It was understood at the time that children could handle and understand more mature themes and there was an effort made for even kids shows to appeal to adults in some capacity.
Imagine if _this_ Robotnik was introduced into the games. How I'd do it: I'd introduce him as Eggman's older brother that Sonic met before. (Sonic SatAM being a prequel to the games in my idea.) Upon seeing Julian's return/resurrection, Sonic would, for once in his life, _become stricken with fear_ upon the return of his old nemesis. And after that prologue and an escape from Robotropolis 2.0, as everyone is talking about this new, much more psychotic member of the Robotnik family, everyone stops and notices Sonic by himself, rocking back and forth in a traumatized daze, muttering how this is impossible, he *can't* be back, making everyone worried. _Even Eggman._ Sonic is known to be fearless to a fault, never backing down from a challenge. _Seeing The Blue Blur in this state,_ *legitimately afraid of this new enemy,* _makes them realize this is not a villain to take lightly._
I’d introduce him as Eggman’s father and Maria’s uncle, the son of Gerald Robotnik. After the death of his beloved niece and the framing and execution of his father, Julian-once a pacifist using his technology solely for the benefit of both man and Mobian-would completely cut himself off from humanity and turn all the machines he built to help mankind against them. Julian Robotnik built the Scrap Brain as the central operating base of his robotic rebellion. Eggman would inherit Julian’s legacy, but instead of a desire for vengeance he would use his army of robots for his own selfish ends. Perhaps Julian uploaded his consciousness into an AI, and now he’s trying to possess Sage and make her nuke the entire planet.
They already have established multiple alternate universes, just have him be an alternate universe counterpart to Eggman from a place where he won. He found a way into the universe of the games and uses a portal to send his armies through to establish a foot hold. Eggman realizes that this interdimentional invader is a threat to not only the world but to his plans and joins with Sonic only to find out that the invader is just another version of himself as well as the horror he will bring when after fighting a General sent into a zone the generals mind is able to break through the roboticizers brainwashing and Thanks them for freeing them from their nightmare, they then go on to tell if their world, what it was like before, of Robotniks rise to power and what it did, how they lost, and were all turned inu robot slaves, then they end once more giving thanks for freeing them before dying. In that moment both Sonic and Eggman realize that this is no game, there will be no back and forth, and there is a horrid realization that theit robot counterparts they have been fighting are not just robots like mecha Sonic but are intact themselves and should they lose the same fate awaits all of them. But how do they win when only the inorganic can cross the rift without dying?

I would assume that the alternate reality he comes from would be similar to that of the 1993 Sonic (Satuday Mornings) American Animated TV Series and/or The Pre-SGW Sonic Archie Comic Series that’s partially based off of Sonic SatAM.
I actually met Jim Cummings and got him to sign a Dr Robotnik 8x10. I asked Jim if he didn't mind putting a quote and I had him sign it "What color is my heart?" The Dr, then Jim Cummings.
How I wish this Robotnik stuck!... I would enjoy him a lot more if he was in the games or the movies, but now he's nothing more than a joke.... At least we can keep memories of him, and who knows? Sega could get their act together and reboot Eggman into this version, modify the look a bit and change his personality.
Or do the Generation treatment but instead of time, a multiverse perhaps. Heck, they could even make the universe of 06 relevant and somewhat redeem themselves for what that game came out to be.

this is perfect. I like all of the versions of this song that you made, but this one is by far my favorite. it really fits the dark, sinister feel that he had in the show. this is beautiful.
The live action movies missed two great opportunities: 1. Use the SatAM Robotnik theme. 2. Tell the SatAM story in the first place. It's nice to see someone show the love this theme and character truly deserves. Fantastic, simply fantastic!
Get were under contract not to use the SatAm story, they do referenced it in the second movie when Robotnik burned through the door to the house and said "Hello, Hedgehog! Did you miss me?"
Might be saving it for the third film. Also, the SatAm story is very difficult to tell. One of the primary characteristics of the series is Mobius is Earth after a nuclear war. There is one way they could do it though. The ARK is not realistic in the 2020s given the volume of satellites that orbit the Earth and the numerous private space corporations. Gerald's final act of vengeance having been planting a bug within nuclear defense systems-especially the Soviet Union's relic, Project Deadhand, could make for a viable alternative that is more unique and realistic.

I suppose that could work, but the orbits would still be altered and the tides would be affected. Furthermore, as aforementioned-too many private entities in space.
I don’t think they can tell the story of SatAM for numinous reasons but they could at least but the freedom fighters at some point or paramount could just make a reboot of SatAM

I love this theme so much. You created the best version of any Robotnik theme that completely outclasses any of the official themes today! I only wish that there was a part of the song where the music swells and the choir gets loud and dramatic for a moment. That's the only thing that feels missing.
As much as I like the piano, I cannot help but think that some application of cathedral bells toned for funerals would further cement this as a proper villain ending. The final death knell of once free society usurped and subjugated by pure evil.
sonic has always been about the goofy but id love to have an au where everything is seriously GENUINLY threatening and menacing that robotisizer is an existentially terrifying thing, they ought to have played on that more.

Hey could you imagine that surge and Kit from the Idw Sonic comics tried to kill Robotnik, only for them to discover that Robotnik is still around trying to conquer Mobius not because Sonic doesn't choose to kill him, but that he can't, robotic plans that had such an advanced that even if Sonic wanted to, he couldn't, and then Robotnik kicks Surge and kits butt, and then takes off his glasses to reveal those black eyes with red pupils, and says there's a reason why I'm Sonic's greatest enemy, because no matter how many he stops him, he'll always come back.

Very dark and intimidating as it should be. This also reminds me of the Sonic CD US Boss Theme as that also fits this version of Robotnik very well. Imagine combining this with CD US Boss theme that would be truly terrifying..

Smiles at the possibility of new worlds to conqurer. I know it's a pipe-dream, but I eagerly await one day this guy returns. An Eggman so scary that he's a villian not to be messed with, never to let your guard down. Even those who work for him, fear his power. A guy who would steal the emeralds not to use them to power his machine (although he would consider it), but rather keep them to prevent anyone else using them. Never. Mess. With the Doctor.
Play this song when you read Eggman telling Starline he played himself during their battle in IDW comics… instant chills when you see how dangerous Eggman is to non powered characters. Doesn’t need robots or the like… dude just manhandles anyone without powers with intense strength. Eggman turned back into Robotnik in that issue.
Imagine if in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Jim Carrey will take for his Robotnik some things from this Robotnik. Man, I already seeing him with robotic left arm and in that characteristic outfit, conquering Mobius and creating at Mushroom Planet his empire.
Okay-I definitely want that to happen. Man falls into depression, unleashes Shadow as a last ditch effort to kill the Wachowskis because he knows Shadow has a vendetta against them, heavily rebuilt body due to injuries-gained weight from isolation and reliance on processed foods.
