O that was super! Lovely to see you catching those brownies. I presently fish for coarse fish on the fly. But one day hope to do just what you have made look so simple. But, I know it’s not! You demonstrate amazing watercraft. It was exciting to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Alun, I really appreciate the feedback. It’s been a very steep learning curve, but it all seems worthwhile when people like yourself recognise the effort involved. There’s many more to come!
Brilliant video. I’m going to Penpont on the Usk next week for a bit of fly fishing. Really helpful to see what works here and how you approach the river
I've also had a problem with snap-offs when dry fly-fishing the Usk. I might scale up from 5X to 4X tippet.....but first will try a longer rod to cushion the take a bit more. I've been using a 7ft 6 #3, but might try my 10ft #3 instead.
Hi Ben, yes, there certainly seems to be a trend towards lighter, longer rods. Personally, I use a 9ft 5wt for dries, but can appreciate the benefits of a longer rod. I use a 10ft 3wt for nymphing, which can be used for dries in the right conditions. It’s all personal preference!
Hi, enjoying the show! Is that a weight forward line? Also with the nymphing set up. Is that maxima and what strength is it as it looks quite beefy? Thanks..
@@mikecfox20 Hi Mike, glad you’re enjoying the videos! Yes, I use a WF4 floating line for dries, and I’m using a Hends 9m Camo French leader on this day 👍

Ah, thanks so much Dave! Glad you enjoyed the video, and I hope you manage to fish the Usk soon - it’s a wonderful river 👍
Used to fish that beat 40 years ago. Prolific. Had fish up too 2lb. Would love to go back.
It certainly is a great beat, and still fishes well 👍
I knew you'd started a channel but hadn't seen in until now. Fantastic production. A credit to you. Well done Lyn. I look forward to seeing more.
