    This whole video is a vibe. Better times in racing and in the US.

    Spring of my high school senior year, and we were there! Golden age of road racing to be sure.

    I was at this race. Loved Road Atlanta. Did Motocross and the championship meet in November. All classes from formula vee to trans am. It was great 👍 👌

    Fun to see this. I attended this race and I had photo pass credentials...I got to ride two laps in Walt Maas's GTU 914/6 on press day. Road Atlanta with the gravity cavity before the bridge was an E-ticket ride!!
    Thanks for sharing.

      Me too was a college photographer and had photo pass. I remember Al Holbert and Peter Gregg. The track owned by Arthur Montgomery and some other lawyers was my first road racing experience. Really miss the track.

    This shows some great old racing, but there has to be a question why this racing favored porsche so much. 6 cyl. Turbo cars had an unfair advantage, big block n/a cars had a lot of power, but 6cyl. Turbo had MORE. AND THEY WERE LIGHTER!!! LESS FUEL CONSUMED = LESS PIT STOPS, BRAKED MUCH LATER, TIRES WEAR LESS = TIRES TRACTION FELL OFF MUCH LATER = BETTER CORNERING. PORSCHE WAS ARRANGED TO SUCCEED!!!!!! AND DID SO LONGER, TO ACHIEVE MOST WINS FOR MANY DECADES!!!!!

    Peter Greg's BMW is very beautiful. I'm not sure what the Monza is tho...a Vega?

    • @14154318
      @14154318 Год назад

      A mistake. Kinda like a Vega. That said, they were fun to watch, and, obviously did pretty well, for a while.

      @@14154318 What a stupid comment. They were a great car. Cheaply made and rust prone like a lot of other cars of the era but awesome to drive. I had a great 327 5 speed in mine. Still have the 327, a vandal wrecked the car.

    LA ÉPOCA DE CUANDO LAS VIDAS DE LOS PILOTOS NO VALÍAN NADA Y LO QUE PRIMABA ERA EL ESPECTÁCULO Y LA SEGURIDAD BRILLABA POR SU AUSENCIA.

    I can't believe they left Bob Sharp's 280 Z on the track and they kept on racing. The lack of safety on those days.

      In those days, track debris was noted with caution flag which was recorded in the drivers memory. After that it became part of the track.
