Good analysis. Both are very good models by GE, but operating conditions are different. In India, close to 75% of route length is electrified which is probably why fuel tank capacity and range is less. Also, turntables are rare in India and many have been dismantled after phase-out of steam locomotives. Dual cab is therefore the norm in India. WDG4G is a pure freight locomotive which was proposed to be used on the Dedicated Freight corridor for hauling double stack containers. Hence max speed of 100 kmph. However, this route is now being electrified with high-mount catenary and long pantographs. Therefore WDG4G may also become redundant in a few years when 100% electrification is completed in India.

In India many drivers have been complaining against use for single cabin diesel locomotives which has a restrictive view ahead and is a challenge to operate at high speeds. Hence in future all diesel locos will be build with dual cabin. Thanks for posting the video.
You mis understood some of the terms, like braking power & axel load, axel load for Locomotives should be high, which makes them stable on rails, low axel weight is considered good for rolling stocks but its opposite for Locomotives. Higher axel weight has less wheel slippage and more tractive effort so a heavy Locomotive can pull longer loads, india has longer trains than Pakistan so we see WDG4G to be havier than GEU-40 also condition of the railway line decides designed axel load for a Locomotive. So there is no pass fail between WDG4G & GEU-40 regarding axel loads, even if we consider the fact then AC6000 weights about 192 tons? Obviously GEU-40 & WDG4G aren't that good as of AC6000. Also the difference in braking powers of GEU & WDG are due to the loads which they are going to pull, in Pakistan small loads, less braking power as compared to India. To me there is no such difference between WDG & GEU except dual cabs, rest is same to same, also their max permissible speeds are same. Happy to see good information shared by you for railfans of both countries, thumbs up!
You are right. But India restricted WDG-4G at 100kmph. May be beacuse of track conditions or there maybe a difference of gear ratio between WDG-4G and GEU-40.
@@RailCaptures-byGKP there is difference of gear ratio which generates more tractive effort, and in the process of increasing tractive effort, we always loose speed. indian railways don't care much about speeds for freight trains as of now, their more focus is on haulage capacity of the locomotives. Even our wag12b having bo-bo + bo-bo bogie configuration with 12000hp is restricted to 100-110 kmph, because speed is not needed as the average speed of freight trains on DFC Corridors is going to be around 80 kmph
@@shirishsalunkhe9374 All freight hauling locos of Indian Railways are having max operational speed of 100 Kmph, BUT WAG-12B is an exception in this case, it is certified for operating speed of 120 Kmph. And also upcoming 9000Hp variant of "WAG-9HH" are also expected to have an operational speed of 120 Kmph. These both locos WAG-12B & WAG-9HH are specially made to operate on DFC & its feeder routes. IR is planning to gradually upgrade freight wagons so that they can run at 120 kmph with full load on DFC. As of now upgrading the wagons is not on priority though, as with opening of DFC itself has helped freight trains to maintain an average speed of 90-95kmph; with 120 kmph upgradation the average speed of freight trains will go upto 110 kmph atleast!
@@RailCaptures-byGKP for now as per what my uncle said, wag-12b is restricted to 100kmph and sometimes 110 in some sections, yes i know the certified speed is 120kmph but that will be increased gradually

It is a good companion video. Folks, it is a comparison of two locomotives , not railways. As a Pakistani I think Indian Railways may be superior in many aspects than Pakistani Railways.
Thank you for this video. While India negotiated for a tech transfer and most of the locomotives will be made in India, Pakistan imported all of the ones in ready state from US. Pakistan should have negotiated a tech transfer so they could be manufactured in future when demand increases. Also why are these powerful beasts used for passenger haul? It's being under utilized. It's true value if for freight services. Anyways, great informative video bhai.
Thank you sir TOT is best option and INDIA did very well, $2.5B project is a one of the big project for GE....and that big project opened the door for India to build GE locomotive by their own hands, PR dont have much money to invest in locomotive,s and GE will not transfer its technology on just these smaller orders, Lacking of passenger train locomotives is one of the main reason....that's why GEU40 is being used with Express trains
Excellent video despite no English subtitles for the commentary. I believe Indian Railways only had the first few built in the USA and the rest were built under licence in India? PR had the entire 9000 class built in the USA? Both fairly equal in power/performance data, however I would go with the WDG4G for dual cab convenience. Thanks Faheem.
The biggest difference and that truly matters in spite of having 64 hp less and top speed less by 20km per hour, is the fact that the Indian made EMD GE engines are made in India so their service, maintenance, spare parts, upgradation etc can be done within India without a hassle and the knowledge base acquired through manufacturing resides in India. Remember the saying, a bird in a hand is worth two in a bush! By the way when was the first or last time Pakistan ran a goods train at 120 km per hour? Never, so what use is that except for the time it may be used for mixed duty like pulling a passenger train.

