    5:42 perfect vision 👌👌👌 I have seen cyclone Fani. Train was stopped to our city for several weeks after cyclone Fani. So backup of diesel locomotive will be game changer in such situation.

    Bhai u explained the reason after 6:00 that why diesel locomotive are to be operational but I told u that the tractive effort of diesel locomotive is higher as compare to electric one so diesel locomotive are important for goods traction.

    Can GE manufacture other types of diesel locomotives in this Bihar factory as per client specifications to export to other countries in future?
    Can this factory be used as GE's outsourced manufacturing hub?

      Yes but after 10 year... Bihar factory is for 30 year, 10 year for indian railway after that South asia country...

    I think that if all alcos and emd get retrofitted into hydrogen fueled driven locomotive then it will be a better option rather reducing the usage of it. Dependency on 100% electrification is not feasible.

      Because GE leader in diesel locomotive technologies . EMD has that technology too which is also american is slightly expensive. And EMD has hight emission compared to GE locos.
      No shame in buying foreign technology.
      Even europe buys some of their diesel locos from america.
      Our old ALCO(defunct now) were also.

      I hope video creator give you reply to ur query but I suspect he would as he got may hundred of comments.
      ALSTCOM for electric locos also got contract by IR .
      American are king in diesel locos like GE EMD . Large scale production of locos customized for different country.
      European thought also manufacture diesel but they do not produce for large scale foreign market.
      European are actually king of electric locos not diesel.
      Locomotive manufacturing unlike car bike is a very complicated thing. Even with make in india (which in my opinion is more of marketing not very successful) it will take lot of years for india to manufacture their own loco.

      ports are not electrified I guess for obvious reasons same as some Industrial areas. So cargo trains always have to use Diesel locos

    Indegenously developed wdg 5 got no recognition...
    If emissions is the only problem why they didn't take from EMD?? EMD developed Tier 4 locos...better than Ge and more durable..also EMD is working with india from 1995 I guess...

    railways always import technology what is new in that - whenever they want or they feel need they buy a technology from abroad - show me one good locomotive they produced on their own - whatever small they produced are all derivatives - of imported technology - good only for taking salaries and managers for taking commission

      Obviously we import technology from other countries where it is most new. But don't undermine that Indian Railway do modify these imported trains to produce better locomotives. Train 18 was indegeniously developed in India. We have a hybrid diesel + electric locomotive. A WAG 10 ( from WDM3A ) diesel locomotive converted to electric locomotive. WDG5 - 5500HP indegeniously developed diesel engine. WAG-11 also indegeniously developed.
