"diesel engine zyada takatwar hota hai" is a partial myth. Starting effort of a wdg6g is 570KN while that of the WAG12 is 706 KN. Thus a WAG12 will outpull and outrun a WDG6G. This statement is partially right because the diesel engine in a loco weighs a lot more than a transformer in an electric loco and since reactive effort depends on axle load, a diesel loco is able to transfer more effort to the rails without slippage. Electric locos can however be designed with a heavier bogie plus ballasts filled with sand to improve the reactive effort and so this is a small handicap to overcome. Once on the move, electric locos can run for short durations at power exceeding it's rated power, something a diesel loco simply cannot do.
WAG12B is a dual loco if WDG6G is coupled to dual then it will have more horse power and tractive effort than 12B! DIESELS ARE ALWAYS BEST FOR HEAVY FREIGHTS 🇺🇸👍

I miss WDP 4 in NJP HWH Shatapdi I remember when I first rode NJP HWH back in 2013 and then it almost was like looking at a bullet train as WDP 4 seemed so aerodynamic and had that jet engine sound also that day WDP 4 was in BAAZ livery and back in 21st Dec 2019 NJP HWH Shatapdi reached 132 kmph while being hauled by WDP 4 I really miss WDP 4 now the ugly bxy WAP 7 has ruined everything
Privatization ka matlab gov company ko private karna hai ager aisa hota to loco sach indian company hi bana rahi hoti but yha koi privatization nahi hua hai pura contract hi GE ko diya hai haa but GE wale training humara engineers ko hi de rahe hai yeh bat achi hai
Wastage of money. We already have huge no of diesel locomotives as back up. Truth is contract was given when 100% electrification was not on the cards. Now with change in plan this contract had to be honored. Wish Suresh Prabhu had decided on 100% electrification before ordering these diesels
One guy told me that all these WDG 6 can be converted to electric traction easily and can be used in dual mode i.e both diesel as well as electric. So railways thought these are lot more cheaper.
Dude, diesel locomotives has much more power than Electric locomotives. And Indian railways sometimes run Diesel locomotives even on electrified section where there are many gradients. Because diesel locomotives can handle gradients very easily unlike Electric locomotives.

The thing is wdg4g and 6g are scarce only 400 and 60 respectively and we know that diesel with passenger trains is already a rarity so instead of using these diesels the already available and better suited for passenger service diesel locos are used like the WDP4 series locos. These engines are also only available in 2 locomotive sheds so yea seeing these locos with passenger trains is very rare they're for goods only!