Wow!!! Amazing topic to discuss.... Actually both of these ES43ACI(geu40) and ES43ACMI(wdg4g) are actually derived from GE ES44AC, which is actually a 192T locomotive which produces 890KN... But sir according to my information is that actually strength of a locomotive is measured by starting tractive effort (STE) not on continous tractive effort(CTE), Geu40 produces 500KN, and wdg4g produces 544KN, so as per that wdg4g can pull more load than geu40 initially... Here in IR wdg4g is currently pulling 4800-5000T loaded coal trains at 90-100kmph speed at WDFC and EDFC... But on the other hand geu40 can pull upto only 4500 tons, but main advantages is that geu40 lighter in weight and can go upto 120kmph and have better tank capacity.... So my conclusion is for load wdg4g is better, for better speed and long distances geu40 is better than wdg4g...
I think it is due to our rail operational psychology not a technical point to pull 4500 tons. When power output is same then GEU can go for 5000 tons. Simply in india passenger rake go by 22 to 25 coaches but here 18 nd max 20 so GEU is not inefficient rather it is our rail operations
@@naeemliaquat39I appreciate your knowledge, but for your kind information, the power output doesn't decide the load pulling capacity...the actual load pulling capacity is decided by tractive effort... Geu40 produces 500KN and wdg4g have 544KN, which means 44KN extra which means wdg4g can pull more load than geu40 and dynamic braking of wdg4g is 272KN and geu40 has 250KN, which means load pulling and better acceleration wdg4g is better but for speed geu40 is better as it has 120kmph top speed.... For example a 4000hp American locomotive produces 800KN tractive effort, where as an European electric of 8600hp locomotive produces only 300KN... Which means American 4000hp locomotive can pull 2-3 times than 8600hp e loco... And in PR due to short loop lines maximum freight wagons can be accomodate is 40-45 wagons... Which means around 3500-3800tons... which is still less for geu40... In short geu40 is under utilised, due to short loop lines
@@naeemliaquat39 geu40 and wdg4g are frieght locomotives, so it's doesn't depends on number of passenger coaches pulled, wdg4g is not at all used passenger train, ...and secondly I never said that geu40 is inefficient, it's one of the best locomotive to have... geu40 is made PR condition, and wdg4g is made for IR condition, so the top speed and tractive effort is different for both locomotives even though their power output is same...
Indian railway bought WDG4G for fright train only and for DFC 2 haul double stack containers trains and it us also 4 stroke engine which reduce 50% less pollution then conventional 2 stroke diesel locomotives.
Wag 12 is the most powerful engine of India 12000 hp... After 2-3 yrs.. Indian Railways will stop using diesel engine.. 60-70℅ route has been electrified
Geu universal locomotive he our wdg4g only goods k ley he (wide gauge diesel goods) name se zahir he but bohat hi achi information thi faheem bhai. GOD bless you ❤️
Indias top Diesel locomotive is not wdg4g it is Wdg6g which is also called has Angad. Horse power of this locomotive is 6000. Comparing with GEU40 its HP is 4500
Most passenger services will be converted to electric traction, WDG4G and WDG6G will be used for future freight needs along with WAG9 and WAG12. Good luck from India. Keep making unbiased videos.
You had made a series of all Pakistani locomotives You should make a series on Indian locomotives too. AND you should review WAG 12 , WAP 5 and WAP 7 🙏
Freight locos are designed for low end torque to pull goods wagons whereas passenger locos are designed for acceleration and speed. They have high end torque. So India has different locos for freight and passenger trains India had experimented long back locos which can be used for freight as well as passenger trains. But it had limitations.
Very interesting and informative video. Keep it up. Why Pakistan railways did not add condition of transfer of technology in this agreement to build these engines in Pakistan like India did?? Any news regarding refurbishment of ZCU and DPU? Ya in engines ko bhool jain?
Because of very smaller order Only $400Million project infront of $2.5billion of Indian Railways, TOT is must required but GE will not handover to us easily against these small orders......that's what my POV is.. DPU are no more...not part of any meetings and ZCU case us very different and ridiculous too....PR did not announced it publicly regarding the current conditions of these locomotives, whom to blame?.... are these really substandard locomotives or we didn't maintained it accordingly....that's why they are just pulling out the spares from grounded locos to keep them rolling on track.... shameful
@@SitesandSoundsDPU and ZCU engines are sub standard and examples of curroption. HGMU engines are older but a good quality engines and our railway staff still manage to run these. I think sub standard of the engines is the main issue
Excellent informative video! The big difference between two deals in my opinion is India’s successful bid to get the technology ! Indian always get the technology and we Pakistani get secret kickbacks!!
Excellent comparison between the two locos, and yes the differences are minor and almost inconsequential. But one glaring difference even apart from the dual cab is about the extra 2000 liter tank in the GEU40 compared to the G4G.. that makes a difference in everyday operations but maybe IR would shrug it off saying “electrification of tracks” so Diesel engines not really required, so maybe this is just like a backup. Bhai, hum Indians kisi de bhi kaam chala lete hain, woh aadat ho chuki hai, so maybe this was what even IR would have thought. Great, informative video, enjoyable!!.
The main purpose of wdg4g to have just 6300 litres was to lower the axle loads... for EDFC and WDFC it's okay can have better fuel capacity and can exceed upto 25tons per axle, but other tracks of IR is limited to 22.5 to 23tons... So keeping that in mind they lowered the fuel capacity to 6300 litres...
@@sunboat800 currently both the DFC are partially operational, not at full potential... based on that, yes it is generating revenue... don't know the exact amount...
You are absolutely right. You see Uncle Sam is the only person to laugh because they are good in everything in respect to engineering, the only countries that know how to make this tech are USA EU Russia Japan that’s it. Other countries have learnt from them. Their is no need to reinvent the wheel, but importing units in whole for an entire fleet is bad idea. Indians imported some units to know the latest technology which might takes 10 years for us to develop ourselves.

