I never thought mixing drywall "mud" could be Artsy! Watching you mix it was definitely a work of art! Thanks for your Ambition Strikes fix for the day! You two are AMAZING.
Love the shoe sticking out of the scissor lift, thought it was real for a moment! 😮😮😅😂
There's one on each side
At least the chipmonk dosent sit up there with a sling shot & pummel your roof like they do here. 😠😠 always amazed at both of yalls skills!
Only 12 minutes. Dang. Long wait for 12 minutes. I've been checked daily. I think you guys owe us a midweek episode. Glad you are back!
Looks great. Scissor lifts are da bomb if you’ve got level footing. So comfortable. Work goes faster and the extra confidence in safety makes quality work even better. Rental will pay dividends and when you get older you’ll appreciate avoiding broken bones more😅
Ditto on extending the platform out longer. Do be very careful side loading while you’re working at heights. Tipping isn’t likely but with no suspension one looses some “feel” for the “balance” point if it goes away.
Courtney has the mudding down 👍👍👍
5/8 drywall was a great choice. Increase the soundproof of space and it’s just a much better product ‼️ Vinny 🇺🇸
Doing drywall taping and mudding looks so relaxing!
So far the mud and taping looks perfect. I've tried to teach people her technique, she almost made me cry.
With the expectation of snow, I’d suggest marking / staking the shoulders and hazards on your driveway, to eliminate rude and costly surprises once they are hidden by the white and fluffy stuff.
Good call on completing the dry wall, as it tends to get deferred, and yes, I am guilty of that…
I 2nd That... Either that or Chain Up... Happy Winter...lol...
Excellent idea
If someone hasn't mentioned it already, a lot of times scissor lift platforms can extend out. On the floor area there will be a foot lever/latch that you step on and push the platform out.
Whew! Was missing my Sunday video content. Glad y’all are home again!
Courtney's face while coming up the hill -- priceless. Also, the shoes on the side of the lift wigged me out a bit. Looked like someone got caught in the scissors.
Pretty sure that was the intent, lol
I'm anxiously awaiting
I love when Riley says "plug your ears" that is the best line ever!
I so love your channel. when I first found your channel, I spent hour on hours watching all your videos to the point I have seen them all. Only problem now is I can't wait for your next video. I check every day just waiting for the next one.
I constantly rewatch when there isn't a video for the week. I must have watched the snowverlander build 50 times
Same! The last 2 weeks felt like a eternity, so worth it though
I'm so glad when I wake up on Sunday and I have a push notification that a new video is up. Can't get enough content, great job guys!
Courtney, you have been the best at taping and mudding that I have seen on Utube, for amateurs. AWESOME JOB!!
Missed you guys last week. Was worried that something bad happened or that you left RUclips. Thanks for the video today. You guys make the best videos on RUclips.
Last week’s absence made me nervous too. I love the regular release on Sunday, it’s an inspiring way to start the week.
I just love it when Courtney has to put the brakes on Reilly’s fun!😂😂😂
she really love that man even when he try and off himself for youtube views
Love, love, love you guys. Hey Riley and Courtney, I see that you have the beginning of rust forming on your fold away garage door. I know Rust oleum makes a rusty metal primer, but the ultimate is to use a random orbit sander with something like 220 grits, and sand the rust off to shiny metal. You now have the scissor lift. Then, and this is important, you want to treat it with a metal etching solution which will prepare the metal for accepting a finish (and never peel) as well as destroying any remaining seeds of rust in the metal. Yes, when sanding metal it creates tiny metal particles, that just the moisture in the air can turn them into seeds of rust that typically get buried under the finish, and eventually grow into a rust coating, with all sorts of problems. With the metal prep/etch that all goes away. Let the metal etch dry completely, and then spray it with an oil based automotive type primer. That dries fast, and then spray an automotive top coat of an oil-based paint with the color of your choosing. Viola, you have a lifetime door. They say a stitch in time saves nine. That applies here. I can't get enough of your guys. I just watched this twice.
Good Sunday morning & thank you for sharing your journey with us . Looking forward to seeing more videos
Great to see the road building is multiplying your progress with how simpler it is to get stuff done.
Great work guys. That lift is way better than ladders or scaffoldings.
FYI how to pour mud in a box into a bucket is a simple RUclips trick, and really makes it better for you in so many ways.
