  • Amateur Trans-Am cars. We still did tubs instead of tubes as long as the Pro series did. Hobbs even says so when he tries to describe what they are.
Les Lindley on the pole. Yes, that's how long he spent playing with Camaros.
Two wave-offs! But watching it again, I can see why. Y'all get your stuff together back in the pack..everyone else would really like to go racing today.
Again, what we in TV call "raw footage". I love hearing David & Mike discuss things like how much of this stuff will end up on the air after all their work. I completely understand why the SSC race (same weekend, footage elsewhere on my channel) never made it to air..but c'mon. GT-1? Big Iron should have had a bit of screen time. Even if the race wasn't close, the damn cars were wonderful.
Old guy has to ask..is there a thing like Photoshop for video? This one comes off another old VHS, and it kind of bothers me that the colors are so bleached out.
BTW: Jerry Dunbar, 1980 GT-1 National Champion. Every clubman racer knows that there are 'amateurs' who had the pace to go Pro, but never had the chance, or the luck, or the money. RIP, Jerry. (we lost him in 2014).

Nice to see the old pony cars racing. Reminds me of watching a Trans AM race back in 1969. Thanks for sharing.

+Tiptoetherat , yeah, kind of a weird thing. I can't find the original dub that I had. It was SP speed VHS, copied from the original master 1" reel-to-reel. But going through my unlabeled stuff again, I found a tape where I had recorded *all* the originals I found on a single tape. Don't know why I made a 'safety copy', but glad I did! I'm still looking for the better copy, that one would be at least as clean as the other '80 stuff on here.

You might enjoy Touring Car Masters out of Australia. I think since 2007 they have been racing classics from the sixties and seventies.
