Thank you for this wonderful demonstration... Must say I watched till the end and you surprised me there.... I think you are just hilarious... Thanks for the great laughs 😂😂
Love the channel, love the instruction. I have incorporated some of these techniques into my own work. Love the effects. Oh... and the bloopers section at the end is hilarious. You do it with such a deadpan irritated expression that I have to admit, makes me laugh. Keep up the excellent videos.
Thank you Louise! I am a big fan of your use of only a few colours and mixing from those - I despair when I see people listing 'umpteen' colours for one tiny painting! Thanks for all your hard work for us.
I too have a truly deep love of birds - I am so happy your beautiful energy & breath taking bird painting video simply appeared today...Bless you Beautiful Soul and thank you for sharing your beautiful art with us xx
I just came across you today and want to say thank you so much for your really clear explanations and close ups so we can see what you're doing. The kingfisher is just beautiful!
Gorgeous painting of a Kingfisher. I love the way you paint a splash of color behind the subject leaving the rest of the background white. I've tried it on some of my paintings and it looks great! It keeps the focus on the subject and I don't need to paint a complicated background.
EFFECTS! Some words is harder than others :)). Lovely painting demonstrating so many techniques. Your videos are lovely Louise and you are a natural teacher.
I was thrilled when I saw you were painting a kingfisher since that is something I have wanted to attempt this year! Thanks for explaining everything so well and showing close-up views.
Beautiful watercolor kingfisher painting Louise! love the transparency of this 😍 and I like how made the balance with the background stretching on the other side of the bird. Enjoyed this wonderful artwork and your teaching! thank you for sharing! Marija ❤️💖😀
Hello fellow Aussie. I have never tried watercolour before but you have inspired me to give it a go. I absolutely love your videos and your outtakes make me giggle. A big Thank You :-)
I am very much enjoying your videos and your detailed explanations. I have heard you talk about your large mixing tray that you had made somewhere but can't find the reference anymore. Can you tell me where to get it?
Question: when looking through Pinterest, some of the exotic birds have colours that are hard to believe . I know Australia has many species types different from other countries. Do you think many of these photos are photo shopped ?
Oo ooo ooo love the straw thing for the background! I really need to start trying the large brush washes over the subject BEFORE I paint... if not following a tutorial I mean. Background=nemesis for me and I need to truly absorb yours. It would make life much more simple. 🤣🤣 will play with it today before getting back to a commission. Thanks for the inspiration as always. One question, is this the kingfisher image shared by one of our Facebook members? Her name escapes me, but last summer she posted an amazing bunch of images taken by her husband. I gave the kingfisher a try, but felt it was too tight. Going to try your version. And the limited palette. Phthalo turquoise and burnt sienna... fabulous idea.
Thank you Alison. Don't put pressure on yourself to paint backgrounds if you're not ready. It took me a long time to build up the courage. The image is by Hans Veth from Unsplash website. 💕
Another beautiful painting! I don't see a listing of the type of brush you are using for this work. It has such a nice fat barrel and a fine tip. Could you mention the name of this brush? Thank you so much.
@@LouiseDeMasi Thank you for making these awesome videos. I'm considering purchasing a tutorial to try and paint one of your birds on your site. (Love that galah) What size of brush are you using here if I may ask?
I just found you and I love your channel! Thank you so much for these tutorials I'm learning so much! Can I ask what type of brushes you use, they look wonderful! Thank you
Sometimes I'll use saral paper (transfer paper) and other times I'll scribble graphite all over the back of my line drawing and I'll trace it on with that. I prefer not to draw directly onto the watercolour paper to avoid erasing too much.
Thank you Elizabeth. Yes it will. I haven't started working on it yet because I'm trying to get others finished first. Late June or July it should be ready.
I have noticed you aren't using your lazy suzan palette recently. Is it because your changing how you use watercolour? Im struggling with finding the best palette for me.
I still use it. I find it too large to film with though especially when I use a ceramic plate to do my mixing on. The bedroom that I paint isn't large enough for me to film in so finally, after 20 years of waiting, I'm in the process of getting a studio built in the garden. Can't wait!
Hi Louise. I'm not sure how long you follow the comments for any particular video. I just watched you video on how to stretch watercolour paper. I found a site that stocks your Arches 1080 gsm paper. I've copied and pasted my comment from the other video here: Jerry's artarama has both the Arches 400 lb the Arches 500 lb watercolour paper (dimensions 22 x 30 Inches). A 25 pack of the 400 lb (which I think is the 1080gsm you were talking about) is USD 531.75 (approx AUD 687) and shipping is USD 7.50 (I think that is by sea, but hey it's cheap). Works out to about AUD 28 per sheet. www.jerrysartarama.com/arches-100-rag-watercolor-paper-natural-white

I love videos with verbal audio. I hate videos whete there is no talking and its just music and thats most videos on RUclips. Shes an amazing teacher
Love the tip of drying the paint so it will not spread too much - Brilliant !
Really like this lady. She is a very patient instructor and beautiful artist.

I love your paintings and teaching style. I am learning so much. Thank you! My problem is trying to make beautiful and harmonic backgrounds. 😢
Unbelievable glow with aliveness of this masterpiece
This will be a challenge, but I’m confident you will calmly lead us through it. He’s gorgeous.

Beautiful painting Louise! We have the Belted Kingfisher in our area.
Thanks Bruce. They are sweet little birds. I painted a Belted Kingfisher a few years ago.

It would be great to see your reference photo while you paint.

Can I ask where you got the tray to mix the paint?

Thanks Barbara. It will be available on Patreon when I release the full length tutorial.
Looking forward to it!
I looked for this project on Patreon. Do you plan to include it on Patreon? Have you ever done a grey cockatiel?
Yes - when I get it done. I have quite a few to post before it so it won't be until July I'd say.
I have noticed you aren't using your lazy suzan palette recently. Is it because your changing how you use watercolour? Im struggling with finding the best palette for me.

@@LouiseDeMasi That does sound exciting!! Thank you for your time and replying.
I do soft watercolor birds but then something tells me to make them more realistic and i end up messing them up!
Loose you mention Skillshare in this demonstration, are you still doing your teaching on Patreon ?
Yes I am! Thanks Annie.