We need more content from you, maybe a second post every week
Courtney and Riley, Missed you last week, glad you're back showing your amazingly wide road as you 4-whell-drive it up the 5% hill with the trailer and the Genie scissors lift. Wonderful how Riley built an addition to the lift to support the 5/8" drywall. Beautiful job Courtney artistically applying mud and taping. Look forward to seeing your next RUclips!
Riley you are one lucky man to have wife that like mudding dry wall. Well done young lady it looks great.
The scissors lift was a great idea, so much safer than ladders or trying to do it off scaffold. Glad you had a good break and Looking forward to seeing how far you two can go before winter.
Really.
Now I prefer to rent some special tools even if one could do a job other way. But - using the right tools will save so much time and energy. That's for me always worth the money.
@@wjhann4836 I've always said that having the right tool makes the job half done already.
@@Brian424 That's absolutely true.
The shoe over the light is a nice touch.
I was saying "Noooooo!" at first when I thought you may try to unload the scissor lift on the driveway instead of on the concrete. Just like a forklift with that kind of tires (made for hard surfaces), and having no ground clearance to speak of, the lift would have been instantly stuck. But then you backed into the shop and I breathed a sigh of relief.
I just discovered your channel today and I'm really impressed with your "Ambition", drive, and energy. I'm pretty good at DIY and mechanical things, but vehicles of any kind have never been my forte. Taking on the torque converter repair on that bulldozer like you did (different video) was something I probably never would have attempted, even if I had the excavator to do the heavy lifting. It was truly impressive and I congratulate you for making it happen.
And Courtney was mudding and taping that drywall like a seasoned professional. Great job.
You two keep working your butts off and I'll keep sitting on mine and watching!
Welcome to the adventure! Where sometimes we do what you are hoping, and other times we make the wrong decision and you get to watch us get things unstuck! 😉
For the dog afraid of thunder, buy him a Thunder Shirt to hug him better than the t-shirts.
Riley, did you know that you can extend the front of the scissor lift platform out? It will cantilever over the front end, but is totally safe is designed to do so. I think you and Courtney will appreciate having more room up there :)
Half my work is done using the overhang. Im surprised they didnt show him the extension when they were training him???
Was going to post this as well. The 1 minute mark of this video shows how:
m.ruclips.net/video/PnuwpNjUj6s/видео.html
Wonderful progress. More validation for the road and garage pad projects. Well done.
Courtney definitely has the tape and mud touch nice work guys
Watching so many other creators apply mud makes my eye twitch. Courtney's technique is spot on.
Good work on the drywall.
So much nicer and safer to have the scissor lift to work from. Looking good!
Haha, I like the shoe stuck in the scissor lift.
Thanks for the smiles
I know the sizor lift is faster , but for many years we used scaffolding with wheels , one man on the ground moved you and fed the two of us materials. It’s cheaper , and we owned the scaffolding , so it was always available 👍🇨🇦
There’s space for three to work up there, the scissors lift has and expandable area, you have to open it, slide it and there’s more space.
Your build is coming along nicely,I’m not a taper/muddier and Courtney has this mastered ! Thanks for sharing your progress, beautiful work by the nicest people!
Check out Pump Jacks. You will need to get to high spots a lot and they are not too expensive.
I'm always game for driving anything. I was part of a crew that built a Toys R Us here in the UK. On the day the carpenters came in to fit the door frames, someone realised all the scissor lifts and cherry pickers inside the building would have to be removed first or they wouldn't fit through the door apertures. So, eight of us picked a machine each and raced them out. Two laps of the building and then out into the car park for a final lap. Was possibly THE slowest race of anything ever but that didn't stop the rude overtaking tactics.
I usually empty the box of drywall mud into a 5 gallon bucket. Makes it easy to mix and cuts way down on the little dry hard bits that make grooves in your mud joints. Keep the top insides of the bucket clean with water and a sponge. The water that ends up on top of the mud will keep it from drying out. Don’t mix the top water in to the mud, just scoop through it as you need more mud. They also make a belt hung drywall tape holder that really adds another hand for you.
Put a temporary brace diagonally across the narrow end of the cage to keep the alarm from sounding.
Okay, I give in. Floor joints!
