed burned in my memory all these years. I played this game a lot and I want to say I beat it but can't remember. I'm 38 years old now
3 years after my first message, We have finaly finish this insane game. (2 players otaku) without shield and fusion. We have started the game with 3 lives. After finished the game, we drank rhum, went to the street in my quiet french village and shout for joy "yeah!!! we are too strong" we have finish strike gunner otaku" :) :) :)
This game is one of the best shoot em ups ever and clearly made for two players which I never got the chance to play dual. The end really pissed me off though. No boss just an obstacle course meant to drain lives and what do you get for all this? A quick credit scene, a screen that stops at The End which you have to reset to leave, and not even a chance to see your final score. Bullshit.
Am I the only who for stages 6 and 7 always took "Laser Cannon" and Megabean Cannon"? I mean, look how hard beating stage 6 boss was. It could be way easier
Nota 8 amigo ?
I played this game with my uncle as a kid. He was the first and only one to beat the game. He’s no longer with us. Best uncle ever! Thanks for sharing this!
❤️👏
Your his maverick sir
I have been looking for this game for the past 18 years of my life! And finally! Finally! I am blessed with a random suggestion by yt! This game was a staple, top down game in my childhood!.
me too!

I loved this game as a kid. I used the cheap out on the last levels maze on two player by combining me and my bothers planes and using the shield.
Good memories with this and UN Squadron, little known SNES gems. Amazing MIDI music through this whole game!
YEAH especially 6:33 still loving that track
I used to play UN Squadron (which is based on a manga: Area 88) at the arcades back in the days.
drini omar it's been my phone ringtone for years!
The midi from all the bosses sounds like misirlou from dick dale😂😂😂
ahh the nostalgia, couldn't beat this or contra 3 without my dad...good ol days
This game taught me the word adhesive back in the day, that was the first and last time I learned something educational from a game.
This game seems very 'old skool' by concentrating on the action rather than super flashy backgrounds. The music in Level 2 is really really good.
I used to play this in 1997. I was 8 yrs old.
Only played this game a few times in the 90s. Never paid attention to the name, but always remembered the first stage music. So great.
Great job on Strike Gunner STG. One of the few shmups not made by either Konami or Taito.
Thank you for putting up this video I have tried to find this game for years. Could never remember the name and I kept finding Aero fighters and 1942 stuff whenever id do a search.
Trilha sonora impecável, jogo excelente!

Agree 100%

jep1st that was the Magic: memorize and learn new skills.
31:00 essa música sempre me deu medo!!
31:00 this music gets me afraid
a 41:00 é a melhor !
love how you were reckless on level 3 since you used the shields, yet still dodged most of the shots, even some crazy ones lol
Loved this game so much growing up. Used to play it all the time with my bro.
Finally I played this game as a kid with my brother and loved it!!!! Unfortunately we forgot the name till now.
37:00 Parece a música do Jornal Nacional!
Kkkkkkkkkk
Kkkkkkkkkk
Kkkkkkk
kkk
Agora você estragou a musica para sempre kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
Last stage was really a sad moment. When i was expecting to fight a really boss, is just a one hit core. Maze was not a problem, after sometime you learn all ways
imagine taking plasma shield for last lvl and you take 0 dammage and don't need to do the dodge thing at the last part
i love a lot this game, for me is the perfect shoot and up from snes ! i wanna buy the cartrige again many years dont' play!
Emulator. Download ROM. Free play now. $0
Good Memories, good times.

This is one of my favorite games of all time.
cool run! thanks for the upload
amazing run as always
the bullets are so fast, it's unfair for anyone with normal hand eye coordination. there's very little slowdown which is cool. runs pretty smooth

Agora que olhei! STG... BONS TEMPOS DO SNES!!!!👏👏👏
My favorite SNES game as a kid!
That was Akira AF, wish I would have known those little corner tricks when I was 9!
the only reason why i love this game is it let us to choose which special skill that we can attach ;))
I loved this game as a teen.

20:31 ghost plane shooting a missile lol
One of the cheapest and most unfair deaths I've ever suffered!

Qué buen juego. Qué buena música. Magistral.
Memories man eating good food as a kid ...that u cant remember watching wrestling...no bills ...im crying
This is literally the first game I've ever played.
Good game. Outstanding MODE 7 effects in the end of the game.
"Ok team, we're gonna make a new shmup for snes! Now what can we do to make it stand out from the other games in the genre? Steve?"

This game was awesome. 2 players and you can combine ships in two ways
i loved the space part and also if aliens were the ones attacking planet Earth , why were choppers and tanks attacking you as well? XD!
Damn I never knew about this…. It looks really good.

Si, 😢😢😢😢
The music was my favorite while playing. Very early 90s
Loved this game I never owned it but had a lend of it off a friend I think.
My parents took me shopping at a strip mall in Castle Rock Colorado. They said I could get a videogame and this is the game I picked out. The music stayed burned in my memory all these years. I played this game a lot and I want to say I beat it but can't remember. I'm 38 years old now
And here I thought firepower2000 was a mess, this is another nightmare shootem up in itself.
Eu tbm...rsrs

and of course without continue. :)
The name of the aircraft is f 14 Tomcat
Loved this game! Music was great! Is there a way to save game on this or a way to skip levels?
My childhood in Snes ❤️🥲
Eu tinha a versão japonesa desse jogo

i played this so much that a always knew what the best weapon to each fase
You only died once in that end game maze. Impressive. I can't get better than 3 times dying. Something just distracts my eyes for a milisec and boom.
The best game! ♥️👏🏻
CUANDO ERA CHIBOLO...
Ufff juegaso
Igual yó
Thanks bro 💓
Nostálgico😢
Clássico!
Seems pretty cool.
20:31 HOLY SHIT!!!! damn
this game is god tier.
Era un juegazo.
I play this when I was 11-13ish and only gat past level four thanks the weapons use information
Love I still know every single song
My childhood OMGGGGG
Wait, at the end, why the pilots have swapped color schemes? the male pilot should be red, and the female must be blue, like the arcade
Am I the only who for stages 6 and 7 always took "Laser Cannon" and Megabean Cannon"?
I mean, look how hard beating stage 6 boss was. It could be way easier
Reminds me of Raptor call of the shadows
Yeah, it does look kind of like it. Reminds me I need to go play Raptor again some day!
adoro
used to play this game on snes
Nota 8 amigo ?

Gosh, you're good.
5:00 POV: you tell you're mom to shut it
I remember when I was 5 my sister broke her arm and my parents let me stay home alone with my friend and we played this game for hours...
I mean 4:13 is fake AF way harder than that. Something isn’t right.
"Blarggstrike"
40:59 well now that looks easy
Great game
♥
