  • OverlandPros 4K 270 Degree Awning Honest Review.
    I have noticed SHADE is one of most essential needs out there when overlanding . Weather you are in Mojave desert or mountains of Colorado you NEED protection from elements. Thus I have purchased Overlandpros 4K 270 awning and decided to share my experience with you all since I liked it that much.
    Thanks for watching.

      the thread eventually dry rots and lets loose the epoxy bonds the joint permanently.....I learned this with my soft doors on my hmmwv.!

    Hi Eric,
    Thank you for this video.
    Am I right to assume that the awning has a natural inclination when deployed, so that rain water will slide off naturally instead of pooling on a flat surface?

    • @OverlandbyEric
      @OverlandbyEric  2 года назад +3

      I would say YES (thanks to gravity) . It’s is designed to set perfectly leveled . But given we always park in uneven surfaces so that does not matter , however , canter-lever weight of the awning makes it droop a little but NOT on hinge else on back wall and it gives a natural drain to front of awning but it still depends how level is your camping ground.
      Thanks for reaching out.

    It seems like almost every review of awnings happens in windy deserts. Which is entirely fair, those places have really fun technical trails and amazing vistas. I'm in the Northeast US where we have vistas and wind, but also rain as frequently as we have sun. I've been looking around for a while, but I haven't found any reviews or people using the awnings in rainy weather (even with the walls). If there is a resource anyone knows of that covers those conditions, I would appreciate hearing of it!

    • @OverlandbyEric
      @OverlandbyEric  2 года назад +1

      Hi thanks for watching. Yes I noticed most of the reviews are in sunny days with some winds. I tried to simulate rain but you saw it is not comparison to real rain.
      In my experience it will be standing rain for SOME hours but NOTHING is waterproof forever. Meaning after certain hours it starts leaking ( my ground tent , rain coat and even Jeep itself)
      When this awning was new it has a wax coating on it but now it’s gone and still holds California rain. 40 minutes drizzle 🌧 max.
      I also suggest check OVS awning they have great products.

    • @PhotonChief
      @PhotonChief 2 года назад +1

      @@OverlandbyEric Thank you for your reply! That is very useful information, especially the coating wetting through.

    • @OverlandbyEric
      @OverlandbyEric  2 года назад

      @@PhotonChief I’d say it keeps the water off enough. I get sometimes rained in at only center where the hinge is holding everything cuz there is big opening one can see it in videos but the rest kind of guide the water to ends in middle of each arm where there it is caved . Really depends how you park the car in slope or straight and remember I don’t have side walls and it’s hard to say

      Hi there, thanks for watching.
      Overall no problem with clearances.
      It has a rail system in entire back of awning and I was able to slide it back and forth to get it To exact location . It is 265 degrees awning so as you can see in video even though it’s cleared My RTT & shower but arm stopped few inches shorter than rear passenger corner of rig. It’s common with most of awnings. Brackets are versatile and If you have GOBI type of rack it came with right hardware. (U Bolt)
      RTT IS SITTING TIGHT to awning but my latches are at front and back so no problem.

    friend of mine has this awning and construction wise its great.But compared to the 23zero awning the fabric is lacking. On a 100 degree day we measured the temperature difference and light on both sides of the awning and the 23zero was hands down so much better. If that doesn't bother you then yeah this awning is good but if true shade and protection from the sun and elements, 23zero is the way to go.

      YOU NAILED IT!. I was waiting for this comment for ever . Yes when I said in video “I was looking for a different brand “I came from batwing Rhino rack to ARB then OVS . OVS is an amazing brand but I chose Overlandpros . Only differences OVS has better color matching . I saw their products in Costa Mesa expo and admired it.
      OVS has one piece arm at hinge or it’s two pieces? That’s something I can’t remember.

    • @hccvad1973
      @hccvad1973 2 года назад

      I’m undecided between the OVS and Overland Pros. Like Eric mentioned, one difference between these 2 brands is how the walls are connected to the awning. OVS uses zipper and OP uses Velcro. The construction seems to be exactly the same for both brands.

    • @OverlandbyEric
      @OverlandbyEric  2 года назад

      @@hccvad1973 for me zipper were deal breaker cuz they get dirty and don’t function any more.
      Also, I can’t remember for sure but OVS arms had a revet instead of weld . I might be wrong though.
      But OVS had a better color match and their roof top tents are much better in general.
      Before I saw this brand I was determined to buy OVS but I am super happy I took this route .

    DO NOT BUY OVERLAND PROS GEAR.
    I’ve read numerous Reddit’s reviews saying they won’t replace defective equipment.
    This was also my experience. I spent I think $1600 in gear that was bad and they refused to do anything about it.
    I spent over a year in emails with them and they just kept ignoring me.

    First of all two sides of square is not 270 degrees! This guy is not pushing this product for free.
    This is just more expensive junk!

      It refers to outside or square that covers driver side and rear of the vehicle if you look at it from top you will see a3/4 of a pie which is coverage of 270 degrees shade. It’s usually few degrees less due to way its constructed but commonly known as 270 because of area of shade provided.