Love how you guys divide up your work projects based on patience and skills. If brute force or physical strength is need - Riley is the man, like building the road or cutting trees. When precision work is needed like painting or putting furniture together or mudding and taping it is definitely a Courtney task. But you had better watch out Riley, cause we all know Courtney can do almost 90% of what you do if she sets her mind to it. Love your videos and the progress you have made on the off-grid home.
I would say 100% I’m sure there’s nothing that lady wouldn’t do if needed to😊👍😻🏴
I have worked a lot with scissor lifts before. The safety training/certification required to work onsite at the BC Place stadium refit had me freaking out because of that slipper you placed over the yellow warning strobe. Not because you're not suppose to do that and I'm guessing you did that for filming purposes but because I keep seeing someone's leg crushed under the scissor lift arms. 🤣😂😅
I know that shouldn't be a funny thing but that training we had came complete with some brutal pictures and a warning video of work injuries to drive the point home. I guess that was the most effective part of the training because I clearly still remember that 12 years later but today it would take me a few minutes to recall the operation of the scissor lift.
You can run the knife down the T Square so your not freehanding the scoring.
But don't have your thumb sticking off the edge of the T Square like I did once...really deep cut.
You guys are doing excellent!
Another great video and thanks for sharing it with us .
Well things are moving right along and looking good .
Take care and stay safe working .
🤗👍❤️💫
Great job you two. You are perfect for each other, you share the work and get it done! Fabulous job Courtney, you have mudding down to a fine art. Thanks for sharing.
Good to see you back today! Yeah! The right tools just make the job so much easier. Yes we watched your video before coffee.
Another step forward. You guys are truly a partnership each of your individual talents complement each other. That sure makes life easier. Thanks for sharing.
I missed you two last week. Its good to see you working on the barn again. Its going to be cool when its done. Give a hug to your furry friends from me. They are awesome. See you next time. 🐶😊
Great job guys! What a mudding champ Cortney!
Riley’s move on the scissor lift was awesome! Humor is essential for any professional job😂
Use a wet sponge technique for sanding the mud. You will have no dust.
I would recommend mixing in a 5 gal bucket for a uniform mix. When you're done for the day and you still have mud in the bucket, smooth out and level the top of it, and pour an inch or two of water and cover with a scrap piece of drywall. Pour off the water the next morning. When opening a new box of JC (mud), pull the plastic bag down over the sides of the box and tuck underneath. It's a bit of a trick not to have the corners of the box's mud to get cut off as you dump it over into your bucket, but at least you'll empty all of the bag of mud in one fairly clean motion.
Your ceiling looks (it could be an optical illusion) like the framing is over-spanned. Max is 2' o.c. I'd recommend attaching "hat channel" or at least "RC" (resilient channel meant for minimizing sound transmission) with a 3/4" coarse thread (for attaching to wood framing) framing (not drywall) screw. 2' o.c. is good but 16" o.c. for a ceiling is much better, and I think mandatory when using RC
When embedding tape you did good by laying down mud first. What I do is have a separate small bucket of water to run the full length of tape through, just a quick submersion into water, which helps it adhere to your base bed of mud. When you smooth out the tape into the bed, don't squeeze out all the mud, but with slightly less pressure, spread out more mud so that there is the thinnest layer of mud over the tape. It takes a long time to learn all the tricks of the trade, but you have a good start. Hope that helps. 🤠
I’ve been looking for your next video. So excited to watch your excitement.
You have the sweetest fur babies,we also take ours to town in the back seat of our truck, you guys are so cool!
I've gotten those things stuck on concrete... The side skirts that drop down, don't like floor drain slopes. 🤣🤣
Lift capacity maxed out those are usually 500lbs tools and stuff 600lbs+.. If more won't lift and maxed out whistles, bells ECT. Go off.
Great video Riley and Courtney
Thanks Kevin!
Doing a fine job 👍👍👍🦘🇦🇺
Putting the hooks on the side to lift the sheet rock is brilliant. No doubt that was the reason for the alarm, it seems that it only takes a couple of degrees of lean to trigger it.
Lifts like that have a slide out extension as part of the platform. That can give you more room for two. The ability to cover a wider work area without moving as much. Or the ability to reach out over things.