Bro! Its an informative video.. i pray that pk railway become profitable organization ameen
It is a good companion video.
Folks, it is a comparison of two locomotives , not railways. As a Pakistani I think Indian Railways may be superior in many aspects than Pakistani Railways.
Thanks
Very good quality video and truly narrated facts
Thumps up 👌👌👍👍👍
Thanks
Recently india introduce his own engine for dffcil track they are more powerful than wdg& g40
Zabardast Sir Kafi Achi Information the 2no enjoins ki( GEU-40 & WDG4G)
Thanks
Thank you for this video. While India negotiated for a tech transfer and most of the locomotives will be made in India, Pakistan imported all of the ones in ready state from US. Pakistan should have negotiated a tech transfer so they could be manufactured in future when demand increases.
Also why are these powerful beasts used for passenger haul? It's being under utilized. It's true value if for freight services. Anyways, great informative video bhai.
Thank you sir
TOT is best option and INDIA did very well, $2.5B project is a one of the big project for GE....and that big project opened the door for India to build GE locomotive by their own hands,
PR dont have much money to invest in locomotive,s and GE will not transfer its technology on just these smaller orders,
Lacking of passenger train locomotives is one of the main reason....that's why GEU40 is being used with Express trains
@@SitesandSounds 👍👍
Amazing, Fantastic & Very Informative
Video Faheem Bhai, Learnt a Lot🥰🥰🥰
Thank you
Excellent video despite no English subtitles for the commentary. I believe Indian Railways only had the first few built in the USA and the rest were built under licence in India? PR had the entire 9000 class built in the USA? Both fairly equal in power/performance data, however I would go with the WDG4G for dual cab convenience. Thanks Faheem.
40 nos were made in USA and rest 660 will be made in India
PR entire fleet of 55 nos of locomotives were made in USA
Thank you sir
@@SitesandSounds ye sab band honewala hai aur jo band honewala hai tum uska compare kar rahe ho 🤔🤣😁
Thank you for rhe detailed info. Love from India. 💗
Thanks
Great video, I was under the impression that they were the same locomotive with some minor changes. Very informative
Thank you
The biggest difference and that truly matters in spite of having 64 hp less and top speed less by 20km per hour, is the fact that the Indian made EMD GE engines are made in India so their service, maintenance, spare parts, upgradation etc can be done within India without a hassle and the knowledge base acquired through manufacturing resides in India. Remember the saying, a bird in a hand is worth two in a bush! By the way when was the first or last time Pakistan ran a goods train at 120 km per hour? Never, so what use is that except for the time it may be used for mixed duty like pulling a passenger train.
India ke pass 12000 HP ka bhi Locomotive hai Kya tum logo ke pass aisha koi Powerfull Locomotive hai 😁 Ho to pleace comment karna . i am weating for your comment 🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Wow!!! Amazing topic to discuss....
Actually both of these ES43ACI(geu40) and ES43ACMI(wdg4g) are actually derived from GE ES44AC, which is actually a 192T locomotive which produces 890KN...
But sir according to my information is that actually strength of a locomotive is measured by starting tractive effort (STE) not on continous tractive effort(CTE),
Geu40 produces 500KN, and wdg4g produces 544KN, so as per that wdg4g can pull more load than geu40 initially...
Thanks
Agreed
Thank you for interesting information. Yes you are right GEU is under utilized. Your GE is same family and slight modifications. Keep growing
Very nice information.🌹👍

Freight locos are designed for low end torque to pull goods wagons
whereas passenger locos are designed for acceleration and speed. They have high end torque.
So India has different locos for freight and passenger trains
India had experimented long back locos which can be used for freight as well as passenger trains. But it had limitations.

Sir wag12 locomotive ke bare bhi batayiye jo India ka most powerful locomotive hai
WDG4G is a goods train engine while GEU40 is for mixed use.
Bhai g 34dn 33up pak bussines express tu chl rahi hai mgr kya 303up and 304 dn pak bussines chl rahi hai
Very interesting and informative video. Keep it up. Why Pakistan railways did not add condition of transfer of technology in this agreement to build these engines in Pakistan like India did?? Any news regarding refurbishment of ZCU and DPU? Ya in engines ko bhool jain?
Because of very smaller order
Only $400Million project infront of $2.5billion of Indian Railways,
TOT is must required but GE will not handover to us easily against these small orders......that's what my POV is..
DPU are no more...not part of any meetings
and ZCU case us very different and ridiculous too....PR did not announced it publicly regarding the current conditions of these locomotives, whom to blame?.... are these really substandard locomotives or we didn't maintained it accordingly....that's why they are just pulling out the spares from grounded locos to keep them rolling on track.... shameful
@@SitesandSoundsDPU and ZCU engines are sub standard and examples of curroption. HGMU engines are older but a good quality engines and our railway staff still manage to run these. I think sub standard of the engines is the main issue

The big difference between two deals in my opinion is India’s successful bid to get the technology ! Indian always get the technology and we Pakistani get secret kickbacks!!

Very well explained!!
👍👍
Thank you
Excellent comparison between the two locos, and yes the differences are minor and almost inconsequential.
Thank you
The main purpose of wdg4g to have just 6300 litres was to lower the axle loads... for EDFC and WDFC it's okay can have better fuel capacity and can exceed upto 25tons per axle, but other tracks of IR is limited to 22.5 to 23tons... So keeping that in mind they lowered the fuel capacity to 6300 litres...
@@nabarunbiswas7462 oh ok, thanks, didn’t know this. Are the EDFC and WDFC actually generating any revenue for IR?.
@@sunboat800 currently both the DFC are partially operational, not at full potential... based on that, yes it is generating revenue... don't know the exact amount...

In the end uncle sam had the last laugh
You are absolutely right. You see Uncle Sam is the only person to laugh because they are good in everything in respect to engineering, the only countries that know how to make this tech are USA EU Russia Japan that’s it. Other countries have learnt from them. Their is no need to reinvent the wheel, but importing units in whole for an entire fleet is bad idea. Indians imported some units to know the latest technology which might takes 10 years for us to develop ourselves.