Turtle to move, rabbit for up and down is best bet. If you have to move thousands of feet, then move in 🐇. If you aren't level or you're too heavy you get the beeps. you should be able to extend the platform with the two release pedals near the rails at the floor of the platform. Still, not a ton more room, but you can reach more square feet. 👽
What a cool garage door
I am pulling up all my paver wrap around patio 120 feet-ish to replace it with concrete so I can use a scissor lift to get up to the 3 story and very steep roof.
Great job putting the drywall up Riley and Courtney
Thanks Kevin!
You should be nice and WARM this Winter
You might look into getting an "anxiety vest" for the dog. It is a snug fitting vest that might help to comfort him and make him feel more secure.
It is really lovley to see you both beeing so actively working. The workshop is looking far better so with the drywall up there.
Hi guys, I just wanted to propose that you do more videos that are shorter than fewer videos that are very long. It's a lot of fun to just watch these videos every other day than just once a week.
This video is a good example for what I mean :)
Thank you for sharing what ever part or parts of your life you are willing to share with us! It’s always fun and interesting.
Courtney really did a nice job on the drywall taping/mudding. Having had to do that type work myself from time to time, it is not as easy as it looks! Thanks for the video!
10:45 You are doing an excellent job of taping and mudding that sheet rock.
Before you do any more drywalling, get a banjo taping tool. You can get a plastic one from Amazon for about $35. If you thought that drywall square was worthwhile, you'll REALLY like the banjo! Used to take me 2 days to tape a room what with waiting for one seam to dry before taping an intersecting seam - partly due to too much mud under the tape. Now I can do a whole room in a couple hours. Way faster and WAY easier!
Dudes, your garage door is epic
I used that style lift at my church, for lights and sound things. Can confirm it gets stuck on anything, including a plastic bottle cap.
Three cheers for the scissor lift! The shop is looking great. I am in awe of your talents.
“I dream of a Genie” Lol! You got me on that one, I had no idea what you would need a scissor lift for until you opened the garage door and then the light came on! 🙄💡
Better put a 5 gallon bucket over the exhaust of your Cat, otherwise you will probably have rusted cylinders and other such damage next spring. In snow country, we put them on every night as we might not get back to them for 6 months if real snow fell.
Wow! Very cool guys! Looking good
Free Tip : Hankook Dynapro ATM tires. I am NOT a tire dealer. I am a guy who lives in a very rural place in the mountains.
I have no idea how to do that.
My goal in life is to live one as good as your dogs have.
When y’all sand that wall you should try using a wet rag instead of paper. I think it’s easier and there’s no dust
WE BREAK EVERYTHING video 1: you need 2 stage snow blow with rubber scraper to do walk way to solar container and water 2: buy window scraper/brush for all vehicles 3: mark road so you do not drive off edge road 4: get semi truck snow chain and you may need fix it to fit army truck 5: Now you have doubled wide ( D8) to help plow the road , it may need engine heater to 6: do not use heat on the defroster you will crack your Windshield cold air the defroster very cold air on the outside.
You could also jury rig a set of tow hooks to your dozer and yank everything up the road all hooked together 😊😊😊
You both make my day also I have to tell you my son lives in Coeur d'alene
scissors lifts are real fun
Looks owsome. Way to go.
Cheers to bolth of you. 🍺&🍷
Loved it Riley, when you drove your head into your ceiling insulation, laughed again when your protector admonished you😂👏👏
Mudding and taping drywall joints? It's a work of patience and someone has to do it. And who better than Courtney?🥰🤗
Rock wool…….. man o man that brings back unpleasant memories. 40 years ago I worked in a rock wool plant in a Elton Texas. Worst 3 months of my life lol.
Props to you guys doing your own drywall. I hate drywall so much.
Add soap to the drywall mud and it goes on super smooth. Try it on a small area next time and show people. But you will do the next box's of mud like that.
By far my favorite channel! Must be wonderful to look back and see the amount of work you have done. Would be great to see a high speed video of the progress. Just what you need…more work😂
Not sure I have ever seen anyone use anything but a mud pan to tape but hey, whatever works for you. Were you a plasterer at some point? Stack the sheets leaning against the wall, finish side out and you will find the drywall square works much easier. A toe on the bottom of the square, hand up top holding the square and run the knife against the square and cut bottom to top. Snap the sheet and cut the back paper!
Wonderful
